“Okay.” Joey nodded.

He picked up the glass of milk and then sat on the sofa.

However, he couldn’t stop himself from looking at the door.

He kept thinking of

Hector, who had come this morning with two bags of soybean milk.

Shortly after, Lila came back with an envelope in her hand.

“What’s that?” Joey was confused and curious when he saw the envelope in Lila’s hand.

“Well, it looks like a letter to me.” Lila turned the envelope over, but when she didn’t see any name written on it, she gave Joey a puzzled look.

“It doesn’t tell who it’s from.”

“Didn’t you ask the courier?” Joey asked and then came over to her to look at the envelope too.

Lila shook her head and said, “There was no one at the door when I opened it.

The envelope was just lying on the floor.

Could it be some prank?”

Joey stared at the envelope for long seconds, lost in thought.

“Don’t worry about it.

I’ll give it to your mom.

She’ll know what to do with it,” Lila said and started going upstairs to look for Rachel.

Before Lila could go far, Joey snapped out of his daze and ran after her.

“It’s okay.

I can take it to Mommy myself.”

Lila stopped and looked up at him with a tilt of her head.

He smiled and held his glass of milk up.

“Besides, I’m going upstairs to sleep, so it won’t be a problem.”

Seeing nothing wrong with it, Lila nodded and gave him the envelope.

He took a big gulp of his milk and went upstairs with the envelope.

When he got to the second floor, he glanced at the study where

Rachel was working.

He pursed his lips and thought for a second before turning and dashing into his room.

He shut the door of this room and tore open the envelope eagerly when a card fell from it.

Puzzled, he picked it up and saw that it was a membership card for a shooting club.

Just as he had guessed, the letter was dropped for him, and not his mother.

And he knew who had sent it.

It could only be that old man.

Angry, Joey threw the card into the trash can and clenched his tiny fists.
