At that moment, Karina shouted, her voice trembling, "I'll tell you everything!"

Her hands twisted together anxiously, her fingers fidgeting, and her rapid blinking betrayed her extreme hesitation and nerves.

Wilfred didn't rush her, standing silently as he waited for her to continue.

Karina took a deep breath, her words spilling out as she recounted everything that had happened over the past few days. She left nothing out, from the stolen photos to the motivations behind her actions. When she finished, it felt as though a massive weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

But Wilfred's brows remained furrowed the entire time.

Noticing his reaction, Karina's initial relief was quickly replaced by regret. She had relaxed too soon. "I'm sorry. If you want to press charges, I'll accept whatever consequences come my way."

Her confession was partly motivated by her desire to salvage her career, but even more so, she couldn't bear to keep Wilfred in the dark any longer. She had already squandered his trust once.

For her conscience's sake, she felt he deserved the truth. Whether he chose to forgive or punish her, that decision should be his.

Wilfred was furious at first. Who wouldn't be? The thought of someone secretly taking photos of him without his knowledge, even if they were just casual ones, was infuriating. In any other situation, this would be a serious issue, no small matter at all.

But as he looked at Karina's guilt-ridden expression, his anger faltered. He found himself unable to voice the sharp reprimands that had been swirling in his mind.

In the end, after a long pause and a storm of thoughts, the words that finally left his lips were calm but direct. "What about the intern?"

Karina blinked, startled. "What?"

Wilfred patiently repeated, "The intern who instigated all of this-where is she? Since you weren't the mastermind, we need to track down who was and get some answers."

After all, someone had plotted to take those photos, and Wilfred had no idea what they planned to do with them.

Realizing what he meant, Karina hurriedly provided the details of the intern, including the messaging app account she had given him. "I think her last name is Quinn. She joined the hospital recently. You might not remember her, Dr. Wilfred

But Wilfred's response was resolute. "No, I remember. I remember everyone in this hospital."

Karina's jaw dropped. With the constant flow of people in and out of the hospital, how could he possibly remember them all?

Wilfred, unaware of her silent astonishment, didn't bother explaining. Instead, he opened the messaging app and searched for the intern's profile. His frown deepened as he reviewed her account.

When he had added her initially, he

hadn't paid much attention. At the time, it seemed

inconsequential-just another connection. Their conversations had been brief, with her trying to initiate topics, but he hadn't been interested. The chats eventually fizzled out.

Now, however, as he looked closer, he noticed her profile was nearly blank. No posts, no details-nothing.

It was clearly a dummy account.

This had been a calculated move from the start.

Wilfred's expression grew darker, his usual composed demeanor giving way to a cold, distant aura that made him seem utterly unapproachable.

Karina, seeing his somber mood, felt

a fresh wave of guilt. She assumed

bet

his anger was entirely directed at her. "I'm so sorry, Dr. Wilfred. I was desperate for money and didn't think things through. You can call the potice and have me arrested."

Wilfred snapped out of his thoughts and turned to see Karina on the verge of tears. He froze for a moment, caught off guard.

No one knew Karina better than he did.
