Butterscotch Souls – Chapter 35

Epperly and I stared at our son with our mouths hanging open. He just asked us about Adria. Kee told me that Skoll knew about her, but I just assumed that he hadn’t told Tate since he never asked before.

Why would he tell Tate now? Is it because Adria is getting stronger? Is she? Epperly and I did see her surface for a moment earlier.

“How did you hear that name Tate?” Epperly asked our son.

Tate looked at his mother.

“Skoll told me about her.” He said.

“What exactly did he tell you?” I asked him.

Tate looked between me and Epperly for a moment. Epperly looks like she could throw up at any minute. I just smiled at my son and patiently waited for him to respond.

“Skoll says that she is inside of Mommy and that he can hear her trying to get out.” Tate said.

I nodded. “Adria is your moms wolf Tate.”

Honestly, I thought it was best to be honest. It’s clear that Tate is a lot smarter than he seems for a five year old. Not only that but Skoll seems to have the mentality of a grown wolf and then some. If I wouldn’t have been honest, I have no doubt that Skoll would have been.

“Mommy has a wolf?” Tate asked with his face scrunched up. His eyes flickered to his mother, who is just staring at him still looking like she could be sick.

“She does. We just found out.” I told him.

My own eyes flickered to my mate. She’s acting weird. Nothing is coming through our bond from her but I don’t think she has me blocked. Epperly is just staring at Tate in shock. I already told her that Skoll could hear Adria, I don’t understand why she is so shocked.

“Babe are you alright?” I asked her softly.

Epperly didn’t react for a minute. My worry grew but thankfully she shook her head and turned to me. A beatuiful smile fell on her lips making her dimples pop out.

“Sorry.” She said and shook her head again. “I.. uhm, I don’t know what happened.” She told me.

I frowned at her. What the hell does she mean she doesn’t know what happened? Tate asked about her wolf.

“Epperly, did you listen to anything Tate and I said?” I asked her.

My mate looked up at me with a furrowed brow.

“Uhm, Tate asked about Adria and then he took a drink of his b***d.” She told me.

My frown grew. I mean, I guess that was true but there was a bit more that was said after that. She really didn’t pay any attention?

She was distracted. Kohen told me.

By what? Did Adria speak to her? I asked feeling hopeful.

Kohen whined.

I don’t know but I don’t think so. He told me.

“So Mommy has a wolf now? Does that mean we can all go for runs together like before but as wolves?” Tate asked excitedly.

“Well,” Epperly started. “I can’t shift yet. I had to connect with Adria first. Right now she is stuck somewhere deep in my mind.” She told our son.

Tate gave her a confused look. “How do we get her out?” He asked.

“Mommy and I will figure it out.” I told him as I stood up. “Right now we have to get you to school though.” I said.

I cleaned Tate up while Epperly put the cereal and milk away. Tate is tying his shoes while I slip my boots on. Epperly came up behind me and smacked my a*s as I tied my own shoes.

I stood up straight and turned around to face her. Epperly is biting her pillowy bottom l*p trying to hide her smile. I raised an eyebrow at her.

“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. You were practically begging me for it.” She said.

Both my eyebrows shot up.

“Was I now?” I asked lowly.

Something flashed across my mates eyes but it was too quick for me to read. A spark of l**t shot through the bond and a low growl escaped me.

She’s horny again? All from my voice? And it’s like she has me in a trance.

I want to go to her. To take her back to our room and never let her leave. I took a step towards her completely prepared to do so. Then the door bell rang and the trance was lifted.

I shook my head and turned around to answer the door.

What the f**k was that about? Epperly doesn’t have a power to control people like that, does she? Maybe she has that type of power over me because we’re mates?

No, it’s something else. Kohen said.

Something else? I asked.

Kohen only huffed at me.

I didn’t have time to question him right now so I decided to wait until later. When I reached the door I opened it to find Robby, Ziggy, and Daisy on the other side. Ziggy has his backpack on and smiled brightly once he saw Tate. Robby gave me a polite smile as Daisy, who is strapped to his chest, babbled about… well I am not sure, I can’t understand the kid.

“Morning guys.” Robby greeted.

“Good morning little Daisy girl.” Epperly cooed at the baby as she came around me.

“Ziggy I like your shirt. That’s my favorite color.” Tate told his friend.

The little boy thanked Tate and soon they were racing towards the school. Epperly convinced Robby to let her take Daisy. She bounced the baby and babbled back to her the whole way to the school. Robby seemed to enjoy the break from his daughter.

“Where’s Belle?” I asked him.

“The faculty had a meeting this morning about what was going on with Epperly and the Gods. So, I have both the kids.” He said tiredly.

