Arrow Inferno
Chapter 78: Stanley ‘STAN’ Norris vs. Ian ‘WILL’ Williams ~ Mated!

***

The three who were seated went to stand beside Paige and watched as Stan strode towards the entrance of the jungle room with a passed-out Will over his shoulder. The cocky grin he threw at them made everyone laugh including the two guards. He stopped at the entrance and turned to face his friends and elder.

"Anyone buzzing as I am?" he drawled, and then laughed when Philip and Ryan pointed at Paige. "Wanna join me in there?" No one missed the teasing glint in his eyes. "Oh, hell no." Paige laughed.

A freshly transformed wolf was very dangerous to be around. Such wolves were usually in such a murderous rage they would try to kill anything that moved. Until they learnt to control their wolves and the thirst for violence, it was best to stay clear of them.

"Chicken." Stan chuckled as he entered the jungle room with his mate. He stood and breathed in the earthy scent which emanated from the potted plants strategically placed in the corners of the room. Just like any wolf would, he loved it. "Sweet."

One of the guards went in with them and pulled out the wall bed for Stan to place Will on it. As Stan took off Will's trainers, he instructed the guard to leave and lock the door. The guard did as instructed leaving Stan and a sleeping Will in the confines of the cool jungle-themed room where cool music was pouring from the speakers hidden inside the walls. Usually, a premier shifter would be left alone in a room to shift on their own due to how dangerous they could be. But Philip had set a precedent by staying with Troy throughout his premier shift. Stan planned on doing the same for Will.

The door was made of solid vertical iron bars so the others could see what was going on inside it. There were other rooms for premier shifting but the jungle room was reserved for premier shifters of rank. It was a beautiful room. The walls, which were made of solid stones and the ceiling were covered with colourful artistic murals that were almost lifelike in their portrayal of a jungle. The plush wall-to-wall grass-like carpet completed the look. That sense of nature and peace in the jungle room was supposed to make a wolf feel comfortable and at home during a shift.

Stan went to the cute wall refrigerator and took out a bottle of water to drink. Beside the refrigerator was a door that had a biometric device. It led directly into the Stanton Woods and could only be accessed by a selected few. Stan punched in a code to activate the device and then moved to a door on the other side of the room. It opened into a cute room where premier shifters could relax after their shift. Stan had ordered it to be cleaned and readied the day before because he had a feeling it would come in handy. He shut the door and then turned to his audience.

"Looks like nothing is happening for now." He grinned. "Why don't you guys go get some sleep? I will call you if I need your help."

"I don't mind staying." Ryan shrugged.

"We're staying," Philip said.

"As we all know, there's going to be a lot of pain." Stan began. "Will is a proud man. He wouldn't want y'all to see him in that state. I'll call immediately it gets too much or weird." "What was the dosage? Normal or over?" Philip asked carefully, his eyes showing a degree of genuine curiosity laced with some suspicion.

"Over," Stan said quietly, his tone laced with a touch of defiance. "Six weeks is too much, Lip. And that's even the minimum." He combed his fingers through his hair in a sign of agitation as he tried to justify his actions to his boss. "I can't let this distract his life. His system needs to acclimatize quickly so that he can get back to work."

"Shit," Paige swore. Will was going to be in a lot of pain. "He's got a point, Lip." She addressed her brother and alpha. "The Arrowheads will ask questions if he's gone for long. We don't want that heat on us. I also agree with Stan about giving them some space. I'd hate for anyone to see me writhing in pain and puking my guts all over the place."

Usually, the venom deposited into an individual would duplicate itself immediately in the bloodstream of the person. That usually caused some pain. It took roughly six to nine weeks to fully integrate with the human cell. Depending on the quantity of venom released into the individual, the transformation could be faster...and more painful.

It was only after the venom become fully integrated with the human cells that the human would become a werewolf. Stan had deposited more venom because he wanted Will's process to be faster to enable him get back to his life. "I'm hoping that with the help of his gift, things would be faster and smoother." Stan's eyes reflected his hope but it also showed just how nervous he was. "He has to pull through, Lip." His voice cracked. "He has to." He added in a whisper. All four watching Stan glimpsed the raw emotions on his face. That was so unlike the Stan they knew.

Philip stepped forward and reached through the bars to draw Stan's head to his. The two friends leaned their foreheads against each other's for a moment before the alpha let Stan go and stepped back.

"He'll be fine, son," Deloris said softly. "That's one unique mate you have there."

Stan nodded. "Thank you."

"Should we bring you something to eat?" Ryan asked.

"Last thing on my mind is food," Stan sighed. "I'm good." Then suddenly, there was that naughty grin that everyone was used to. They were not fooled though.

"Call me immediately after he wakes up, got it?" Philip's tone brooked no argument.

"Roger that, boss."

"Shall we?" Philip addressed the others.

"Oh and Lip?" Stan's voice held some naughty undertones. "Get someone to clean the east-wing elevator will ya."

"Nasty motherfucker." The alpha murmured with a chuckle. "Sorry, Deloris."

"You're right, alpha." Deloris sniggered. "He is a nasty motherfucker."

"Aw come on, Del..." Stan groaned even as he watched his laughing pack members leave. Only the two guards remained. "Gotta get some sleep whilst I can, guys," Stan told them. "See you later," He said as he hit a button on the wall. "Alright, boss." Both guards responded as wooden blinds dropped down to cover the metal bars such that the jungle room couldn't be seen by anyone standing outside it.

Stan drank the rest of the water and dropped the bottle into a bin. Then he took off his t-shirt and went to his mate. Even though the room was cool, Will was sweating like a pregnant fish. Stan completely stripped Will and then took his stuff into the room. He came back with a fresh pair of boxers and a wet towel to clean him up. When he was satisfied that his mate was clean, he put the boxers on him and then laid by his side.

"Hang in there, baby." Stan leaned down to press a gentle kiss to Will's lips. He never knew it was possible to miss a person who was right there beside him.

Although Stan wished his mate would open his eyes and speak to him, he knew that the man was better off passed out. He pressed his index and middle fingers to Will's inner wrist to check his pulse. It felt slightly fast but nothing out of the ordinary.

"I miss you so much," Stan whispered as he ran his fingers gently through Will's hair. "I'm so sorry you have to go through all this pain."

Stan closed his eyes and concentrated on his mate's heartbeat. He needed to know the moment that heart started to beat out of rhythm or at an unhealthy speed. Until then, he had no intention of waking Will up. If only he could take his pain, Stan thought with a groan. It was all up to Luna now. With a sigh, he wrapped an arm around Will.

Then he waited!
