~Chase-

Stepping out of the club, I skimmed my hand over my face, groaning as Sofia's sweet scent filled my senses.

F**k! She smelled so good. My hunger for her got the belt of me. I shouldn't have touched her, but goddammit! I want to feel her again. Her warmth, the way she grasped my fingers, and the kiss we shared... Everything is driving me mad. Sofia is driving me mad. "Chase..." she walked out of the backdoor, uncertainty laced her voice.

From the reaction I got from her, I knew she liked what happened between us, but she was drunk. I shouldn't have taken advantage of her. I shouldn't have f*****g touched her.

I kept my back on her, facing the narrow span of the empty alley where I parked my Harley. Her heels tapped. on the pavement, barely keeping herself upright.

"Chase... what happened back there..."

"Forget it," I cut her off.

She paused, glancing sideways with those big blue eyes. What?"

"Forget it ever happened. It shouldn't have happened." I hate the pain that struck her face.

"How do you propose I forget about what happened, Chase? You touched me-"

"Two," I said, cutting her rambling. I knew how her mind worked; honestly, I can't forget what happened either. But I have to pretend that it meant nothing to me. She doesn't need this confusion in her already troubled mind. This is all on me.

"What?" she asked, forehead creasing.

"We danced to two songs. You owe me two favors," I said, swallowing the bitterness of what I was about to say. "Forget what happened."

Stunned, she bit her trembling lip. "What about the kiss..."

"That too," I kept my voice steady.

She shook her head. "That's not our first kiss. We kissed in the penthouse. You were too drunk to remember."

I chuckled sarcastically, glancing down at her. Brunette waves framed her reddening cheeks. Fatigue, sadness, and confusion were evident in her eyes. "Is that what you thought? I was too drunk to remember?" How could she even think I could forget her soft lips, hands on me, and how she ground her hips over me? I hate that she thinks she's forgettable. She had taken permanent residency on my head since that night. I couldn't kiss another woman without comparing them to her. I tried and failed.

My molars ground, clenching my fist. "Forget that too. We can't be together, Sofia. You are my publicist, and I am your client."

'Fucking coward, Montiero."

I hid behind her job, which she valued the most. I will ruin her, so I better set things straight now before she gets confused more than she already is.

“|

I got carried away. You look fucking stunning in that dress, but this is wrong, Sofia. I don't want you to end up like all my flings. You are far better than that."

Her eyes glistened with tears. Pain is written all over her face. "And if I wasn't your publicist?" her voice trembled.

My jaw clenched. If she wasn't, we still can't be together. Everything between us is too complicated. "I'm a man, Sofia. Any man would be aroused by the sight of you. That's all, nothing more."

Her mouth hung open, her pain morphing into anger. She nodded, blinking back the mist in her eyes. "Can... Can you take me to the penthouse?"

I nodded. This is better than letting her believe there's a chance for us.

All week, I busied myself with the Fortaleza coffee plantation. Rigor Mendez, the previous owner, was kind. enough to teach me everything he knew about the plantation. It wasn't a walk in the park. Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on FindNovel.net. Visit FindNovel.net to read the complete chapters for free. A lot must be taken into consideration. Rigor gave me a little background on the history of this land, and he taught me the seed-to-cup steps for handling a coffee plantation. From picking a good seed, which would take years before it bears cherries, to harvesting, drying, and milling until its served in a cup.

It was a particular challenge, and I like to push my limits, In addition to that, it kept my mind working.

Even though my responsibility in the company and plantation occupied my head in the morning, my thoughts kept drifting towards a certain brunette at night.

Sofia Collins.

Since Nostalgia without fail-thoughts of her circulated in my mind before I went to sleep and as I woke. It didn't stop there. I had the need to deal with a hard-on every f*****g time. I never needed cold showers as much as I need them now.

Was I going crazy? That's a hard yes. I was the one who pushed her away and told her to forget everything. but I requested Michelle to update me on her every move

She finally moved out of the penthouse. Sofia sent me a message, and I replied with a short 'ok.' I don't like the idea. She would be on her own without twenty-four-seven security, but I had to remind myself it was the right thing to do. I had no right to tell her what to do..

I wasn't looking forward to returning to the city until the end of the month. Sofia scheduled an interview for a local business magazine. Through the years, I had been avoiding interviews since I hated the media, but she insisted it was necessary. I had another week before the interview. However, when Simeon, the security manager at Montiero Holdings, told me that Sofia got flowers from a certain Andre, I boarded the first flight to Rio.

"You're back early," Rafa said, leaning against Harley on the tarmac. He had a coat over his pajamas, matched with a crease on his forehead.

"I have urgent matters to attend to," I reasoned, ignoring the curse he murmured. It was two in the morning. He should be resting, and knowing Rafa, he would get back to me for disturbing his sleep.

"Urgent matter, meaning Sofia going on a date with Andre?" He said, his words dying out with his yawn.

And there goes his comeback.

I paused, gripping the keys I snatched from his hand. "Date?"

My blood ran cold. Understanding dawned on me. Andre must be the same guy from the night of our first kiss.

Rafa hummed, opening the door of the sedan. Tomás was behind the wheel. "She said it was a friendly date," he smirked, definitely enjoying the reaction he was getting from me. I couldn't hide my annoyance either way. "But that Andre guy..." he shook his head, "better do something before he snatches your Sunshine. He looked determined to lure her on their first date..." his smile widened, winking. "If you get what I mean."

Anger brewed within me. Rafa slid into the car, leaving me in a hazed state. F**k if I'd let her go with Andre, or any man, for that matter. I need to rectify this situation with Sofia.
