CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1733
Karina might appear frail, with slim arms and legs that seemed as if a single push could knock her over, but Wilfred knew better. He understood just how resilient she truly was.
Others might work hard, but Karina always pushed herself several times beyond that. He often worked late into the night, performing back-to-back surgeries, and every time he left his office, she would still be there, pouring over medical journals long after everyone else had gone home. It was that dedication that had sparked Wilfred's decision to give her a chance.
Thinking back, he realized he had never seen Karina cry before. Not when the Stone family kept demanding money, not even when Kieran threatened her.
Yet here she was, her eyes rimmed with red, struggling to hold back tears in front of him-a man who had once gone out of his way to help her.
"I know I've disappointed you, Dr. Wilfred," Karina said, her voice trembling. "Don't worry, I'll resign tomorrow. I'll come up with an excuse, and if you don't want to involve the police, I'll still turn myself in."
Wilfred frowned, the lines on his face deepening with irritation. "Who said anything about you leaving?"
Both of them froze at his words.
Karina was stunned. She hadn't expected him to say that. Wilfred himself seemed surprised, as if the words had slipped out before he could process them.
No, he reasoned, Karina wasn't really an accomplice. Based on her explanation, she was just a pawn-misled and used by someone else.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Wilfred let out a rare sigh, his tone softer yet firm. "I'm not asking you to leave. Whatever else happened, your medical skills are solid. I need someone I can train as a deputy, and there's no one else in this hospital better suited for the role than you."
Karina blinked rapidly, utterly dumbfounded. Her wide eyes, filled with confusion, made her look almost childlike.
Wilfred continued, his gaze steady. "Stop beating yourself up over this. It's not your fault. But right now, our priority is finding that intern."
Karina immediately tried to get up,
only to wince in pain as she moved her arm. The injuries from her earlier fall weren't severe but enough to cause discomfort. Her head still throbbed slightly, and bruises marked her elbows and knees.
Wilfred quickly pressed her back down into her seat, his tone suddenly sharp. "What are you doing? You're a doctor. You should know better than to ignore medical advice."

Karina froze under his stern gaze, her lips pressed together as she avoided meeting his eyes.
"I'll handle this," Wilfred said, his voice softening slightly. "For now, you need to focus on recovering."
"But what about the family from earlier?" Karina asked, her voice tinged with worry.
Wilfred raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed by her concern. "Do you think something like that is too much for me to handle?"
Karina immediately fell silent, unwilling to question him further.
The next two days, she was granted
leave to recover. Despite her injuries, she worked quietly from home, organizing case files to lighten Wilfred's workload. It was a gesture that didn't go unnoticed by her colleagues. Many started referring to her as Wilfred's unofficial assistant.
However, the search for the intern proved more challenging than expected. The intern had already left the hospital. When Karina found out, she could hardly believe it. "She was just here two days ago. How could she suddenly leave?" The nurse shook her head, glancing at Wilfred standing beside Karina, suppressing her curiosity to avoid prying further.
