“Mommy, he bullied me.”

“When did I bully you?” Carson exclaimed while pointing at himself with a flabbergasted look.

“Wasn’t it you who bullied me?”

In response, Joey snorted.

Rachel observed the two as they argued.

She did not know what they were planning, but it was rare for the boy to bicker with someone these days, so she let them be.

“Mommy,” Joey called softly, blinking his eyes at her.

As Rachel placed a hand atop his head, Carson asked, “Rachel, do you really believe this little guy’s words?”

“Well, he’s my son,” Rachel pointed out.

Who else would she believe other than her son?

Carson went tight-lipped at that, unable to retort.

From the side, Lila smiled.

She could tell that Rachel and Joey did not really dislike Carson.

With that in mind, she stepped forward and suggested, “It’s almost noon.

How about asking Mr.

Scott to stay for lunch?”

“No!” Joey protested immediately, pouting.

Lila looked at Rachel expectantly.

Rachel looked down at Joey, then at Carson.

After a moment of silence, she said, “Okay.

Prepare more food for lunch.”

She did not hate Carson, but she could not say that she liked him either.

He was Victor’s best friend, after all.

If you liked someone, you would like everything associated with that person.

It was the same if you hated someone.

However, she had never seen Joey so lively after the kidnapping incident.

That was why she decided to ask Carson to stay with them for a while longer, even though she did not want to see him.

Lila nodded with a smile.

Carson turned to her with a grin.

“Lila, I don’t eat carrots.

Thank you.”

Joey gaped at him.

“We already asked you to stay for lunch.

Who gives you the right to be picky with food? Lila, I like carrots.

I want every dish with them.”

The outer corner of Carson’s eye twitched twice.

Joey snorted at him before making his way inside the house.

He went straight to his room.
