His eyes travelled up from her legs to the t-shirt

The morning sun was behind her, turning the flimsy fabric of the t-shirt translucent. Austyn turned away.

If he stared any longer, he wasn't sure he could control his lust.

'Can you sit up?' Kira poured another glass of water and bent down to help him.

'Stay back!' Austyn shouted.

The t-shirt had a loose round collar.

He saw everything.

What had gotten into him?

Her first reaction was to wipe away the water with her hand, but she caught herself.

It would only make things worse.

'Don't you think you need to do something about it?' Austyn asked, teasing. 'I didn't bring a change of clothes, you know."

Austyn didn't hear her.

His eyes were riveted on the front of her t-shirt.

Austyn added a mental note to give his doctor friend a hefty tip later.

Then he pulled Kira down and kissed her.

He pried open her lips with his tongue and started exploring eagerly.

She didn't want to respond, but her body had its own ideas.

Kira wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and glared at the man.

'Come in,' Austyn said in a louder voice.

The door opened by a crack.

Kai poked his head through, checking.

Then he came inside.

"What's in the bag?"

Kai set down the valise. 'Doctor Chase called me. I drove to the villa after leaving the office. Elsie packed this for Young Madam."

"Thank you.' Kira picked up the travelling bag.

"You're welcome, Young Madam. Kai kept his eyes trained on the floor.

He'd glimpsed how short Kira's t-shirt was.

'I'll go get changed.' Kira fled to the bathroom and closed the door.

Austyn sat up in bed. 'Any urgent business at the office?'

'No, I took care of most of them. Just need your signatures on some forms.'

Kai handed over a briefcase.

Austyn took it. 'I'll get to it later.'

He kept an eye on the bathroom door and asked in a low voice, 'What did your

find?

Kai leaned in. 'I put Stefan on the earliest available flight to Bradford, the city closest to Milton with an airport. The plane touched down two and a half hours ago. He's at Milton right now. The Hewitt family is quite well-known locally. He found their old address and talked to a couple of neighbours. They confirmed that the Hewitts had a foster son but couldn't recall the boy's name.'

'And?' Austyn saw the hesitation on Kai's face.

'One of the old men Stefan talked to, he said, uh, he said that he only remembered the boy because of a scandal.'

'What scandal?'

'Um...'

'Spill it!'

'He said that Young Madam slept with the foster boy. It caused quite a stir, because the boy had taken the Hewitt name, which made him a brother to Young Madam. Some called it ince...'

Kai couldn't bring himself to finish the word.

Austyn clenched his jaw.

Kai quickly added, 'But of course it's just a rumour. We can't put too much stock in it."

'I know."

Austyn didn't believe a word of it.

She stood in front of the mirror, smoothed out the wrinkles in her t-shirt and made sure her cheeks were no longer flushed.

Kai stopped talking the moment Kira came out.

She narrowed her eyes. 'Are you guys talking about me?"

'But Kai needs to brief you on work. What's the point of me staying here? I need to go see

someone.'

'I didn't say you can leave."

Kira confirmed her suspicion-the man was angry.

But not at Kai.

Austyn was mad at her.

Kira was both confused and exasperated.

She hadn't done anything to provoke him.

She glared at Kai. 'Get out of my way."
