Lila stepped out of the house with a black coat for Rachel and called out to her.

“Miss Bennet, it’s time to go to the funeral home.”

Rachel turned and took the coat from Lila.

She noticed the concern on Lila’s face, so she smiled and comforted her.

“Lila, you don’t have to prepare lunch for me.

I’LL be back in the evening.”

After heeding Rachel’s instruction, Lila glanced at the car where the little boy was.

“Joey hasn’t had breakfast.

What if he wakes up and gets hungry? There’s still some time before the flight.

How about I prepare something that they can have on the way?”

“Lila.” Before Lila could go to the kitchen, Rachel grabbed her hand.

“Don’t worry.

There’s food on the plane.

Joey won’t be hungry.”

This statement stopped Lila, but her eyes slowly turned red.

“Why are you in such a hurry? Why do you want to send him away all of a sudden?”

Rachel averted her gaze and said nothing.

Rachel finally loosened her grip on Lila’s hand, then cast a glance at Quintin before getting into the passenger seat of the car beside her.