I chuckled.

“I’m sure it wasn’t that bad Robby, it’s just two of them.” I said.

Robby turned wide eyes to me.

“Not when one of them refuses to be put down. I’m not sure what is going on with Daisy lately but she is more attached to me then usual. She even slept in bed with us last night. I barely slept at all.” He told me.

Tate stopped mid run in front of us. I didn’t even notice and bumped right into him, almost falling over. My son looked up at Robby and his eyes are glowing gold like Max’s do.

“Another boy.” He stated in a much too deep voice for a five year old.

Robby and I exchanged a confused look. When I looked back down at my son his eyes were back to normal. Tate shook his head and stared at the grass like he was trying to figure out what just happened.

“Tate… you okay?” I asked him.

My son’s eyes snapped up to me. “How did I know that?” He asked me.

“Know what buddy?” I asked softly.

Tate looked at Robby and then back to me. “That Belle is going to have another baby.” He stated.

I looked at Robby who gave my son a small laugh.

“Belle isn’t having another baby Tate. She isn’t preg-” He stopped mid sentence as his eyes flickered between his children.

“Oh my Gods..” Robby whispered. I looked down to see Ziggy and Tate share a look, then Ziggy shrugged.

“Ziggy was the same way when Belle got pregnant with Daisy.. We didn’t even know yet..” Robby whispered more to himself.

“Uh… You okay Robby?” I asked.

I wasn’t exactly sure what was happening… But it is clear that Tate just told him that he is about to have another son. Wood Nyphms pregnancies only last three months. For them to not know yet, means Belle is probably only a couple days along.

A wide smile spread across Robby’s face.

“I have to find her.” He said and then rushed off.

We all watched him disappear into the school that is only a few feet away now. Before we could start moving, Robby came right back out and marched up to us. He has a sheepish smile and he’s blushing.

“Uh, I should take my kids first.” He said.

Epperly giggled.

“Go. We can walk Ziggy to class and I can keep an eye on Daisy for a while.” She offered.

“Are you sure?” Robby asked her.

“Just go.” I said with a laugh.

“Thanks. I owe you guys.” Robby said and then rushed off.

A moment after we started walking Ziggy look at Tate.

“So, I’m gonna have a brother?” He asked.

Tate shrugged.

“Guess so.” He said and then put his little finger to his chin. “Ziggy do you know where babies come from? I tried to ask Dad before but he wouldn’t tell me.” My son said.

I froze mid step.

Epperly looked at me and raised a brow. She was trying to hide her smile. I shook my head and continued to walk into the school.

“He really asked you where babies come from?” Epperly asked me quietly and amused.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” I grumble.

Epperly and I dropped the boys off at their classroom. Robby is supposed to be staying here with him so Epperly offered to stay instead. We were supposed to get some training done today, so I texted Robby and asked him to please take over for Epperly soon. I feel a bit bad to ruin his and Belle’s happy moment but Epperly does need to learn control over my powers and fast. She also needs to try to connect with her wolf.

After leaving my little family I went out back to the training grounds. Everyone was there waiting for me and stretching. Karla and Axton were the first to notice me.

“Late again brother.” Axton teased me.

I stopped and glared at him.

“200 push ups. Now.” I ordered.

“Awh come on, I was only joking.” He said.

I raised a brow at my little brother.

“Do you want to make it 400?” I asked.

Axton grumbled but got down and started his push ups. Karla was desperately trying to hold in her laughter. She and Axton go way back. They used to hate each other but wound up being close friends.

“What kind of drills are we doing today boss?” Karla asked.

“Tracking.” I said.

I watched as the group all shared confused looks. I’ve never held a training session that had to do with tracking before. I thought that this would be a fun game to keep them on their toes.

“There will be several missions on which you need to track someone down. As all of you know, even I have had my own difficulties in the past.” I said and saw a few knowing smiles in the crowd.

“So, let’s test you all.”

I shifted and took off into the woods. They have to find me and I will not make it easy on them. Well, guess I really get to see what they are made of.

It has been several hours and anyone has yet to find me. I’m hiding out somewhere in the middle of the woods in a large bush with poisonous berries. I even left the mind link open so that any of them could reach out to me if they wanted. Not even Axton tried. I rolled my eyes.

That kid has a lot to learn.

I lay down on the forest floor and huffed. This is getting boring. I shut my eyes for a moment. Sleep was close to claiming me when I heard a twig snap a few feet away from me. I burrowed deeper into the bushes and peered out into the forest.

Whoever it was is getting closer to me. I can hear the leaves crunch under their feet. I wonder who it is, I bet it’s Karla. She is probably the smartest one out of the new recruits. I would have to berate her about being so loud though. If this were a real situation I would have booked it the moment I heard her coming.

