Bedmates Soulmates
CHAPTER 254

Maybe she should go back to the main hall.

Gideon wouldn't dare make a scene in front of so many people.

"The only way you can leave me'-Gideon leaned in and whispered in her ear-'is over my dead body.'

Her eyes widened.

'Kill me, or come with me,' Gideon said calmly. "Those are your only choices, Kira.

'You are insane!'

Feed Her Body To The Sharks

'Perhaps.' Gideon smiled. 'So, what's your choice going to be? Kill me? Or love me?"

Kira shoved him back.

'I know you don't want me to die.' He held her hand in his. 'Come with me, Kira. I can give you everything.'

Kira prised his fingers off her hand. 'No!'

She was enraged, but he was euphoric.

He had never felt as happy as he did right now, except the day he became Kira's boyfriend four

years ago.

She was right in front of him, large as life.

He got to kiss her, hear her voice, see her lovely face.

Her anger, her frown and even her tantrum only endeared her to him more.

How could he let go of such a vivacious Kira?

And he'd meant it-she had to step over his dead body to leave him.

'Young Master.'

Martin materialised out of nowhere.

He whispered something in Gideon's ear.

Gideon scowled. 'Meet them yourself. I don't have the time right now."

'But you're the head of the Garner family, Young Master. One of them sits on the city council

and the other is a personal friend of the mayor. If they see just an assistant, they're going to feel slighted.

Kira stole towards the main hall.

Her Doppelgänger

Gideon saw Kira's attempt to escape and grabbed her hand.

'Young Master, it's hard to get an opportunity like this again. Martin was persistent.

Gideon breathed out heavily. 'All right."

He said to Kira, 'Don't go anywhere, okay? I'll be back soon."

He looked fixedly at Martin. 'Keep an eye on her. Make sure she's still here when I get back."

'Yes, Young Master.' Martin nodded, remembering what happened at the hospital last time.

The young lady had managed to give him the slip.

As soon as Gideon disappeared from view, Kira started towards the stairs.

She had to get back to the lounge in case Austyn came looking for her.

After a few steps, she stopped, spun around and glared at Martin. "Why are you following me?'

'I'm just following Young Master's orders, Martin said placidly.

'He's your employer, not a slave owner. You don't have to do everything he says, you know.'

Martin just bowed slightly and said nothing.

The young lady was quite feisty.

Was that what attracted Young Master to her?

Kira stood with her arms akimbo. 'I'm going to the ladies' room. Stop following me if you. don't want to be called a pervert.'

She followed the signs and headed for the nearest restroom.

Martin hesitated for a second, but went after her anyway.

Kira stood in front of the sink and washed her hands for the fourth time.

She poked her head outside the door and shrank back immediately when she saw Martin standing guard in the hallway. The man was relentless.

He probably wouldn't leave till she came out.

Kira sighed.

The restroom was huge, with twenty stalls and two rows of back-to-back sinks.

She found a plastic chair in a corner, probably the janitor's.

Kira plopped down on the chair and started thinking.

She wanted to call Austyn, but her phone was left in the clutch bag, which was left in the lounge when Gideon dragged her away. She sighed again.

It seemed that her only move, for now, was to wait it out.

Maybe Gideon's assistant had to answer the call of nature at some point and be forced to leave.

Kira heard a toilet flush.

The door of the second-to-last stall opened.

A woman walked out.

She wore a black knee-length dress with sequins.

Her heels clacked on the tiled floor with a crisp sound.

Kira froze when she saw the woman's face.

She must be hallucinating.

The woman had a face exactly like hers.

Was this a dream?

The woman didn't appear to have noticed Kira in the corner.

She washed her hands, dried them with a paper towel, checked her makeup and then left.

She did not once look in Kira's direction.

Kira remained'motionless in the chair.

Her mouth was hanging open.

She pinched her cheek.

It hurt.

So this wasn't a dream.

She had just met her doppelgänger!

Kira shot to her feet and chased after the woman,

Martin was still there, but his head was lowered, his eyes on a pack of cigarettes.

Kira seized the opportunity and tiptoed away from him, thankful for the carpeted floor which

absorbed the sound of her footsteps.

She started running as soon as she left the hallway.

She glanced back.

Martin wasn't coming after her.

He must not have noticed her.

Kira scanned the hall.

She spotted the woman in the black dress ahead of her, moving towards a large balcony.

Kira approached slowly.

She marvelled at the woman's face in profile-it was almost a carbon copy of hers.

If she didn't know any better, she would've thought Helen had given birth to identical twins.

But Kira soon realised they were not really identical..

The woman was about half a head taller than her, with a fuller figure and longer hair.

She was standing in front of the railing, looking pensive.

'Um, hello. Kira ventured a greeting.

Gwen turned her head.

Kira was taken aback, not by the striking similarity of their faces, but by the complete lack of surprise in the woman's reaction.

