Arrow Inferno
Chapter 89: Stanley ‘STAN’ Norris vs. Ian ‘WILL’ Williams ~ Finding a solution!

***

"What I'm saying and have been saying for the past forty-five minutes is that wolfing out is what we need to prevent," Deloris sighed. "So allow me to bind his wolf..."

"No!" About six people including Will bellowed in unison, drawing laughter from the rest.

"Typical wolves." Deloris rolled her eyes in exasperation.

"I mean the wolf is what we are," Jeremy said tensely. "Binding it is like..."

"Imprisoning us." Philip finished.

"Thank you, Lip," Jeremy nodded. "What's the use of just sitting inside a locked cell?"

"You can't do shit," Paige drawled. "Will will be fucked."

"Totally," Jeremy said. "He'll feel weak and useless if you bind that wolf. He might as well not go on the mission."

"Well, maybe he shouldn't," Stan muttered crankily.

"Stanley..." Jeremy groaned but then shook his head in amusement when he saw Will grabbing his mate's clenched fist and kissing the knuckles.

"Can't he use his warlock powers to control his wolf?" Paige asked.

"Now, let's get something straight," Deloris began another lecture. "He is not a warlock. He's a werewolf with some abilities. Abilities that we don't even know for now. It will take some time and monitoring to know exactly what those abilities are." "We know he can blink." Paige quipped.

"And I'm very sure there are others." Deloris laughed when Will rolled his eyes. "But he's no warlock and therefore doesn't have enough juice to control his beast," Deloris stated. "That blinking though..." She grinned. "Your mate is special, Stan."

"I know." The pride on Stan's face and in his voice drew sniggers from the rest.

"What can we do besides suppressing his wolf?" Gloria sighed.

"Let Stanley go on that mission with him." Joel boomed.

"Uncle Jo, he can't," Will laughed. Like him, the rest looked surprised at the suggestion.

"Yes, he can." The elderly man countered. "Del can always spell his crazy arse such that you will be the only person to see, hear, or touch him."

"Oh, my god that's genius, Uncle Jo." Stan gushed.

"What?" Will gasped, completely shocked.

"Hold on," Jeremy raise a hand when everyone began to speak at the same time. "How long is this mission supposed to..."

"A month," Will answered. "It's a short one. You sure y'all can pull that off?" Will frowned with interest.

"Where there's a will..." Gloria chuckled.

"There's always a way," Jeremy concluded, smiling at his mother. "But are you sure you don't mind remaining invisible for a whole month?" Jeremy's question was directed at Stan.

"The number of fantasies I've had, imagining myself invisible..." Stan moaned, eliciting laughter from those gathered. "Y'all don't have any idea."

"Oh, we do you crazy fucker," Paige laughed.

"And I don't think any of us here is ready to hear about those fantasies so kindly let them stay in that dirty mind of yours, hon." Gloria drawled. She knew exactly what Stan was capable of. "All that matters is that I'll be with him," Stan said, pointing a thumb at Will.

"Or you could let him go and then enjoy all that goes with a fiery reunion when he gets back." Philip drawled.

"Coming from someone who hasn't been away from his mate for more than a few days since mating with him, that's rich," Stan smirked. "Besides we've had enough reunions. I'm just not ready this time."

"Remember, this is not being done just to enable you two continue your honeymoon," The high priestess who had been quiet all that while stated. "It is a job, Stanley. You are to ensure he doesn't expose us which he is very likely to do on his own since he hasn't had any training."

"It's not a fucking honeymoon, thank you!" Paige's joyful shout made everyone laugh and earned her the finger from Stan. "That was a fucking pun by the way," she laughed.

"I'll remember that Ma'am," Stan addressed the high priestess. "Since this is work, I plan on putting in a lot of...hard work by working him hard."

Everyone dissolved into laughter, especially when the high priestess' face turned red. She eventually composed herself enough to raise a hand for silence.

"Deloris, do your thing." The priestess told the warlock. "When are you leaving, young man?" She asked.

"I should be leaving here today to go and prepare because we ship out in the morning, ma'am. But we can leave at dawn." Will replied respectfully as he grinned excitedly at his mate.

"Good. I need the two of you on this, please." She looked from Deloris to Gloria who nodded in agreement. "Since we don't have much time, I suggest he's given a crash course on restraint from now until he leaves at dawn." The high priestess decreed. "You can work on Stan after Will leaves. He can join him later."

"What!" Stan gasped.

"It's all part of the hard work you so gallantly said you were going to put in." The priestess gave Stan a brilliant smile as she stood to leave. "Have fun, boys."

"Shiiiiit!" Paige, Philip, and Jeremy breathed in unison even as Gloria tried to stifle her laughter. The look on Stan's face at that very moment was comical.

"You must be shitting me," Stan growled as he watched the high priestess leave.

"Serves you right, son." Joel chuckled. "You made her blush. She's still not used to our crass talk after all these centuries, you know."

"Lip say something, come on!" Stan groaned. "If I'm not leaving with him at dawn, then we need some time together for fuck's sake."

"Hey, when it comes to that kinda shit, she calls the shots," Philip murmured. "You might as well kiss him goodbye now." His smug look elicited laughter from his friends and a groan from Stan.

"A dawn quickie will suffice," Paige drawled. The friends were having so much fun at Stan's expense. It wasn't often that such a situation presented itself so they savoured it to Stan's annoyance. "Wait...you mean that crash course starts now?" Incredulity flared through Will's eyes.

"It's a crash course, my dear," Gloria laughed. "That means we need to make use of every little time we have.

"There goes our plans for lunchtime," Will murmured.

"I told you we should stay in bed. Now look." Stan snorted. "When will I be joining him, Del? In the evening or the next day?"

"In four days, Stan." Deloris gave an apologetic grimace as she stood and gestured for Will to join her. "What?" Stan bellowed as his friends turned surprised eyes on the elder. They clearly hadn't expected that. "The spell I'm to do for you is no child's play, Stan," Deloris sighed. "I need to be very sure it's airtight."

"I've seen you do more potent spells in seconds, Del come on!" Stan growled. "Did she put you up to this?"

"You know she didn't," Deloris said calmly. "This one involves others, Stanley. You won't be here in the pack house. You're going to be out there...god knows where, amongst people whom we don't know. What if someone has supernatural powers and can sense you? I need to make sure there are no fuck ups."

"Shit!" Stan combed his fingers through his hair in a sign of frustration. "Del, four days is a bit much," Jeremy groaned.

"It should even be more, alpha," the warlock sighed. "I need time."

"Fuck," Philip grunted, moving to his friend's side. "Hey, look at it this way," the alpha spoke softly to Stan. "You won't be apart for a month."

"And how is he going to know where I am?" Will asked as he rubbed a hand against Stan's arm to soothe him.

"When I'm done, all he needs to do is think of you to appear beside you." Deloris smiled with a smug triumph in her eyes. She loved shocking other supernaturals.

"Oh, wow!" Will grinned.

"So this crash course will ensure that you will be able to stay in control until your mate steps in to help," Deloris added.

Stan couldn't suppress his groan. "What if he's unable to stay in control even in that initial..."

"Have some faith in me, Stan," Will grimaced. "I'll be fine," He added softly and then pressed a soft kiss on Stan's lips. "See you at dawn."