Suddenly the steps stopped. I can’t see who it is yet, so I just waited to see what they would do next. Silence settled over the area. I was starting to wonder if whoever it was gave up. Then the bushes were parted next to me making me jump. I was met with my favorite scent of jasmine an my favorite pair of purple and gold eyes.

“There you are.” Epperly said. “I showed up at the training grounds and there was just a few people there.”

Wait, what? Who? They should be out here looking for me.

“They told me that they were supposed to be tracking you but that they got hungry.” My mate told me. I let out a low growl. Fuckers. I didn’t dismiss them for food. “Don’t be mad.” Epperly said. “They told me I might have a better chance of finding you since I’m your mate. Were you suprised?” She asked me as she wiggled her eyebrows.

I trotted out of the bush and shifted back to my human form.

“Those fuckers. I’m going to work them for the rest of the night.” I muttered.

“Hey, I told you not to be mad.” Epperly said behind me.

I turned to face her and her eyes raked across my body.

“They have orders. They can’t treat this like its just training. They need to be prepared for missions.” I said trying to ignore the look my mate is giving me.

“Okay fine. Be mad. But be mad later.” Epperly said as she closed the distance between us.

“I found you. All by myself.” She said proudly as she wrapped her arms around my neck.

I circled my arms around her waist and kissed her nose.

“You did great baby. How long have you been looking?” I asked her.

Epperly shrugged.

“Less than an hour.” She said.

My eyes went wide.

“What?” I asked her.

“Is that… bad?” She asked.

“No, just…” I trailed off as my eyes bore into hers.

I shifted back and fourth plenty of times to confuse the tracks. I walked the same paths and took several different directions. I rubbed up against trees and even teleported a few times. In all honesty, I didn’t expect any of them to find me until I had stayed in that bush for at least an hour. I was only there for ten minutes tops.

“What?” Epperly asked me.

I opened my mouth but no words came out. I just stared at my mate in awe. She f*****g found me.

“How?” I finally managed to ask.

Epperly giggled.

“I just followed your strongest scent. It was kind of exciting honestly. We should do this again.” She told me and her eyes began to glow yellow.

“Baby… What did it feel like when you were looking for me?” I asked her hoping that I could keep this connection open for her.

It seems that Adria reacts the most when Epperly and I are together. While I’m sure Adria feels protective of our son, being around her mate must be connecting them more.

“Excited, I just said that.” She said with a giggle. “Thrilling actually. Do you think that once I shift you can hunt me down?” She asked and Kohen growled in my head.

Epperly has no idea how hot that question was.

Epperly’s eyes are still glowing yellow. It was the hunt that evoked Adria and the fact that they were hunting their mate only connected them more. I bet being chased would strengthen that connection.

“Who said we have to wait?” I asked with a smirk.

Epperly’s eyes glowed even brighter.

“You want to hunt me down right now?” She asked.

I shook my head.

“No. I want to chase you.” I told her and then let out a low growl. “I’ll give you a ten minute head start. Better start running, mate.” I said dangerously low.

Epperly’s eyes remained the glowing yellow. She giggled and I could feel her excitement through our bond. I closed my eyes and started to count. Epperly’s giggles faded from my ears. By the time the ten minutes were up, my own excitement was buzzing through my body.

Kohen and I were ready to hunt our mate down. I shifted and took off in the direction that I knew she was in. Thirty minutes later and I came to a very small clearing. This is where her scent is strongest. She has to be here. I shifted back to my human form and looked around but didn’t see her.

Just when I was about to move on someone jumped onto my back with a loud battle cry. I was taken to the ground but managed to turn so that I landed on my back, with my mate landing right on top of me. Epperly sat up as she straddled me.

“Gotcha!” She shouted before falling into a fit of giggles.

Her eyes are glowing fiercely. They managed to stay connected this whole time. And she tricked me. Why does that turn me on?

My c**k grew and by the look on Epperly’s face I knew she could tell. My mate looked down at me, her glowing eyes bore into mine. Epperly let out a low growl shocking me. Before I could react to it she pressed her lips to mine harshly. My mate seemed to be in a frenzy for me but it seems that is the case always these days.

Epperly pulled away from me and threw her shirt off before coming back to my lips. I grabbed onto her h**s and rolled us over. Epperly wrapped her legs around me and I pulled back to hurriedly stripped her of her leggins. I brought my lips back to hers.

Everytime Epperly got like this it would leak through the bond and make me just as crazy. Just like earlier with the trance she had me under. I need her. Now.

