Bedmates Soulmates -
CHAPTER 461
Doctor Chase The Errand Boy
She disappeared from view.
Austyn slammed a fist down on the bed.
The sudden movement sent a sharp pain to his side.
She really left.
Austyn saw the towel she'd left behind.
He picked it up and flung it across the room.
Where was she going?
Probably straight to the ICU, back to Gideon, where she wanted to be all along!
She wouldn't have come up here if Jesse hadn't asked her to.
She'd left in such a hurry like she couldn't wait to get out of the room, away from him.
Austyn eyed the IV needle in the back of his hand,
What was the point of getting well?
It was not as if she cared whether he lived or died...
A throbbing pain started in his temples.
Austyn closed his eyes.
They snapped open at the sound of the door banging open.
'Come on.' Kira was holding the door open and talking to someone in the hallway. Austyn stared.
Didn't she leave?
A nurse jogged into view, panting. 'You walked too fast."
'Sorry, I just wanted to get you here ASAP. His IV bag's almost empty.'
The nurse caught her breath and came into the room.
'You shouldn't be up,' she said when she saw Austyn sitting up in bed. 'Please lie down. Don't
move so much or it might cause your blood to flow back into the tube."
She put a palm on his shoulder, urging him to lie back.
Austyn cooperated without making a fuss.

His eyes were still on Kira.
She was hovering nearby, watching the nurse's every move.
The nurse changed the IV bag and wiped away a drop of blood from Austyn's hand.
She said to Kira with a solemn look, 'Keep an eye on him. Don't let him move again. Backflow is no joke.
'I will, thank you.'
Kira saw the nurse out and closed the door.
She turned around and felt the intense gaze trained on her face.
Kira rolled her eyes and sat down on a chair facing the window.
She was not going near him again.
The room fell into silence.
The window was open, allowing a draught to blow through the room.
Birds chirped outside.
Kira grew heavy-eyed.
She had not slept for almost forty hours.
And she was dying for a shower.
But she couldn't leave Austyn unattended.
She wouldn't put it past him to vank out the IV needle and sneak out of the room if no one was watching him.
She pinched her thigh to stay awake.
She looked out the window.
When she could no longer ignore the gaze burning a hole in her back, she whipped her head around. 'What are you staring at? Shouldn't you be sleeping?" 'Come here.'
Kira turned back and ignored him.
Austyn groaned.
Kira's head whirled back.
He was trying to sit up again.
Kira sighed.
She shot to her feet and stomped back to the bed. 'What on earth are you doing?'
Austyn tilted his head to the left. 'Call the nurse.
'What's wrong? Are you okay?"
'I'm fin
fine. Just call the nurse.' He gestured towards the call button beside the bed. Kira pressed it.
The same nurse returned two minutes later, loolding a little impatient. 'What?"
'Get Jesse in here,' Austyn said.
'Jesse, as in Doctor Chase?'
'Yes, him."
Doctor Chase is off duty. He's

'I don't need to see a doctor. Just get Jesse here."
The nurse looked uncertain, but then she recalled the patient was friend of the doctor.
'Okay, I'll go get him. Will you please stop moving?"
Kira said as soon as the nurse left, 'Did you hear her? Please lie back in bed and stop moving."
Jesse came five minutes later.
He'd changed out of his lab coat. "There are other doctors at the hospital, you know. They may not be as handsome or as experienced as me, but they can take care of a simple fever. Why must you drag me back when I'm about to go home?' He whipped out a thermometer. 'Since I'm here, might as well do my job. Say 'Aaah."
Austyn let him take his temperature.
Jesse checked the reading. "Thirty-nine-point-one. Slightly better.'
He put away the thermometer. 'Now can I go? I have a date with a queen-sized bed and I'm
late."
"There's a supermarket across the street,' Austyn said. 'Help me get a set of toiletries and some women's clothes.'
'Hey, I'm not your errand boy.' Jesse protested.
