Chained To The Alpha King -
Chapter 53
I was filled with trepidation and fear at the visible chaos below the palace. I can see how Damon's men transform into wolves while the rogues attack fiercely.
I turned to Damon as I saw him quickly take his cape off his back and approach Delta Robin. I followed him.
"Stay here, Robin. Watch over Athena," Damon said in a cold voice. I shook my head and dread broke through me.
"Where are you going, Damon?" I asked worriedly. He didn't turn to me, so I grabbed his arm. I could feel his arm shaking, a sign that he was holding back his anger. I know he can't stomach watching Jules' group destroy the kingdom their family founded. But...what if something bad happens to him?
I can't handle it if something bad happens to him.
"You have to stay here, Athena-"
"Please...I want you to stay with me..." my voice trembled. I know it's wrong. I'm being selfish. Damon must fight to protect the kingdom. He has to face the enemy. But can I let him fight there knowing that everything is uncertain?
"I'll be back, Athena..." Damon's expression suddenly softened before facing me. He held my shoulders and stared right through my eyes. I can see the softness in his eyes. It's as if he's showing me that in the middle of his anger, I'm the reason why he doesn't explode.
"What if...something uncontrollable happened to you? What if...Jules might come and...k-kill you?" I asked weakly. I am so scared right now. I don't want him to leave now but I know it's impossible for what I want to happen. Because I know how important Damon is to the kingdom and the wolves that belong to him.
I felt his grip on my shoulders tighten.
"I won't let that happen, Athena, okay? Just trust me," he said determinedly. We stared at each other for a long time. How? How can I let him get away from me? I can't lose Damon, not right now.
"Damon...I wanna be selfish with you..." I confessed to him. My tears rolled down my cheeks. I saw how he watched my tears fall. His expression became blank. My heart started beating faster. It felt like a dagger stabbed my heart when he lowered his hand to my shoulder. He let go of me and turned his back on me. My knees weakened as my tears are continuously falling. Damn it!
"It's because you don't trust me, aren't you?" his voice was cold. I saw Delta Robin nod at him. Delta Robin opened the door wide, waiting for Damon to leave. I bit my lower lip because I know from this moment Damon will never choose me. Damon will never stay. Damon will never look back and say...I'll be back.
"Damon-"
"Stay here, Athena." An order that made me even weaker. Watching him walk away makes my heart in pain. I feel so hurt. I feel like there's a stabbing wound in my heart. I can't help but cry hard enough.
I saw the pity in Delta Robin's eyes as he watched me cry.
"Damon...will surely be back, Luna." Delta Robin assured me. But I know I can't rest in this room waiting for Damon. I can't bear to wait and wait for news about Damon. I can't wait for Damon's return without being extremely worried about his condition. I cannot do it.
I approached the small opening of the window and watched the mob below the palace. Everyone is in trouble. The beautiful statues standing in front of the palace have been destroyed due to the deluge brought by the rogues. "Did you see Jules, Delta Robin?" I asked as I turned my gaze at him. I couldn't bear to watch the chaos below.
"I didn't but the rogues were shouting his name as they attacked the palace," Delta Robin said. I nodded. I need to see Jules or Stone. I need to talk to them. I might be able to please both of them. Maybe all of this will not go through violence. Maybe Damon won't get hurt anymore.
"Delta Robin, I know Damon might not like this, but I want to do this. I want to do something for Damon, for the people, and for the kingdom. I can't just hide here while Damon was out there fighting for his life," I said as I looked at Delta Robin pleadingly. I approached him. I know I can trust Delta Robin. He's one of Damon's long-serving employees and I know he values the Scots family as much as anyone else.
"What are you trying to say, Luna?" he asked with confusion. I took a deep breath.
"I want to see Jules. I need to talk to him. If he's not here then...I'll see Stone," I seriously said. His eyebrows met at what I said.
"Stone? Stone is with Alpha Damon fighting the-"
"Stone...might be there beside Damon but I know he's planning something!" I cut him off. He didn't seem to believe what I said so he took a deep breath. I don't know if Delta Robin will believe what I say but for him to allow me to leave this is the only way I can see for him to let me go out and find Jules or Stone.
"Stone...is the traitor, Delta Robin..." I saw the shock on his face at what I said. He was stunned and could not speak. He stared at me for a long time, looking for a sign that maybe I was just joking, so when he saw that I was serious, I saw even more confusion on his face.
"What...are you..." he shook his head and couldn't believe it. I bit my lower lip and lowered my eyes because like him I was also shocked and almost couldn't believe it. We know how Stone served Damon. Of all Damon's staff, Stone is the only one Damon can talk to about his serious problems so I know Damon will be very hurt when he learns this truth.
"Yes...Delta Robin...he is the traitor so could you please...let me leave and find the two?" I pleaded. He looked at me. He swallowed hard.
"What are you going to tell them, Luna?" Delta Robin asked. I took a deep breath and looked at him seriously.
"I will tell them to...to stop all this..."
"You know they won't just agree!" he said worriedly. I was determined by his look.
"I will make them say yes..." I said while slowly forming a plan in my mind.
