Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1373
Joey raised his head in order to catch a glimpse of her eyes.
The little boy discovered that it was just a half-smile.
It seemed rather unnatural.
What that implied was that his mother wasn’t really happy.
“Mommy!” Joey called her.
Immediately Rachel heard his voice, she reached out her hand and pinched his face gently.
“Is anything the matter?”
“Not at all,” Joey replied.
He held her hand and paid rapt attention to the expression on her face.
She was able to conceal her displeasure now.
“Nothing.” Joey shook his head and held her hand more tightly.
Meanwhile, Roger was basking in the euphoria that Rachel had agreed to go visit his parents with him.
He didn’t even notice the interaction between mother and son.
“I’ve got to inform my parents,” he said impatiently.
“You know, at least that will give them some time to prepare for the dinner.”
“Indeed.” Rachel nodded her head.
“But it’s not today.
It’s a little too hasty if you ask me.
I don’t know what your parents like.
And it won’t be polite to go there empty handed.
Don’t you think so?”
“That doesn’t matter.
Neither of them cares about such things.”
It dawned on him that he had been a little too excited.
“If you think today isn’t the best of times, then we can fix another more convenient date.
Like you rightly mentioned, my parents also need to prepare.”
“Okay.
Let’s go out later to see what presents we can get for them.”
“That’s fine with me.” Roger nodded.
ALL of a sudden, his countenance became reassuring.
“Trust me.
My parents will like you very much when they see you.
So there’s no reason for you to be nervous, alright?”
A few seconds later, his phone began to ring.
It was a call from the company.
He had to deal with business.
So he went out of the study to take it.
This left Joey and Rachel just by themselves.
It took a little while for Rachel to calm herself down.
After that, she walked to her desk and sat on the chair.
By that time, the breakfast was a little cold.
She tore a piece of bread and put it into her mouth.
She noticed that Joey was standing in front of the desk, lost in thought.
“You seem to be troubled by something.
Do you mind telling me about it?” She raised her eyebrows slightly and handed a glass of milk to
Joey.
A frown appeared on his face at the sight of the milk.
Joey had poured his milk into the sink while he was downstairs earlier.
He didn’t like milk very much because he thought that it had a faint but unpleasant fishy smell.
