CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1569
While Charlie was riding the carousel, Jamie found a place to sit and rest.
Ben approached her with a cup of hot milk tea and handed it over. "Here, it's cold. This will warm you up."
Jamie looked at him, puzzled. "Where did you get this?"
Ben gestured toward a diligent staff member working at a nearby stall.
The staff member, spotting them from afar, waved enthusiastically.
Despite the fact that the park was rented out with only three visitors, the worker remained earnestly on duty, a level of dedication that would inspire many employers.
Jamie's lips twitched in amusement as she took the cup. "Thanks."
Ben glanced at her seat, then, surprisingly, sat down right next to her.
Jamie shifted slightly to the side, her face filled with astonishment.
For someone like Ben, with his composed and dignified demeanor, casually sitting down on a random bench seemed completely out of character. It was almost eye-opening to see. "You could've asked one of the staff for a chair, you know."
"This works just fine."
Ben's tone was light but firm, his short hair casting a shadow over his deep-set eyes. In his relaxed, casual attire, the usual aloofness that kept others at bay was nowhere to be seen. Jamie found herself staring without realizing it.
When his gaze met hers, she quickly turned away, pretending she hadn't been looking.
A soft chuckle broke the silence, low and teasing, and it sent an unexpected shiver through her.
Jamie's ears flushed red.
Charlie played for a long time, but his stamina was still limited. By midday, he was visibly tired.
Ben, who had just put his phone away, said, "Time for lunch. I've already booked a restaurant. Charlie's asleep. Let me carry him."
Without waiting for her response, he reached out.
Jamie hesitated for a moment before carefully passing the sleeping Charlie into his arms.
Ben held Charlie delicately, draping his jacket over him to shield him from the cool autumn breeze.
The crisp wind swirled around them, and Jamie felt a small, unexpected warmth rise in her chest.
As Ben stepped aside to call the driver, Jamie stood by the park's entrance, waiting. Her gaze wandered across the sparse crowd, and suddenly, she froze. ""Winnie?"
Ben had just finished his call and was walking back when she grabbed his arm, her eyes dazed and frantic. "I just saw my sister. She was right there, but now she's gone. Did you see her?" en FindNovel
Ben followed the direction of her trembling hand but saw nothing.
His brows furrowed slightly. He couldn't help but think this might be another episode of her instability resurfacing.
"Jamie," he said, his tone cautious, "are you sure you're okay? Did you forget to take your medication? I have some with me in the car."
"I'm not sick!" Jamie's voice rose, frustration and desperation bleeding into it. "I really saw her, Ben. Why don't you believe me?"
Seeing the disbelief in his eyes,
Jamie felt a sharp pain in her chest. She shook off his hand. "If you don't trust me, I'll go find her myself.
know it was Winnie. I couldn't have
been mistaken!"
Ben struggled to keep her from running off, holding Charlie securely in one arm while reaching out to stop her with the other.
"Jamie, calm down! It couldn't have been Winnie. Think about it. Where are you even going to look? And what about Charlie? Are you just going to leave him here?" Hearing Charlie's name snapped Jamie out of her panic. She froze in place, her steps faltering.
But her eyes remained fixed on the crowd, scanning desperately. "Ben, I know what I saw. I'm not imagining things. That was Winnie. She's not dead. She can't be."
Ben stared at her unwavering determination, his own mind wavering. Could she be right?
But how could Winnie still be alive?
