Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1597
The recording was the conversation between Rachel and Alice in the apartment just a moment ago.
After following Rachel out of the alley and walking into the main road, Bryan noticed how gloomy and dark the sky was.
It looked like it was about to pour.
A moment later, Bryan heard the police siren in the distance and looked in the direction to see two police cars going in the same road that they just walked out of.
Bryan suddenly thought of the message that Rachel just sent.
Stunned, he looked back at her.
The police siren undulated.
Even after hearing the commotion, Rachel continued to walk toward her car, which was parked on the roadside.
Bryan immediately chased after her.
“Hey… The police are coming.”
“I know.
I was the one who called them, actually,” Rachel said
Lightly.
Bryan wanted to say something, but he was met by Rachel’s ice-cold eyes and had to shut up.
He couldn’t help recalling how Rachel walked out of the apartment after she talked to Alice.
“Are you all right?” Bryan asked after hesitating for a long time.
Rachel turned around, looked at him, and replied, “You don’t have to follow me.
I already told you that I wasn’t trying to save you, so you don’t need to repay me.”
“But…”
All of a sudden, a loud bang was heard as though something heavy just fell to the ground in the dark narrow alley behind them.
It was such a sharp sound that it almost shook them.
Bryan immediately turned to the direction the sound came from.
The people who were passing by also stopped to look at what was going on.
Someone in the crowd shouted, “Looks like someone just jumped off that building!”
ALL of a sudden, something struck Bryan, and he uttered, shivering,
“It seems Like that noise came from the apartment.”
Rachel was about to get in her car but she stopped when she heard those words.
However, she calmed down in a second and opened the door, ready to get in the car.
Realizing what had just happened, Bryan said, “Oh, no… My friend is still there!”
Though he had no clue of what could have happened at the apartment, he became flustered when he heard that someone had jumped off the building.
He turned around instantly and ran to the apartment building.
Rachel’s phone buzzed in her pocket.
She took it out and saw a text message from a strange number.
As soon as she clicked on the notification, a photo flashed on the screen.
Alice lay prone on the ground in a pool of blood.
Her broken finger was particularly gory and unsettling.
Glancing at the sender’s phone number, Rachel realized that it wasn’t a real phone number but an untraceable IP address.
Seeing that reminded her of the anonymous e-mail.