I need to be inside of her. To plessure her. To fill her. To give her everything she needs. And she needs me.

My hands moved between the two of us and I ripped her thong from her body. I barley even got a chance to look at her in it. I don’t even have any idea what color it is, er, was. Epperly m****d into my mouth as I dipped my fingers between her folds.

My body slumped slightly.

f**k, she feels so f*****g amazing already. Is she just always wet? Her p***y is dripping down her thighs, to her a*s. My mate needs me to please her. She needs me to help her with this. Her greedy little p***y is practically begging me for it.

I was so lost in the feel of my mate that I didn’t notice that I gave her the upper hand. Epperly flipped us back over. My hands instinctively grabbed her h**s.

Epperly placed her palms on my chest. Her eyes glowing brightly. She lifted her h**s up and lined herself up on top of me. Then she slid completely on me, taking my entire shaft in one go. I g*****d at the same time that my mate m****d.

Epperly threw her head back as she started to roll her h**s. My hands gripped her h**s and I helped her bounce up and down on me. Epperly raked her nails down my chest harshly.

“f**k Epperly.” I m****d out. “You feel so f*****g good. That’s right baby bounce on me.” I said lowly.

Epperly m****d and brought her lips down to me. I rolled us back over so that I’m on top now. My mate met me thrust for thrust still. I rested my forehead to hers as I relished in the feeling of her.

All you can hear are my mates m***s echoing throughout the forest. Anyone within two miles would be able to hear us. That only made this all more exciting.

“Ambrose… I..” Epperly m****d out.

I pulled my head back to look in her eyes. Thankfully they are still glowing. I smiled down at her.

“Should I provoke your wolf the same way you did mine, love?” I teased.

Epperly let out another growl. I chuckled and thrust into her hard making her m**n.

“Come on Adria… I know you are in there.. I know you want to come out…” I whispered in my mates ear.

Epperly shuttered and I began to k**s along her neck.

“Kohen is excited to meet his other half Adria. You wouldn’t deny your mate would you?”

Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing trying to provoke Adria. If it were me I would lose all sense, I mean, I did lose all sense. I marked Epperly because of her little stunt.

Would that really work in this case?

“I love you both ya know.” I whispered as my thrusts slowed as I felt Kohen start to surface. “Ours.” Our voices mixed together.

My canines elongated and I bit into my mate giving her a temporary mark. Epperly screamed out a m**n and I could feel her p***y start to spasm. I released her with a smile. Just when I was getting close I felt a harsh pinch to my own neck. And then I felt it.

The connection. Pure ecstasy flowed through me causing me to come to my own climax. I grunted loudly as I spilled my seed into my mate.

I thrust into Epperly a couple more times before slumping against her. She released her hold on me and licked my wound. I pulled my head back to look in her eyes. The glow faded away and Epperly smiled up at me.

“I marked you. Again.” She said.

I nodded.

“Did you hear her? Can you hear her now?” I asked.

Epperly shook her head.

“No. I felt her push forward and it was like my body knew what to do but… I think it took too much out of her. I don’t feel her at all anymore.” She said sadly.

“I’m sorry baby. I thought that I could provoke her the way you did with Kohen.” I told her.

Epperly wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me down on top of her in a hug. I rolled us over and sat up with her in my lap. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her back. It’s only a little distracting that I’m still inside of her.

“What if I can never connect with her?” Epperly asked me. The sadness in her voice broke my heart.

I pulled away and cupped her face between my hands.

“You will. She is already getting stronger. Now that you are here with me, now that she has Skoll to protect. She will push through and break free. You just have to push with her.” I told her.

Epperly nodded.

“I’ve been able to feel her since you marked me. Do you think that made her stronger?” She asked me.

I nodded.

“Yeah baby, I am pretty sure that anything to do with me is making her stronger.” I said as I remember this morning too.

Epperly smirked at me.

“She reacts to you the same way Kohen reacts to me..” My mate is putting the pieces together now. “I felt her the most when the two of you spoke together.” She told me as she started to trailed her fingers across my chest.

“It was pretty hot actually.” She admitted.

I shook my head and gave her a small laugh.

“Are you seriously still horny?” I asked amused.

Epperly shrugged.

“You’re still inside of me.” She said and then rocked her h**s. “And still rock hard.” She rocked again. “And it feels so f*****g good.” Epperly lifted herself up until just my tip was inside of her, then she slammed herself back down on me.

“f**k baby..” I m****d out and she did it again. “I have a class to teach.” I told her as I grabbed her h**s and made her do it again.

Epperly giggled.

“They are still searching for you right now.” She told me.

I nodded.

“f**k, I hope they never find me.”