Her eyes didn't widen; her brows didn't shoot up; her jaw didn't drop.

Kira recalled her astonishment when she first saw the woman's face, but her doppelgänger didn't appear surprised, not even a little bit.

Did this mean she'd seen Kira before?

Gwen recognised Kira Hewitt on sight.

So this was Gideon's beloved, the woman of his heart, the woman he'd been searching for for the past two years.

Gwen gave her a once-over.

It was like looking into a mirror.

Other than their height difference and Hewitt's slightly more youthful air, they could have passed for identical twins.

Gwen inclined her head. "Hello.

Her DynomigPGHT

Kira pointed to her own face. "This may sound a bit weird, but, um, are we somehow related?"

Maybe Dad had a younger sister or brother somewhere, and this woman was Kira's cousin.

Their faces were so similar that they had to share DNA somehow.

Gwen looked at her with a faint trace of a smile. Miss, this is my first time meeting you. If you are a relative of mine, wouldn't I have seen you before?" Kira scratched her head.

The woman was right.

Kira's question came from nowhere and must have sounded a little impertinent to her.

'Sorry, I was just...surprised. I've never met my doppelgänger before."

'I'm not your doppelgänger,' Gwen thought. 'I'm your stand-in.'

Kira shifted her gaze away, but she couldn't help stealing curious glances at the

Womall..

The more she looked, the

more she was astounded by how similar they were

But she also noticed subtle differences not visible from afar.

For instance, the woman's smile, though charming, was a little too symmetrical and too... perfect.

Both corners of her mouth were raised by exactly the same degree.

Only the muscles around her mouth moved.

There was no slight crinkling of the nose, no tiny wrinkles around the. eyes.

Kira looked away.

Gwen noticed Hewitt's inquisitive gaze.

When she sensed Gwen looking at her, Kira offered a polite, sheepish grin.

It irked Gwen.

Roy/Veny Austyn Mamed You

I Know Why Austyn Married You

Kira Hewitt was a little forward, but she was also friendly.

That dress made her look like a young princess who should live in a castle and be doted on by everyone around her.

She was nothing like the temperamental, hot-headed scamp Gideon described.

Gwen would have liked her if they'd met under any other circumstances.

But she couldn't.

The more likeable Kira Hewitt was, the harder it was to draw Gideon away from her.

Gwen would have much preferred if Hewitt was an arrogant, spoiled diva.

She took a deep breath to calm the rising tide of irritation in her bosom.

'I have somewhere else to be,' she said evenly. 'If you'll excuse me, miss."

'Oh, okay. Sorry to have bothered you.' Kira offered an apologetic smile and stood aside to let Gwen pass.

She had more questions, but the woman was clearly not in the mood for conversation.

Kira resisted the urge to snap a picture of the woman.

She didn't have her phone with her anyway.

She wanted to have proof when she recounted this strange encounter to Austyn later.

Without a picture, he probably wouldn't believe she'd found her doppelgänger.

Austyn knew the event organiser.

Maybe he had a way to find out the woman's name.

'Kira Hewitt!'

Kira turned around when she heard her name.

That voice was familiar.

She raised an eyebrow when she saw who it was.

Kayleigh Woods was standing in the shadows behind a potted plant.

What was she doing here?

Kira started walking away.

She had no interest in talking to the actress.

That woman had brought her nothing but trouble

"Stop!" Kayleigh raised her voice. "I want to talk to you!

""But I don't want to talk to you

I have something to tell you!!

"Not interested"

Kayleigh stomped her feet.

'Don't you want to know why Austyn murried you

Her words stopped Kira dead in her tracko.

She clenched her fists.

She'd posed the question to Austyn betone, but he prevaricated and gave her a tongue- cheek answer

He said he married her out of charity

Kira wasn't convinced, but she knew better than to post

Austyn helped save her father

That was a fact

She shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth,

The motive for his action, whatever it was, studn't matter, right?

So Kira let it go.

But doubt

lingered

It gnawed away at her mind.

Could Kayleigh really have the answer?

Kira wanted to walk away

'I don't care," she said to herself.

But her feet refused to move

"Stop lying to yourself, another voice said in her heart. "You do cate

Kira huffed, spun around and marched over to Kayleigh. "Why?"

Kayleigh smiled "Follow me. Let's find a quiet place to talk'

"Why can't we just talk bere?" Kira didn't want to go anywhere with her

'I'm a high-profile actress.' Kayleigh raised her chin. 'Once people see me, they're going to want photos and autographs.'

Kira recalled the last time she left with Kayleigh. Where's your henchman?"

'If you mean my bodyguard, he took the day off."

The truth was, Frank had been recalled by the company, along with Kayleigh's agent, assistants and chauffeur.

MS Entertainment was forcing Kayleigh to take a one-year break from her career.

All thanks to this Hewitt woman.
