Billionaire's Regret
Chapter 28:

The insistent ringing of the phone made the woman reach for the instrument. She briefly frowns when she realized it was an unknown caller.

"Hello,"

"Is this Annie Black?" questions the strange voice.

"Who am I talking too?" She was alert and suspicious as she no longer goes by Black but is forced to acknowledge the name Damian. "You don't know me but I accidently heard something that is important to your health." The stranger suddenly whispers.

"What are you talking about?" Annie feels goose bumps suddenly crawling over her skin.

"You ask too many questions. I don't have time." The voice said urgently.

"Who are you? Where did you get my number?" There are constantly people around her with the intent of hurting her to get to Gregor.

"I am a waitress. I heard them talking. Now stop with the fucking questions and listens."

"What are you trying to tell me?" Annie feels very uncomfortable. She starts to look around in the study where she has been working. Gregor has made her head of his household. She quickly learned this wasn't as simple as it sounds. She hates it here but she has to stay for the safety of her family. Once he had had forced her away from Aaron and her son, she daily wonders what had happened to them. It has been months but she never dares to reach out.

"They intend on disconnecting you're..."

Annie suddenly stood listening to the hollow sound of the disconnected call. Another shudder crawls over her body. She heard the very familiar sound of someone being attack. It didn't take her long to understand her compliance was forced by hurting who ever try to reach out to her.

"Leonardo, where are you?"

"In here daddy,"

Aaron follows the small strong voice of his son. He enters the playroom. He stopped in his track looking at the woman with the cold hard eyes.

"What are you doing here Grace?"

"I am visiting with your son," she answers shortly.

"You are in breach of our agreement." He said evenly looking at his son.

"A piece of paper isn't going to keep me away from you" She suddenly exploded. She stood right in front of the man she wants like a drug. His constant rejection always makes her blood boils.

Aaron watches his startled boy scrambling under the table. He controls his rising anger, reaching out as he firmly leads Grace from the playroom.

"Let go of me bastard."

"You better control your temper Grace."

"Don't tell me what to do bastard. I keep saving your life but you never want me."

"Enough, Grace, I told you to control your temper around my son. It's quite clear in your chosen vocabulary just how far down the rabbit hole of society you have fallen. You will not be calling me names in front of my son." "High and mighty Aaron Casey you are a failure as a man and father." She suddenly pushed past him.

"Where are you going?"

"You want to control my bodily functions in the bathroom too?" she asked nastily. The door slammed closed.

"Annie, where are you?" the voice enters as the door was opened without permission.

"Here..." she stood up from where she has been sitting.

"What are you doing in here?"

Annie looks at her housekeeper, her expression as usual soar. Ann Damian had married with the intent of escaping the rejected Damian clan. She thought she married for her own wealth but in the end she was forced back into the corrupted fold of the deceitful family.

"What can I do for you Ann?"

"As usual I am forced to stand in front of you and beg." Ann looked at the younger woman who was deemed trustworthy to control the Damian fortunes.

"What happened?"

"That fool of a husband of mine is in trouble." Her mouth twisted bitterly looking with hate at Annie

"What did he do?" Annie keeps her voice even toned.

"Gamble and lost. I have to pay before those ugly men comes knocking. I need ten million dollars. Will you give this to me?" "No,"

Annie watched the various emotions washing over her face. Shock at first, then hatred making her mouth twisted bitterly. "I have a right to that money, Annie,"

"I know but not to foolishly pay a debt that's not yours. Since you don't like my decision we should tell Gregor."

"We are married. What's mine is rightfully his. Release the money, Annie."

"I said no. You could always submit a written request to convinced Gregor But like I just said let's involve your brother."

"That bastard is just like you, hard and cold. I hate you." Ann snarl turning around. She grabbed the nearest vase and throws it towards Annie.

"I am aware of your feelings. You hate me that am fine with."

Annie watches the door slamming close just looking at the door as an odd feeling of ominous danger just lurking somewhere waiting for her. The earlier call still has her very unsettled.

"Grace, what are you doing in the bathroom?" Aaron just opened the door. He looked into the furious eyes that were shining very suspiciously.

"Bastard,"

"What did you take?"

"Nothing," Grace pushed past him.

"Don't lie to me," he tried to grab her arm but she pulled away.

"You can't tell me what to do Aaron."

"I don't want to tell you what to do Grace. I don't understand your behavior."

"You don't want me." She screamed.

Aaron just stood looking at her. He really doesn't know why he was acting this way towards her but he just instinctively knows he will regret getting involved with her. "Daddy..."

"Come here Leonardo," he holds his hand to him.

"No, come to me." Grace pushed past Aaron trying to reach for Leonardo but he slipped past her before hiding behind his father's leg.

"What did you tell him Aaron?" her voice rise again.

"Control your temper."

"I hate you."

Aaron reaches for his son pulling him into his arms holding him. He took purposeful strides going towards his office. His protectiveness towards his son is so strong but he can't recall his mother. He just knows he should watch him always.
