Kira saw the look on the nurse's face and came to her senses.

Kai gathered the intel overnight.

He stood in the president's office, stifling a yawn

Austyn had roused him out of bed at 2 am and given him the name of the company.

Revency was registered as a media and entertainment company.

It was incorporated in Stamford three years ago.

It had done more than just gain a foothold in the industry, with its key metrics-cost per thousand, unique reach, site visits and so on-qutperforming some of the more established companies. Revency had opted for both organic and inorganic growth, expanding its product offerings as well as acquiring smaller competitors.

All signs pointed to the company's ambition to reach the top.

Austyn drummed a finger on the desk as he skimmed the profile.

'Mergers and acquisitions are a money guzzler. Revency has already acquired two studios.'

'And in talks to buy the third,' added Kai. 'It's not confirmed yet, so I didn't put it in the

report.

Venture capitalists were sharks.

They were not going to throw money at the company just because Liam was the second son of the McCarthy family.

Austyn suspected his father might have given Liam more-than-generous pocket money over the years, but that was nowhere near the startup capital required to break into the media industry.

Kai said, 'Liam Cane has a vice president, his second in command. The man seems to have a hand in setting up the company as well as in pushing the deals through. His name on the corporate registration form is Sean Santoro. But I can't find anything else on him." 'So Cane has found a backer, someone to write the cheques and pull the strings. No wonder he can rise so quickly."

Kai ventured a guess. 'He has been living abroad for several years. Maybe that's where he found his backer.!

Austyn agreed with Kai's assessment.

Liam was staying away and running Revency from behind the scenes.

If he'd shown his face in Stamford three years ago, Austyn would have crushed Revency like a bug.

Austyn leaned back in his leather chair and closed his eyes.

Revency was about four times bigger than Veron Enterprise, but Austun could bring the media company to its knees just as easily.

'Keep an eye on Revency and Cane,' he said after a while. 'Let's see what tricks he still has up his sleeve."
