Billionaire's Regret -
Chapter 43:
Aaron drives towards the mansion in Cape Cove. He constantly looks over his shoulder always knowing he was never alone. Entering the grounds he parks in front of the door. As he was getting out Mathew quickly approached him.
"Welcome sir,"
"Is everything in place?" he quickly enters and shut the front door.
"Follow me sir,"
Aaron briefly looked at the small table close to the door. He noticed the cleaners still hasn't cleaned that spot. He was currently wearing the ring. He shook his head thinking about the romantic people in this small town. "Hello Aaron,"
Thom watched his son-in-law being startled for a moment.
"Whatever this meeting is about better be worth it as I have no time or patience for you sir."
Aaron grabs hold of a bottle of water sitting down beside the table.
"This is your moment to question and I will answer Aaron."
"Why, after all this years?"
"I want to disappear. It has finally become clear to me that I will never get my family back. I do wish to set the record straight about some things though. I had enough of being hunted for questions. Ask you first question and makes this count. I can't be here too long." Thom also grabs a bottle of water.
"Tell me about my mother?"
"What do you remember?"
"Not much as everything is fragmented pieces of information." Aaron rubs across his face.
"It doesn't surprise me."
"What do you mean Thom?"
"Before I answer you tell me the first real truth you remembered before the flashbacks start appearing."Thom looks intently at him.
"My mother dying of hunger." He said flatly.
"How old were you?"
"I was around twelve when she collapse and I had to take her to the local hospital. She died there."
"Aaron, your mother was born wealthy. She had fallen in love with the wrong man. Her family rejected her. She was forced to survive any way she could and keeping you alive." Thom said directly.
Aaron quickly stood and starts circling the kitchen. He always knew there was something his mother never told him. This truth he would never have realized.
"What else do you want to know?"
"I always made a point as a young boy never to be adopted. I remember there were people sometimes coming around insisting on wanting me. I always find a way to stay until I age out of the institution." "You were quiet resourceful without understanding the path you set yourself onto."
"Thom, who am I?"
"Only you can answer that question at the end of the day, son. Once you left the country what else was odd but never made sense to you. Yet you found yourself compel to do. It had a kind of driving force behind it."
The insistent ringing of the doorbell made Annie rushed forward. Since living alone but constantly under surveillance, this lifestyle has created anger within her. She pulled the door opened glaring at the man. "What do you want?"
"I have a package for Annie Casey."
Annie instantly frowned. It's very rarely that she was called by that name.
"I am Annie," she reached towards the table close to the door where her purse was laying. She removed her identification. Once the formality was complete she took hold of the envelope closing the door.
"What is this?" she voiced the question with no one to answer. She placed the envelope on the table while pouring a mug of coffee then once seated she reached for the envelope and opened it and carefully throws the content out on the table. Inside were a key and a couple of faded photos.
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
Aaron looked at Thom as something start to click in his mind. He quickly rubs across his face. He looks at the older man but wasn't really seeing him. He knows for a fact his mother died. That's his truth.
"Thom, why do I have fragmented memory pieces? What was the truth behind it all?"
"Everything odd that happened in your life can be traced back to your mother's family."
"What do you mean? They rejected her so why would they spy on her?"
"You,"
"What do you mean?"
"You said your mother died in that hospital."
"I know I was there." Aaron looked sharply at Thom.
"What do you remember about the Mansion?"
"I think I had a step-father but I don't recall him. I was thrown out of that place to be taken to a farm for discipline. That memory never made sense to me."
"It's all about mind games Aaron."
"What do you mean? What is the reason behind it all?"
"You,"
"I don't understand? How do you know these things?"
"I once was a lousy gambler but around such tables you sometimes learn things you think you can control. That situation cost me my wife and only daughter. Aaron, you are the only true heir to one hell of a massive fortune." "I don't want it. I already created my own wealth. You want coffee?"
Annie has been looking at the photos for the better part of a couple of hours. It had taken a long time before she finally understood she was looking at her very young version of her mother. It was the woman beside her that further puzzles her. The look in the eyes was such a familiar look that suddenly makes her heart break in needing to hold her boy.
"Leonardo, where on earth are you and my mother?" she achingly asked the empty kitchen.
"Aaron, where are you now?"
"Aaron, your family has created such a tangled mess of clues and it's your duty to figure it out."
"I don't want it Thom. I want my family back."
"Why did you divorce Annie the first time?"
"I don't know. That question is driving me crazy. I was already in my thirties when I married her. At first I thought it had something to do with the age gap but it wasn't that."
"Do you want Annie back?"
"I do Thom. I broke her heart and without realizing abandoned her and my unborn son. The day she rushed back into my life I tried to bind her to me with the wrong approached yet she comply. I didn't realize as usual she had her own truth for doing that."
"I have to go Aaron. I sincerely suggest you figure out who you are and whose keeps drugging you."
"No one is drugging me Thom?'
"That's what you think. People have been playing with your memory since you were a boy. You are a powerful man in your own right. If you truly want a future with my child know who you really are. Who is Aaron Casey?"
