CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 626
"This kind of news still exists? It's like we've gone back decades. It's terrifying!"
"We should avoid isolated places. Even if it's not this case, there are still rapes and murders. It's always right to cherish your life and protect yourself!"
Nina overheard their conversation and felt uneasy. With everything happening to her, it seemed like trouble was brewing.
Organ harvesting... it sounded like organ trafficking. Had things gotten that out of control?
She clenched her fists, pushing aside her fear and feeling a surge of defiance. She could not help but think about that organization.
After the night shoot, Nina prepared to go home. Penelope reminded her to be careful and avoid deserted places.
Nina left with Angel, but they parted ways at a certain point. Even though it was night, the streets were still crowded.
However, she felt like someone was following her. They said these crimes happened in isolated places, but would someone dare to act in such a public area with so many surveillance cameras? Seeing the shadow under the streetlight, Nina's heart raced. She quickened her pace, turning a corner quickly.
The mysterious person following her lost sight of her and started looking around. Suddenly, a stick came down towards her head.
"It's you!" Nina exclaimed, seeing who it was before the stick landed.
She had expected a man, but it was a woman with her hair tied up under a baseball cap. Scarlett removed her cap. "You've become more cautious."
Nina, recognizing Scarlett's identity, tightened her grip on the stick and asked, "Is that woman's corpse case related to you? Are you following me with ill intentions?"
"If I had any, you'd already be dead." Scarlett's tone was cold as she lit a cigarette in front of Nina. Seeing Nina's pregnant belly, she quickly extinguished it. "Sorry, I didn't know you were pregnant." "What do you want from me?" Nina asked, her face tense. "Are those organ-harvesting cases related to you or your people?"
"I didn't do it," Scarlett replied. "As for the others, I can't say.
"I followed you to tell you not to take your anger out on Wilfred. He doesn't deserve that." Scarlett's eyes showed a deep sadness.
Wilfred had suffered so much in his life. No matter how hard-hearted she tried to be, she could not watch his good intentions go to waste.
"You came all this way just to tell me that?"
"Who else would I care about besides him?"
"Do you love him?" Nina asked again.
Scarlett laughed. "Love? It's not like that. He's like family to me. If he's gone, I'm all alone in this world."
"What do you mean by that? Why would he be gone?"
"Didn't you say we were both locked in the dark room? Why do you remember nothing now?" Scarlett asked.
Nina was puzzled. "I don't remember. I only dream about it, about you and Wilfred. It feels familiar."
"You're lucky. You weren't turned into a puppet like Wilfred and me," Scarlett said with a sad smile.
Seeing that Scarlett had more to say, Nina decided to put aside her resentment, at least for now, to understand things she did not yet know. "Let's go back and talk," Nina said calmly.
