Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1374
Now, he had no choice but to drink it.
He was quite hesitant at first.
Instead of gulping it down, he looked up at Rachel and asked, “Mommy, are you happy?”
Rachel was confused.
She looked at him and asked, “I am.
Why the question?”
“There’s no particular reason for it.” Joey shook his head.
The most important thing to him was his mother’s well-being.
She just said she was happy.
So there was really no point disbelieving her.
He looked down at the glass of milk in his hand and drank half of its content.

He put down the glass on the table.
Before he could wipe the stains from the corner of his mouth, he said seriously, “Mommy, if you have to make a decision, only settle for whatever makes you happy.
No matter your choice, I will support you.
I will always be by your side.”
Rachel wasn’t obtuse.
She could tell what the little boy really meant.
She lowered her head and looked into his eyes.
“Oh, Joey… I am happy.” Rachel stroked Joey’s face gently.
After a long moment of silence, Joey said, “Mommy, what I said today should not slip your mind, okay?”
Rachel acknowledged by a nod.
At the Municipal Public Security Bureau
On the fourth floor, in the large office of the economic investigation department, all the uniformed police officers seemed to be hard at work.
The door of the office that was located at the very end of the hallway was suddenly knocked on.
“It’s open.” From inside, a deep voice was heard.
As soon as the individual finished speaking, the door was opened from the outside.
A young police officer entered, carrying two documents.
“Captain, the interrogation logs you requested are here.”
As he spoke, he caught sight of an elderly gentleman seated on the couch out of the corner of his eye.
This gentleman seemed to be well over seventy years of age.
The young cop was a bit taken aback.
The captain looked at the documents the young officer was holding and said, “Just drop them here and leave now.”
The young cop snapped out of his daze and nodded hastily.
He dropped the documents and walked out of the office.
As he was going, he cast a sidelong glance at the elderly guy sitting on the couch.
The man’s face seemed somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t place it.
As he locked the office door, he overheard the captain remark,
“Master, please review the interrogation logs.
It’s not that I don’t want to help.”
Master?
The office door locked securely behind him with a click.
Confused, the young policeman stopped at the door.
He was standing there in a stupor when a coworker walked by.
