Anything For You -
Chapter 133
"Lord..! Lord...?!" Wades had been looking at the king for some answer to his question. He had witnessed his Lord to be this bewildered only when it was some dangerous situation at the borders or something concerning a war, but he hadn't mentioned anything like that now. So, why was the Lord in so much of dilemma!
The Lord was pulled out from his thoughts island. He peeked over Wades. For one flushed moment, he thought of telling him the reason: why he wanted to protect Calista always? But the second moment, he shrugged his own thoughts and chewed back the dumpling that had been spicy earlier, but now started to feel a little more sweet because of its mixing with his saliva.
"Cant I be worried about my daughter? Why do you nag when Veronica leaves the house without you getting informed, or without any guards?" He cross-questioned him. It was his best method to dodge the questions when he didn't want to answer them back. Wades was not an ordinary vampire minister. He knew Faust so well. Instead of falling for his trap, he responded to him.
"Because Veronica is not a royal Pure Blooded Vampiress. That is enough of a reason for me to get worried for her. But I don't understand your reasons."
"She is still a kid for me. She is just 30 years old. Do you know that a 30 years old vampire is a toddler for us. She isn't a human." The king grumped and growled stuffing one more piece of dumpling into his mouth, his eyes kept searching for the signs of satisfaction over Wades face, as if wanting him to buy his twisted answers.
"Yes, she isn't a human. But being a royal Pure Blooded vampire- she is far more powerful and dangerous than humans. Why do you want to protect her from humans only?" wades retorted back. He was dragging the conversation but sticking to the same question. "That's not the fact. I want to protect her from everything."
"As if I don't know it."
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean, Faust. I had never seen you this protective with werewolves or shifters. Why only humans?" Wades was reluctant to leave without a proper explanation this time. It seemed he was adamant on having to know the reason. That was the truth. The king had been acting lame regarding Calista's safety with humans.
"I don't want to tell you." The king groaned in annoyance. That's it!
"Are you for real now? Fine, you won't tell me, right! Then I will ask Herbew to confront you. Then I'll see how would you dodge him." Wades made another annoying remark. He was aware that even if Lord let it slide, Herbew would never. It was though, his last weapon.
"You won't do that." Faust glared at Wades hardly, as if ready to launch an attack; for he knew perfectly well how much Herbew cared for his sister. He would even surpass his father in protecting her. "Ahh... you are really annoying Wades."
"I know that." Wades agreed with that remarkable compliment provided by Faust.
"When she was born, there was a forecast made by the royal monk. He said she would end up getting killed by a human." Faust briefed the scenario; for he didn't want to dig deep into it. It reminded him of the fact that his dear daughter's life was always in danger. "It can't be true? It's not like royal monk is God. He can't predict everything. Faust..?" Wades tugged on Faust's arm asking him in a fire hope of getting this all wrong, that he would hear Faust say that he had been mistaken. But no. Faust didn't respond. "If that is the truth, then why are you sending her to Mr. Cimberland's party? There will be humans only..!" Wades' question was quite reasonable. If Calista was going to be killed by a human, then shouldn't they be extra careful while she was with humans!! "I know. But Royal monk said that human will be from our kingdom. Since only Calista will be heading to the party from our kingdom with vampire guards, so I can be assured that she would be safe. Moreover, I will give her the Mimica Herb to hide her scent, so that she can blend with humans." Faust said suturing his lips.
"I don't understand this. We should talk to the royal monk once again. It been 30 years. Maybe... I mean maybe, something would have changed by now." Wades suggested.
"He won't see us. He made this clear at her birth day. He no longer lives in vampire world. And nobody knows where he is." Faust snorted. He was a Lord, a pure blooded vampire. Nothing was invincible to him, but he couldn't control his dear daughter's fate. "Does Lordess Jasmine..." Wades wanted to know if Calista's mother was aware of the danger lurking over her daughter. Because if she did, she wouldn't have sent her alone.
"No.." But he was not allowed to finish his question, and was answered in the middle. Faust's tone was soft and he looked sad, even if his back was facing Wades. The later waited for him to say something else, at least anything that would be reasonable for him not to tell the girl's mother.
"She won't be able to bear it. She loves Calista more than anything. If she came to know about this, she won't survive. And.... I can't afford to lose both my wife... and my ..." Faust didn't complete his sentence and sucked in a heavy deep breath to stabilize his puzzled state of mind. He couldn't be weak. He was a king, a vampire; everybody feared. He wasn't allowed to be hurt.
"Fate is Cruel." Wades said only this and slipped out of the room with heavy legs and heavy heart, leaving alone the king in hid dilemma and thoughts which were shaking the strong foundation of 'l-will- protect- My- child- always' belief, making him doubt his abilities. -KINGDOM TERRITORIES-
Calista and Herbew were taking a stroll in the kingdom assisted by their royal guards and some of the maids, in case they needed anything. The commoners were watching were them doey eyes and envying brother-sister bond. It wasn't a hidden fact that prince Herbew doted over his dear sister.
"Brother, it's been just one month but it feels like I have been gone for too long. See, there are so many new shops now." Calista initiated a conversation with Herbew who was just wandering his attentive eyes here and there to make sure everything was safe. His ears caught her blabbering.
"Hmm.. Father allowed some of the humans goods to be sold her in vampire kingdom." Herbew replied looking at those sellers who were trying to attract customers using various means. He continued further.
"Many vampires started to invade human world for these stuffs in the past few days. It had become quite problematic for both the worlds. Some cases of vampires hurting humans had also been reported due to this. Hence, father came up with that idea. Now, we purchase those goods from humans and then some of the SOOPERS are designated to sell them at the lowest possible prices for every commoner to afford."
"That is very thoughtful of father. Besides I always consider that SOOPERS are not the ones who will ever harm us. They are just humans and we... are vampires." Calista reasoned with more understanding for that decision.
"Well, we can't trust anyone. The humans here all are aware of who we are. They can hurt any common vampire if they are fed our secrets. So, it's always good to be precautious." Herbew reasoned back.
"Brother! When are you going to give me a beautiful sister-in-law?" Calista asked out of the blue taking Herbew off guard. She knew very well that it had always been a touchy topic for him. Still she always teased him. He didn't heed her words and acted as if he was thin air. Understanding how thick skinned he was, she came up with an idea.
"I think, I should talk to father. When he will order you, only then will you give me a beautiful sister-in-law. Or...( she wiggled her eyebrows playfully).. do you want me to find one for you?"
Hebrew's nerves alerted the instant second she proposed to find a wife for him. He was clenching his jaws tightly oy to hold himself back. He had agreed once in the past on his mother's request to look for a suitable wife, but all he ended up was with stupid girls. He couldn't believe that all those were vampire girls! Living with humans had made them stupid. According to him.
The past meetings with girls arranged by his mother had flashed across his eyes, and the hairs over his neck rose. It was a t*****e. Since then, he swore to not look for a wife.
"No. No need for that." Herbew retorted immediately.
Calista grew more attentive. She knew he was hiding something. Since she was a very little child at that time, so she didn't know about his misfortune. Pouting angrily, her next words made even the guards burst out with a laughter. "Do you wish to die virgin?"
Herbew couldn't believe what he heard! Really!! When did this girl started to nag like his mother and father. The maids and guards were enjoying the scenario between siblings, and laughing out. He glared at them. Everybody shut out. "Fine. I will look for one." She jumped in excitement, but his finger in mid-air landed her over ground.... "But, you won't talk to mother or father about this. And... I will look for my future wife myself." She nodded like a child and they kept on strolling talking over the random stuff.
