Billionaire's Betrayal: My Ex Beg Me To Love Him Again -
Chapter 0036
Chapter 0036
William's POV:
My pride wouldn't let me admit it, but the sight of Caroline hurting herself would haunt me for many days. For the many years I'd known Caroline, she'd never been so brutal towards herself.
Yes, I had been planning on forcing an examination on her, but I'd just wanted to make sure that her body was okay and that she wasn't going to up and die on me. Why did she have such a fierce reaction? Why did the very thought of getting an examination make her so scared?
I was shocked when she boldly escaped the hospital, treating it as if I was trying to keep her captive. I don't know how she did it, but one second she was there, and then poof, she was gone. Did she have some help? What was she trying to hide from me? Since then, she'd been mysteriously missing for several days. I searched every crack and crevice I could think of, but she was nowhere to be found. I even checked her hurricane- wrecked house, but all I found were empty shelves and drawers
I was utterly confused as to where she could have gone, but the missing items reassured me. At least I knew that she actually had somewhere to go instead of being in danger. Why do I care? I asked myself.
Was I really that scary to her? I really tried to be as cordial as I could be despite everything she and her father had done to me, but she was acting as though I were some sort of monster to
her.
I tried my damnedest to get Caroline out of my head. I endeavored to focus on my future wife and infant son now. However, I realized that no matter what, Caroline always invaded my thoughts.
When I was leisurely driving home one night after a successful business venture, I got a surprise call from my maid. I was struck with worry, since she was only ever supposed to call during emergencies. I answered quickly, wondering what all the trouble could be. "Maria," I greeted hurriedly. "Is everything alright? What's wrong?"
"Mr. Anderson, we have a problem," she replied, sounding anxious. "Caroline has shown up to your house."
I was so shocked I nearly lost control of my car. What was Caroline doing in my house? Had she come to talk to me, or was she trying to get to Sophia and George? "What is she there for?" I demanded, feeling on edge. "What is she doing?"
"I don't know," Maria replied honestly. In the background of the phone, I could hear vicious yelling between Sophia and Caroline. My heart started to race with concern. Were Sophia and George okay?
"What's going on? What happened?" I demanded, my voice worried.

"I'd just come back from the store with groceries" she explained. "She just came in and she and Miss Sophia started arguing, sounding angry Little
know what to do. I'm afraid that if they keep this up, sorge sounds frightened and I don't
is going to happen!"
Concern was thick in my veins as I slammed on the gas pedal. "Thank you for telling me. I'll be there in a second."
What had once been a ten minute drive had now become only three minutes long. I broke several speed limits and dodged a few cars, but I didn't care. I needed to get to my girlfriend and son before something awful happened to them. Upon arriving and dashing to the front door, I heard Sophia screaming from inside. George's crying rang loud and clear with terror. I fumbled with my keys frantically, bursting inside as soon as they were in.
On the floor was Sophia, fallen down and with a crying George still in her arms. Rage and worry overwhelmed me at that moment. I helped Sophia and George onto the couch, and as I was sure they were nice and safe, I turned my fury onto Caroline.
Yelling and arguing ensued, something that only caused George to cry harder. Looking past my rage, I noticed just how starkly Caroline's visage had deteriorated. Her body looked weaker and her face seemed more gaunt than before.
When her eyes suddenly widened and she shut her mouth, I thought she had finally realized what she'd done wrong and was going to give me my rightful apology. Instead, she frantically dashed out without a word, a hand clamped over her mouth. My thoughts were steeped in confusion and I had almost followed after her to demand answers, but then I looked down and saw two crimson droplets on the ground.
Curiously lowering myself to look down at them, I came to the startling realization that it was fresh blood. Was it Sophia's? It couldn't be, as she didn't seem to have a single scratch on her. So whose was it?
