Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1602
Alberto wasn’t just a cold man, he was also a man of few words.
However, Rachel couldn’t say no to him.
After all, if she refused, then it would be rude.
Taking the blanket from him, she covered her body.
The man in the passenger seat turned back and said in an apologetic tone, “I am so sorry, Miss Bennet.
I should have given you the blanket sooner.”
“Don’t worry about it.
In fact, I am grateful to you for offering me a ride.”
From the corner of her eye, Rachel saw Alberto holding his right wrist with his left hand, as though he was very uncomfortable.
And he was holding the scar on his wrist.
“Mr.
Gibson, are you okay?” Only then did Rachel realize how pale
Alberto looked.
He seemed a little sick earlier, but now, he looked morbid.
The man in front turned around again and asked, “Sir, does your wrist hurt again?”
..
Library
“Yes.”
Again?
“Is it too much to bear? If that’s the case, we can take you to a hospital first.”
“There’s no need for that,” Alberto replied coldly.
Rachel was perplexed.
Alberto seemed fine just a minute ago, but now his wrist was suddenly hurting.
Before she could think more, the man in the front clarified, “There is no point in going to a hospital, anyway.
It’s an old disease, and Mr.
Gibson just feels pain every time it rains.”
“Old wound?” Rachel subconsciously glanced at the scar on Alberto’s wrist.
She didn’t know why it felt fresh to her.
“Yes.
When he was still a child, Mr.
Gibson saved a girl.
Later, they got separated.
When he went to find her, he accidentally slid down a cliff.
He grabbed a vine and wrapped it around his wrist to prevent himself from falling.
By the time he was rescued, the sharp edge of the vine had cut into his skin and caused a deep wound,” the man explained.
“Because it wasn’t treated immediately, the injury caused a late effect.
Whenever it rains and the weather is cold, his wrist hurts.”
So the scar wasn’t a result of a suicide attempt like Rachel initially thought.
“I see.” Rachel regarded Alberto thoughtfully.
“I didn’t expect you to have gone through something like that.
If that little girl knew you suffered so much for her, she would surely feel indebted to you.”
Speaking of such an encounter, Rachel was suddenly reminded of the notebook she saw at Victor’s funeral that had inexplicably tugged at her heart.
After almost an hour, the Maybach finally arrived at the door of the
Bennet family’s house.
“Sir-” The man turned his head to tell the two in the back that they had arrived, but before he could finish his words, he saw Alberto gesturing him to keep quiet.
