Billionaire's Regret -
Chapter 44:
Annie climbed into the cab. It took a moment before she realized her mistake.
"Where do you want to go Miss Black?"
"Are you no longer working for Aaron?" Annie looks at the man who leered at her the first time in Switzerland. A feeling of unease starts to crawl over her skin, "I want to go into the city."
"As you wish as I am your driver for the day." Zac watched her in the mirror. He smiles when he realizes he was making her feel uncomfortable.
Annie said nothing just keeps looking out the window while her fingers are curled around the key in her hand.
"How are you doing?" Zac start making small conversation.
"I didn't realize I was supposed to make small talks with the help?" she said even-toned.
"No need to be a bitch,"
"Whatever,"
The moment the car stop at the busy robots, she suddenly opened the back door and jumped out of the car. She quickly removed her shoes and makes a bee-line for the buildings nearby. She rushes inside. The place she looked at suddenly made her smile. She quickly rushed inside closing the front door behind her.
Aaron knocks softly at the front door but received no answer. He reached into his pocket to call Annie when the guard suddenly steps around the house.
"What do you want?"
"I am looking for Annie."
"You have to clear that information with Gregor Damian."
"Like hell I will," Aaron turned and left. He felt his skin crawling from the guard watching him. Getting into his car he drives away. On impulse he suddenly decided to go to the hospital.
"Sir, I lost her." Zac forced himself to make the call. He listens and waits but receive no reply. The phone just suddenly dies. "I am screwed," he said to himself. He starts driving around in the hopes of finding her.
"Where are you?" Annie keeps looking out the sex-shops window. There appear to be no sigh of Zac but that doesn't mean anything. She slipped out the shop quickly walking to the coffee shop.
She instantly recognized the older woman. She quickly approached.
"Annie,"
"Missus Casey,"
The two women looked at each other before smiling briefly. They sit down across from each other. Annie quickly noticed the two discreet men hovering around.
"I learned a painful lesson years ago. I had to die to live in hiding."
"Aaron isn't aware that you are alive?" Annie said pointedly.
"I know. I tried reaching out to him for years but something always stopped me. The day he married you I was happy but then the family start lurking around." The old woman has a look of extreme regret. "I don't know how to undo the damage."
"Reach out to Aaron."
"How do I do that Annie?"
"Call him. I have his number. Arrange a meeting. I am going to be candid. It's clear you don't have much time left."
"Is it that obvious? I always take care to conceal my truth."
"Aaron told me," Annie reaches out to touch the old hands that carefully shake.
"Does he hates me?" the quiet tears slipped over the carefully age face.
"No,"
"How can you be so sure?"
"He makes a point of upholding the values you taught him. You really should reach out to him before it is too late. Why did you send me the key and photos?" "How is Hanna?"
"Taking care of her health," Annie looks at her. "I would never have guessed that my mother-in-law and own mother knew each other."
"It was a long time ago. I was older than Hanna but we become easy friends until my father decide to take me out of Cape Cove. I never saw her again."
"My mother never really talks about her past."
"Hanna is a good person."
"I know. Now tell me, what am I really doing here?"
Aaron stood in front of the private door of Grace Stevens. Just like before he hears the sexual sounds coming from behind the door. He knocks and opened the door. As he step inside he watch with a hard face how Grace and Jeff jumped away from each other.
"You should learn to knock bastard,"
"I did," Aaron glared at the other man. His look so pointed that Jeff slowly moved out of the office.
"What do you want Aaron?" Grace look at the man she still wants.
"I see you still haven't changed your behavior?"
"I will do what I want Aaron." Grace starts to adjust her clothes and once seated she sits behind her desk looking at him just glaring at him. "What do you want from me?"
"I have a medical question." Aaron sits across from her.
"Why don't you ask your doctor?" Grace looks curious.
"I need one without morals."
"Get out of my office Aaron." Grace grabs something and throws it at him.
"Did I touch a nerve? Good maybe this means you will answer me honestly. How do you drug someone over years without them being aware?"
"Annie I want to ask a personal question."
"Okay, what is it?"
"Do you really love my son?"
"I do." Annie said directly.
"I know who Gregor Damian is. I can help you get rid of him."
"I would appreciate that. He keeps circling my life because of a debt he had arranged with my father."
"Thom was a foolish man. He truly seems incapable of learning his lessons."
"What else will surprise me today?"
"Annie we all share a life's moment whether you realize it or not. Before I go the key I would appreciate it if you can give it to Aaron. It will unlock the closed door of my past. I had also hoped to meet my grandson but I don't think this was meant for me. Annie you are a good woman."
Aaron keeps looking at Grace waiting for an answer.
"What do you mean Aaron?" Grace looks a bit nervous.
"How do you drug someone over years to make him lose his memory? Looking at you now it seems like you might have an idea doctor Grace Stevens."
