Bedmates Soulmates
CHAPTER 258

Kira had a rebellious streak, but she would never run out on him without notice.

Besides, she was not picking up his calls.

The last time that happened, she'd lost her phone in a hospital room.

Austyn knew how much she treasured that old Samsung phone.

She'd never let it out of her sight.

Unless she couldn't come to the phone.

An idea suddenly occurred to Austyn.

Georgina was thrown out of the hotel, but she wasn't the only one who had it in for Kira.

Austyn headed for the door. 'Gideon, I gotta go. Let's meet up another time.'

'Sure.' Gideon was just as preoccupied.

He saw no signs of either Kira or Gwen.

There was a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Austyn's wife went missing at the same time as Kira and Gwen.

It was too much of a coincidence and was starting to make him uneasy.

Kira woke up with a splitting headache and black dots swimming in front of her eyes.

Her arms and legs felt soft like overcooked noodles.

She blinked away the black dots.

Her doppelgänger was sitting on the floor, leaning against a wall made of wire mesh.

Her face was the last thing Kira saw before she passed out.

Kira softly banged her head against the mesh. 'Stupid!'

She was stupid for falling into Kayleigh's trap again.

Stupid for believing Kayleigh knew the true reason Austyn married her.

Stupid for thinking Kayleigh wouldn't do anything to her in such a public venue.

Stupid for thinking Kayleigh didn't bring backup.

Kira cursed herself, then cursed Kayleigh Woods,

She thought the actress had looked deranged, but she'd never expected Kayleigh to be so crazy as to kidnap her!

Kira was filled with self-reproach.

Her stupidity had not only landed herself in trouble, but also dragged an innocent woman into

1. it.

Kira struggled to sit up.

Shipy Stuped, Stupid!

She scanned the surroundings.

They were in a giant cage, the kind used to transport big wildlife.

The cage stood by itself in a big empty room with concrete, unpainted walls.

There was a staircase leading to an upper level.

Kira scooted over to the woman, whose eyes were closed.

Kira nudged her. 'Hey, wake up."

Gwen's eyes fluttered open.

She touched a hand to the back of her head and winced in pain.

There was a big bump on the lower left part of her head.

Her attacker had hit her pretty hard.

Gwen closed her eyes when she felt the room spin.

'Are you okay?' Kira asked.

Gwen took several deep breaths and didn't answer.

'We're locked up inside an iron cage. There's no one outside."

Gwen swept her eyes over the room.

Kira was right.

The place looked abandoned.

The floor was covered in dust and strewn with yellowed newspapers.

It appeared to be either a disused factory or an old warehouse.

Gwen pushed the wire mesh.

It didn't move an inch.

There was a huge padlock on the door.

'I tried,' Kira said. 'I couldn't break it or pick the lock."

The padlock was on the other side of the door.

The holes in the wire mesh were too small for Kira to stick her hand through.

Gwen leaned against the cage wall.

Her face was pale.

Kira was afraid to touch her.

Stupid Shupiu, Stupid

'She must be feeling very scared right now,' Kira thought.

So was she.

But she'd had some time to adjust to the situation.

Her heart was still pounding, but it no longer threatened to jump out of her chest.

'I don't think I know your name, Kira ventured.

Maybe conversation could take their mind off things.

'Reyes.'

'Miss Reyes, I'm terribly sorry for dragging you into this."

Kira felt incredibly guilty.

Kayleigh's target was her.

Miss Reyes was just trying to help.

Gwen glanced at Kira sideways. 'You know who's behind this?"

'I have an idea.'

'Was it the woman you were talking to earlier?"

'I can't be hundred per cent sure.' Kira didn't see who attacked her, but she remembered hearing a man's voice. 'But I think, yes, probably." Gwen rubbed her eyebrows.

Her braided top knot was undone.
