Chapter 281 The Wedding Ring

Not much time had Marshall spent around this place until he left. Going over everything about the driving test, Katherine walked by the window, and found that Marshall's car was gone already. 'It seems that he has left.' Katherine thought to herself.

Standing by the window for a while, she then took out her smart phone, and again saw the friend request from Marshall.

It was too awkward and roundabout for him to do so, which made Katherine feel that he was no longer the one she once knew.

At last, Katherine rejected the request and left everything behind.

On the other side, Kyle was quite enjoying himself. With music playing loud, he was singing and dancing alone with amusement downstairs

Katherine was a little annoyed by that. Going out of the room, she then stood by the staircase on the second floor and shouted, "Could you just keep down the voice for a little, please?"

Swinging his shape, Kyle raised his head and said, "Come on! Come and join me, Katherine!"

Katherine just looked at him silently. He then continued with a smile, "My sister has just called me. She asked me to go back home for dinner tonight, and I said I was in your house. And then she told me to invite you to come along."

In silence, she was about to reject the invitation firmly and directly, but she knocked those words back since it was rude.

She curled up her lips and said, "Well, it's not the right time for me to go. Because, you know, there are some rumors against me out there, and I don't want to get you guys involved."

"Come on, I'll never care about those pieces of shit! It's not a big deal, since you're not the one to be criticized on this matter. Besides, just look at me — though I'm now by no doubt the target of a wide range of public criticism, but, still, I don't give a shit about that." Said Kyle triumphantly.

Hearing his words, Katherine was dumbfounded by his optimism, as well as the bright smile hanging on his face.

Kyle looked at Katherine and said, "I'm serious, Katherine. Just come, and I will call Hector to come along as well. You two are the closest friends of mine, and I sincerely want you guys to come and visit my house."

Staring at him in silence for a while, Katherine nodded and answered, "Fine."

In her head, she thought that she'd better go and express her gratitude towards Rosalie in person.

Hearing the affirmative answer from Katherine, Kyle stopped dancing instantly, vaulted over the sofa to pick up his phone and said, "I'm now calling Hector, and we shall set off together when he arrives. Damn! It's the first time that I take any friends to my home!"

Katherine laughed quietly, and thought that Kyle was acting like an unsophisticated primary student.

As Kyle called Hector, Hector was actually on his way to the place.

Previously, on his way back to the company for remaining businesses, he accidentally met David, and chatted with him about the affairs of Patrick and Alexis. Previously, these two were revealed that they had been secretly operating investment in the name of the company, which had extremely infuriated Kelvin.

Therefore, they were now demoted, and David asked Hector whether he could help him to take over some extra burdens or not.

Hector clearly knew what David was really trying to do — he needed someone to share with him the pressing focuses of Patrick and Alexis.

As everything once taken charged by the two was now to a large extent in the hands of David, Patrick and Alexis were possibly managing a way to take their power back from David.

If Hector accepted David's proposal, the two would possibly put David aside temporarily and regard Hector as their main target, giving that Hector had long been an eyesore for them. For David, he would then seize the chance, consolidate the power remained in his hand and leave Hector behind fighting against Patrick and Alexis alone.

If that really happened, the end of the story would be that he gained nothing, as the other three enjoyed the last laugh.

Hector was a smart enough man to reject David's proposal. In a smile, he told David that he still needed some time to adapt to his own work, and thus was not going to take on any extra burdens for the moment.

In fact, he was just telling him the truth: he did have no spare time to take care of other businesses except for those of himself.

David then had no other choice but to encourage Hector to take it easy out of politeness.

In the car, Hector put Kyle through, and was lost in hesitation as he heard the invitation.

Although he was getting along well with Kyle, he had never been to the house of Haverford Family before. What's more, he once met the four young daughters of Haverford Family, but he was not actually familiar with them, and thus worried whether those ladies would look down upon him for his status.

As Hector was still in hesitation, Kyle directly said, "Let's just stop dilly-dallying, bro. Both Katherine and I are waiting for you at home, and once you're back, we shall set off to my place together."

As his voice faded, Kyle put off the call, leaving Hector alone stroking his forehead with frustration on the other end of the phone.

As Kyle was still entertaining himself down the stairs, Katherine washed herself up and put on a light make-up.

Though it was necessary for her to visit others with gifts, there was not much time for her to go out and buy anything for the moment.

Katherine went downstairs, looked at Kyle and said, "Hey, I'm wondering whether I could go to your house with the things brought here by Marshall's mother last time, since there is no time for me to go out and buy something else."

Dumbfounded for a second, Kyle waved his hand and said, "There is no need for any gifts, Katherine! We are just like a family, you know?"

Still, Katherine went into one of the rooms on the first floor and brought what she had mentioned out, "I don't need them anyway. Come and help me check if they are presentable." Though these luxuries were by no doubt more than presentable as gifts, they were still less appealing to Kyle's family since their house had already been filled with stuff like these.

Regardless of whether Kyle's family needed them or not, Katherine said, "OK, that's the deal. We're taking these things to your house."

The two went downstairs, waited for Hector and put everything into the trunk of Kyle's car.

Then, Kyle drove them to Haverford Family's house.

On their way to Haverford Family, they passed by the dessert store of Katherine. Taking a glance at her store, Katherine found that the decorations of the front gate were already completed, and the decorating workers were now busy working on the rest of the decoration work inside of the store, which was seemingly near to completion as well.

Exhaling, she was a little excited and couldn't wait to start the business.

As they arrived the destination and got out of the car, Katherine was stunned by what came into her eyes: decorated with a beautiful arrangement of artificial hills and man-made fountain, the whole yard was so magnificent and extravagant that one could hardly imagine how rich the family exactly was from the decoration of the yard.

There was also a delicate fishpond with several kinds of goldfish swimming leisurely inside. Though Katherine knew nothing about the actual type of these fish, she was still attracted by their graceful movements and adorable figures.

As they walked into the yard, Haverford Family's servants then quickly came up and told them that the four young ladies of Haverford Family had been waiting for them inside of the house.

With anxiety, Katherine somehow reminded herself of the moment when she first went to the house of Grant Family - it was quite an unforgettable experience, since at that time, she was still not as sophisticated and experienced as she did today.

Kyle looked back at Hector and Katherine and comforted, "Hey, there is no need to be serious! My family are all quite easygoing and hospitable."

Katherine had once met Mr. Haverford and Rosalie before, and knew that they were all fairly genial people.

Kyle led the two into the house, and the first thing that came into their sight was a commodious living room.

Mr. Haverford was sitting on the sofa, as his four daughters were sitting opposite and grumbling that Kyle's recreation club was once again reported by someone.

Hearing that, Kyle then came up with annoyance and said, "That's totally bullshit! I've done nothing wrong with my business, and the one who has reported my club must be a drunken stupid ass!" Rosalie glanced at Kyle out of the corner of her eyes and sneered, "You're telling me that you're a sound businessman, aren't you?"

Standing still, Katherine and Hector were hesitant to go over to the group.

Rosalie turned to the two standing by the doorway, stood up and greeted, "Oh, here you are, Hector and Kathy! We've been waiting for you guys. Come and join us!"

Coming up in front of Katherine, Rosalie reached out and genially took Katherine's hand. At that moment, she soon caught sight of a ring on Katherine's finger. Rosalie then smiled, "Well, it seems that you're still keeping the ring."☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
