Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1604
Rachel took the umbrella and climbed out of the car.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” As soon as the man finished his words, he and the driver got in the car and pulled away, leaving Rachel standing outside her house with an umbrella in her hand.
Rachel stared at the retreating car in a daze until she suddenly felt something bulging on the umbrella’s handle.
Lowering her head to check, she found Alberto’s name carved on it.
The Gibson family’s mansion was located in the northern part of the city, covering an area of over ten thousand square meters and containing almost a hundred rooms.
Driving from the gate to the main building took at least ten minutes.
Not many upstarts in Apliaria knew about the Gibson family.
But it was common knowledge for the old money how wealthy and powerful the family were thirty years ago.
Although the Gibson family had businesses worldwide, they had always been low-key in their activities and rarely had rivals.
Later, the whole family emigrated until the newer generations gradually forgot about them.
Despite that, the Gibson family’s reputation as one of the wealthiest in Apliaria for over three centuries remained irrefutable.
The combined influence of the Jimenez and Sullivan families couldn’t match even one-tenth of that of the Gibson family during its heyday.
Hence, even though the Gibsons emigrated, they still had presence in
Apliaria.
For instance, this huge mansion.
The Maybach slowly drove into the mansion and meandered along the marble-paved road to the main building.
The rain had let up.
The people standing by the mansion’s front door waited for the Maybach.
When the car stopped, the man in the passenger seat turned to Alberto and informed him respectfully,
“We’re here, sir.”
Alberto opened his eyes.
The old man with gray hair walked up to the car, opened the backseat door, and slightly bent down with an umbrella over his head.
“Welcome home, Mr.
Gibson.”
“Mm-hmm.” Taking the umbrella from the old man, Alberto got out of the car and walked toward the mansion with a straight face.
“Welcome, Mr.
Gibson!” The people lining up by the door bowed in unison and greeted Alberto as he walked in.
As if he hadn’t heard anything, Alberto continued to advance into the mansion without responding.
Outside the car, the old man looked at Alberto’s assistant.
The assistant immediately understood what the old man meant with his gaze and said calmly, “Don’t worry, Mason.
Mr.
Gibson didn’t get wet in the rain.
He was in the car the whole time, and the heating system in the cabin was on, so he didn’t feel cold.”
“Good.” The old man, Mason Davidson, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Then he remembered something.
“Did he see her?”
The assistant looked at Mason with parted lips, unsure whether to tell the truth.
Mason knew the assistant was conflicted, so he waved his hand dismissively.
“Forget it.
You don’t need to tell me.
But you know he hasn’t recovered yet.
Besides, it’s still the rainy season here.
Since you are always by his side, please persuade him to take it slow.”
