Katherine and Hector were dumbed to hear her words. The next moment, both Hector and Rosalie had their eyes fixed on Katherine's ringed finger.

Katherine smiled, "Oh, it's just a ring that I bought for myself."

Rosalie smiled either, and continued with a gentle and plain voice, "Oh, I see. I guess those paparazzi would never let go of such an opportunity if they saw a sparking ring on your finger."

With a pause, Katherine read out what Rosalie was really trying to say: she was reminding her that others might spread that the divorce between her and Marshall was not as amicable as it was reported, since the delicate ring on her finger was seemingly suggesting that she was reluctant to separate with Marshall.

Katherine offered an awkward laugh, "Thank you. It seems that I still need to learn how to be more sophisticated."

Saying so, she took off the ring and put it back into her pocket.

Fruits and snacks had already been served on the table, and there were still some while before dinner time.

So, they were going to kill time by chatting.

Rosalie, taking Katherine's hand, led Katherine to the sofa.

Mr. Haverford, with a benign look on his face, always seemed in a good mood.

Joanna looked at Katherine and said, "Is she Kyle's friend? If she is, she must be that kind of extremely tolerant person."

Both Katherine and Hector got in an embarrassing silence, thinking that Kyle was not seemingly getting along well with his family.

For Kyle, who was pulling a long face, it seemed that his previous excitement and rapture were all gone.

With a joyful laugh, Rosalie shifted the topic back to the things about Katherine, "I've read the news online, and there is no need for you to worry about that— trust me, I've even seen something worse happen to those celebrities in the entertainment circle. Just stay strong and leave those trivia behind."

Thinking that she was already mentally tough enough, Katherine answered, "Don't worry. I don't care about that, actually."

"You do seem to care nothing about that, Katherine, since I don't see any negative changes the affair has brought to your daily routine. You're not at the centre of this affair, anyway."

Rosalie glared at Kyle and said harshly, "I'm talking to her, not you!"

Her words stunned Kyle, who then remained silent with a sullen look on his face.

Joanna Haverford also expressed her opinion about the rumors spread online: she thought what Katherine had done did help Marshall a lot - at least, she had successfully shifted the direction of public opinion.

Joanna said, "Now, all you guys have to do is to keep silent and wait. There is an old saying that one is bound to have a slip of the tongue if he talks too much, which is exactly what you guys need to keep in mind at the moment."

Katherine nodded, "OK, I understand."

Then, Joanna turned to Hector who was sitting beside Katherine and asked, "I hear that you're now working in the company of your family. Is everything going fine?"

Hector offered an awkward smile and answered, "To be honest, I still need some time to get used to it."

As soon as Hector stopped, Kyle then excitedly came over to Rosalie and intervened, "Rosalie, I remember you once mentioned that you were going to sponsor a television singing show. How about you count Hector in as one of the contestants?"

Hearing that, Katherine turned to Rosalie in haste as well.

Rosalie was stunned for a while, and then looked at Hector, "Are you really going to participate in this kind of television talent show? What about your job?"

Kyle hurriedly grabbed the chance to answer before Hector could even say a word, "Come on, he doesn't need that job anymore, since it is a great opportunity to be a singing star! If he made it, he would then be able to earn much more money than he could ever have working in the company of Bennett Family. What's more, no matter how hard he works in the company, he will always be the subordinate of David, and there will be no hope for him to ever excel! Therefore, finding another career will by no doubt be the best option for him!"

Rosalie once listened to Hector's singing, which was as sweet-sounding and emotionally infectious as that of his mom.

If he was really going to join in, he would be likely to win himself a place in the show.

Hesitated for a while, Rosalie nodded and said, "Fine. If you're really going to do it, I can assure you of a relatively high place in the ranking."

It was easy for her to manipulate the ranking of the show, since she was among the list of its sponsors.

However, she dared not to assure Hector the first place of the show, since if, by any chance, he encounters any tough competitor with real talent, the whole show will definitely arouse audience's indignation if she still put Hector in the first place of the show.

Hector was stunned, and remained silent.

Katherine slightly nudged Hector and said, "I think it deserves to have a try."

Still in silence, Hector offered an awkward smile in response.

Rosalie laughed, "There's no need to be hurry. The television show is still under planning, and you still have time to think about it. Just call me when you're ready."

In haste, Katherine playfully answered loud before Hector could even speak, "Thank you! We'll contact you as soon as we make up our minds!"

Rosalie smiled joyfully and said, "It seems that you guys are really in good relationships."

'Indeed.' Katherine thought to herself.

As time went by, it was about time for dinner. Taking a glance at the dining table, Katherine could tell that Haverford Family had prepared meticulously for the dinner, since on the table, there were even some of the exquisite dishes that she could hardly tell their names.

In a trance, she once again lost herself in memory: she had once companied Marshall to attend a dinner party, which was quite an uneasy and dilemmatic experience for her — the feeling of being overwhelmed by those social etiquettes had deeply etched in her mind.

Seeing that, Kyle came around and sat beside her, "Take it easy, and just make yourself at home, Kathy."

Karina echoed in a sneering tone, "Exactly. By the way, I have always been longing for a little sister to take the place of my stupid little brother."

Kyle was not afraid of his fourth elder sister at all, and began to wrangle with her in a playful way.

For Katherine, she frowned at those dishes on the table, and was caught in melancholy: though there were many members within her family too, she failed to have a family which was as harmonious as that of Kyle.

Even though the husbands of the four young ladies were absent today, the atmosphere would still be as warm as such no matter they were here or not, which she had seldom seen in Grant Family for once - she remembered last time when she saw the relatively genuine smiling face of Grant Family's family, was on the birthday party of Carson.

Compared with the people of Grant Family, Mr. Haverford had always lived in harmony with his four beloved daughters, making Haverford Family a model of peaceful and loving families.

Giving that, it would be a paramount luck for a girl to marry Kyle and become one of the family.

After dinner, they all gathered in the yard, where there were several cane chairs set by the fishpond.

Supported with hands by Kyle, Mr. Haverford walked up and took his seat, and tea was served at the same time by the servant.

The sky was not completely dark yet. Sitting by the fishpond, one could really refresh himself by quietly appreciating the magnificent rockery, the beautiful fountain and the goldfish with bright colors swimming gracefully in the pond.

Rosalie leaned on the back of the cane chair and said, "In fact, Henderson Family's people had once called me before everything happened."

Rosalie smiled, "Nothing. They just called me and asked me to cooperate with my company. However, I could tell that my company was not their target of partnership — what they were actually trying to do was to get acquainted with Isabelle through my help."

Isabelle had long been doing business with foreign companies, and maybe Henderson Family was planning to expand its business abroad.

Kyle sneered, "At first they targeted Grant Family, and now their eyes are on us. Honestly, they really have a big appetite for power."
