CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1596
He must have been utterly heartbroken.
"Alright, I'll stay with you," Jamie relented, her heart softening.
It was just staying with a sick person for one night. If Ben didn't get better, he probably wouldn't be able to make it to the office the next day anyway. Hearing her agreement, Ben's grip on her hand loosened slightly.
Jamie kept her word, settling on the sofa beside him and draping a blanket over herself. Through the quiet night, Ben's hand never let go of hers.
By the time dawn broke, they were still holding on to each other, as if that touch alone could ward off the pain and keep the world at bay.

The next morning, Jamie was woken by the sound of movement.
She opened her eyes to find herself still lying on the sofa. Instinctively, she glanced to her side, but the spot was already empty.
The helper entered with breakfast.
"Do you know where the man who was here went?" Jamie asked.
The helper, who had likely arrived early, looked slightly startled. "He left early this morning. He asked me not to wake you. He also took Charlie to school and said you could skip going to the office today." Jamie frowned and checked her phone.
The moment she saw the time, she almost fell off the sofa. It was already 10 a.m., two hours past the start of her workday.
So Ben, after being sick all night, had not only gotten up to take Charlie to school but had also gone straight to the office?
A wave of guilt washed over her.
She quickly finished breakfast and hurried to the company.
The assistant looked surprised when he saw her. "Miss Lewis, why are you here? Mr. Lucas said you were taking the day off. I thought you wouldn't be coming in."
Now officially employed, everyone at the company had begun addressing her as "Miss Lewis."
Not wanting to explain, Jamie diverted the topic by noticing how rushed the assistant looked. "Are you heading out?"
The assistant hesitated for a
moment before replying. "I'm on my
way to the hospital to visit the elderly heart patient. You know, the
one being used as an excuseby the protestors in the old district.
"Mr. Lucas has ordered us to speed up the project. We're all under pressure to get things done as quickly as possible," he added with a helpless shake of his head. Jamie said nothing, but her mind wandered back to the confrontation with Ben's father the day before.
It seemed that, with the mounting public pressure, Ben was determined to push forward decisively. "Can I come with you?" Jamie asked.
The assistant hesitated, but Jamie persisted, giving enough reasons to eventually convince him.
At the city hospital, the assistant went to speak with the nurses while Jamie decided to visit the patient first.
On the way, she bumped into Wilfred.
Seeing his familiar white coat and the people following behind him, Jamie paused in surprise. "Are you heading into surgery?"
Wilfred stopped, said a few words to the group with him, and then turned back to her.
"No, I'm not performing surgery. I'm heading to give a lecture. Why are you at the hospital? Is something wrong with Charlie's condition?" Wilfred immediately thought of Charlie's heart transplant.
"Charlie's doing great. I'm here for work-related reasons," Jamie reassured him with a shake of her head.
Hearing this, Wilfred didn't press further.
Knowing he was in a hurry, Jamie didn't want to delay him, but just as he was about to leave, a thought struck her.
"Wait, could you tell me some tips for improving stomach health? I have a friend who's always working, skips meals, and has had chronic stomach problems for years
BUMS
She hesitated before continuing, "Could you prescribe some medicine or recommend any remedies?"
