Anything For You -
Chapter 156
RELATABLE QUOTE: "The king's missions are bound to sacrifice innocents, and I know that you would choose wisely."
"It's been quite a lot of time since I have been waiting. Where is Silvan? And where the hell is that guard?" Dankein's roaring tone was heard in the meeting room. The other guards were getting scolded. While the human guard who had been sent to convey Silvan the message hadn't returned yet. Alfie was still tucked in Dankein's arms, though not as snugging as earlier. The cat was still sighing deeply times and again. Dankein found its behavior strange a bit, but let it go.
"Master, we have sent some men to look for him." One of the guards answered looking fearful at the tone Dankein just used to question them. He was reluctant first to open his mouth and let the things slip out.
"For whom?" There came the next question from Dankein's side.
"For... For Timothy, your Highness." The second guard whispered back; his head dropping down, not caring to look at his agitated king in the anxiety of losing his little life.
"And who... is this Timothy, now?" Dankein was losing his last shreds of patience in conversation with those poor humans. He had been beyond agitated now. First, the guard didn't report back, and second Silvan didn't come to the meeting room. He wasn't even certain whether Silvan got his orders or not.
"The...guard that had been sent to the lowermost dark rooms of Castle, My Lord. He... He is Timothy." The first guard reported this time with a voice full of courage.
"Find him, and if not found within five minutes... then you...(pointing at the first guard who reported about Timothy).....you would go to the Dark Souls Alley and convey my order to Silvan." Dankein barked out.
The poor human had nothing to do except nod his head in a yes.
Before any other scary orders could befall upon them, another royal guard came and seemed an audience with the king Dankein. Dank looked at him and gestured for him to blurt out.
Trevor, the messenger clapped once, and there emerged three men, who belonged to Dream-catchers clan, dragging the guard Timothy, while the latter was trying to get himself free yelling and roaring.
"Your Highness, we found this human yelling like a madman in the middle rooms. He looked like he came from the lowermost Dark Alley. We thought he might be possessed by the Dark Souls, so we captured him." Trevor briefed the events.
Dankein averted his gazes from Trevor and fixated on Timothy, whose condition said it all. He looked like he had endured mental pain. Dankein was trying to connect with him when Alfie just interfered and meow-ed loudly, warning him not to do so. Initially, Dankein just wanted to check on Timothy and enquire about how and what had happened in the Dark Alley, but then he remembered that Alfie had never been wrong regarding humans. He stepped a few steps back off the yelling Timothy, and gestured Trevor to take him away,
"Take him to the royal infirmary, and treat his health. Keep me informed. And you...(pointing at the first guard)...find out about his family members and take care of them till he is good enough to do so."
Trevor and the guard both nodded in agreement and excused themselves bowing. While everybody left the room, Dankein caressed Alfie's back and questioned her, "Do you think that Silvan did something to him?"
Instead of Alfie's meow, he heard a peal of laughter, a dark sarcastic laughter and he knew who that belonged to.
"How could you blame me, King Dankein? I never even touched your human messenger." Silvan's voice rang in the whole meeting room, while the dark clouds started hovering in various places at the same time. "Silvan, take a seat first. If you continue to linger everywhere in this room, I am afraid that...we won't get to discuss how to provide you a physical life!" Dance in suggested Silvan and sat over the king chair kept in the middle of the meeting room, with Alfie in his lap. The cat had been starting in one direction.
"I truly like your cat, King Dankein," Silvan said the words and heard a growl from Dankein. The gloomy clouds thinned a bit, showcasing that Silvan wouldn't do any stupid mistakes this time.
Slowly, all the smoke and Dark clouds concentrated in one of the chairs kept ahead of Dankein and the room cleared for Dank to see apparently through everything.
"So, have you decided who would be my vessel, king Dankein Cosh?" Silvan snickered from the chair he had been taken a seat over just now. His tone was filled with emotion as if he was just here just to crack a deal; not to mention that he had been waiting for too long.
Dankein wasn't a man of immature persona. He had lived for centuries, and now he could see through everything and everyone quite barely. Although, Silvan was a soul- a dark soul feeding on the negative thoughts, worries, and upheaval in people's minds, yet Dankein knew how desperate he was to have a human body. For Silvan, it was becoming quite difficult to keep his energy gathered in one place, and this energy was the source of his power which he couldn't afford to lose at all.
"So desperate, ha?" Dankein mocked Silvan with the same sinister expressions and his hands never stopped stroking the cat's back, while the animal continued staring deep into the dark smoky clouds hovering over the chair.
"You know better who is desperate here, King Cosh. I mean, you... called me. I was resting in my Alley." Silvan made his point and displayed a sarcastic tone while doing so as he had noticed the sudden change of expressions over Dankein's face. "I reflected on your proposal. But I need your help for longer times." Dance in uttered.
"Hmm...so this is what you called me in for? At least, it's a good thing. Now we would have a fair deal." Silvan said and stayed silent for a little while, and continued,
"Fine then... tell me what I can I do for you, My King?" His tone was still drenched in mockery and sinisterness, but Dankein; however hateful he felt for the smoky soul ahead of him, only this could help him. He endured.
"I am on a mission, and I can't afford to fail. So, look through it and help me to succeed." Dankein just briefed Silvan.
"Woo, woo, whoa... King Dankein. I will help you, but what would I get in return?" Silvan wasn't convinced with Dankein and his ways of handling things. He wasn't staying in the Dark Alley because he wanted to, but because he had nowhere to go, and Dankein was keeping him captivated. "What do you desire?" Dankein was straightforward with his words.
"You know it. Still, I will repeat it. I, Silvan, the leader of Dark Souls desire a human body as my vessel. So, you provide me with that vessel and I will help you with whatever your mission is with whatsoever I have in my reach."
Dankein thought for a second and agreed. "But I will choose my vessel," Silvan added exactly right before Dankein nodded. So, the king had agreed to his demand unknowingly.
"Fine, I will let you choose your vessel. In return, I want to know everything about the Grand Empress of Azure clan." Dankein said, and the cat just wailed its tail. The animal was still peeking into those dark smokes, and flaring its nose and fur periodically. "Consider your order fulfilled. I want that guard, Timothy." Silvan said without even a flinch in his voice.
"Timothy has a family to take care of. Choose anyone else." Dankein had denied. He was the king. He could go back on his words easily. It wasn't the case that this smoky formless dark energy would judge him, and if it would, he didn't give a damn.
"I won't harm them. I just want him. He is pathetic. And is ideal for me. The weaker the vessel is, the more easily it will adapt to my likeliness. Now, the ball is in your court, King Dankein Cosh. And I know you would choose wisely because the king's mission is far more important than a mere servant's consciousness; not to mention a human." Silvan said his part and jeered.
Dankein thought for a split second and looked at Alfie who had already been staring into his hooded eyes. He now understood why she kept on sighing over Timothy's name occasionally. The cat already was aware of his impoverished fate.
