Bedmates Soulmates -
CHAPTER 386
Now that he finally saw her again, he wished he could hold her in his arms forever.
However
Gideon sensed Kira didn't share his sentiment.
There was no smile on her face when she saw him.
Just astonishment.
When he hugged her, she squirmed and tried to push him away.
He thought it was because of the nurses.
He knew how shy his Kira could be,
so he released his hold on her.
But now that they were alone in the room, she was still avoiding him.
Her back was to him; her head was lowered.
She had not spoken a word since they came in.
It was as if he was a stranger.
Did she still hate him?
For sleeping with Georgina, and for leaving without saying goodbye..
Gideon sighed quietly.
He couldn't hold in his desire anymore and raised a hand, wanting to touch her.
Kira stood up abruptly.
'I need to use the restroom
She practically ran into the ensuite bathroom and banged the door shut.
Gideon's hand fell to his side.
He scanned the
It was a VIP ward for sure, with a wall-mounted TV, a minibar a vase with freshly cut flowers on the bedside table and luxury linen on the bed.
It looked more like a five-star hotel room than a ward.
Helen's voice sounded in his head again.
"Kira has a sugar daddy now."
"She's the mistress of a rich man.
'She was chauffeured around in a fancy car and dined at a high-end restaurant."
'You might be disappointed when you find her.'
Gideon did not fall for Helen's trick.
He knew the woman had always had it in for Kira, though it was hard to understand why a mother would hate her own daughter.
Helen was as spiteful as she was snobbish.
But then he got the address from Liam
He came; he saw, he started to have doubts.
The ward was Class A1, typically reserved for dignitaries.
Admission required reference.
It wasn't the kind of room that could be bought with just money.
Gideon had seen enough over the past two days to form a conclusion: it wasn't the kind of room that Kira could afford.
She was a university student.
Even if she'd won the lottery, she still lacked the connections to get her father in here.
Gideon hated to think that Helen might have been telling the truth.
Could Kira have gone down the wrong path?
Gideon cast his eyes to the closed bathroom door, his fists clenched.
Kira stared at her face in the mirror.
Her eyes were red and puffy.
Her face was pale.
She was a mess.
Kira turned on the tap and splashed cold water on her face.
She placed her hand on her belly, breathed in through her nose, then breathed out.
She repeated the breathing exercise until some clarity returned to her mind.
Kira straightened her back and squared her shoulders.
She couldn't hide in the bathroom forever.
She wasn't ready to face Gideon yet, but she just had to take it as it came.
Kira took another deep breath and dried her face with a paper towel. She patted her cheeks.
As soon as she pushed the
the door open, she rammed headlong into a solid wall of muscles.
Kira hit her nose and staggered back.
She lost her balance; her arms failed.
She was about to fall when an arm shot out in time to steady her.
""Watch out!"
Gideon pulled her in, arms wrapped around her waist.
He couldn't help but take a sniff of her hair, intoxicated by her scent.
Kira bumped her forehead against his chest
Gideon had changed.
His features had matured from those of a rakish boy band member to those of a man.
Physically, he was stronger and sturdier, no longer the lanky teen who always seemed to outgrow his clothes every few month Kira inhaled the warm mint of his cologne.
It reminded her of Austyn.
Kira struggled out of Gideon's arms, pressing a hand against the wall.
Her eyes were downcast.
I'm fine. Thank you."
Gideon stared at her.
Her long lashes were trembling.
He wanted to draw her back in, but he was afraid of scaring her.
His eyes burned.
His entire body ached with a throbbing soreness.
It was like dangling a bag of cocaine in front of an addict's eyes; every fibre of his being screamed out at wanting her. Kira blinked.
Once she caught her breath, she stepped around Gideon but had to stop when a pain shot through her ankle
She hissed in pain.
