Do you have any idea how gossipy people can be? If they see me getting out of your car, there'll be twenty different stories circulating on the office grapevine by noon. The nicer stories will say you gave me a lift. The nastier ones will say you and I did something X-rated im the car. I know you don't care about what others say about you, but I still have to-

If he didn't stop her, was she going to narrate all twenty stories?

Kira put both palms together like she was praying.

She batted her anime-girl eyes. 'Austyn, Sir, Dear, Honey, you won't make things difficult for me, will you?'

'How can you be so sure I won't?'

Austyn was tempted to let her out of the car just to shut her up.

'Because you're a good person.

Believing that flattery would get her everywhere, Kira lavished praise on the man. 'You have such a good track record. Even before we knew each other, you came to my rescue and saved my father. You're like Prince Charming. Princely in looks and princely in deeds. You're a good person like Mother Teresa was a good nun.'

'Though Prince Charming is not crabby as you,' Kira thought.

Austyn hid a smile. 'Prince Charming rescues princesses. Are you implying that you're at princess?'

Kira wanted to throw up her hands.

The man was being a contrarian on purpose.

'You know that's not what I meant. The analogy was supposed to illustrate a point. The point

is, you're a good man and surely, you won't do something to make me suffer? You have no idea how wild people's imaginations can be. If I wear a blouse that's one size too big to work, dollars to doughnuts, someone will think I'm pregnant. Just the other day- The door lock thunked.
