Chapter 76
Third Person’s POV
“I will never plan to watch a movie with you again…ever!”, Grace said while glaring at him. They were driving back home after watching the movie, and he was undeniably slowly a the roads were wet due to the heavy rain that just followed.
“Come on, sweetheart! I apologized to you already! I didn’t know you are so…sensitive!”, He defended himself.
“Don’t lie to me! You knew everything about me. So, you knew that I don’t watch such movies, but you still made me sit there for god knows how many hours!”, She whined as if her statement was the ultimate one.
“But, it was just a….”
“It wasn’t just, Zayden! It was a horror movie. Did you know I almost had a heart attack there!”, She complained.
“But you didn’t. You didn’t even watch the movie properly. Your head was here all the time!” He explained, pointing towards his chest. That made her shut her mouth. He was right, though. She was either hiding her face on his chest or screaming like a child in the theatre. And with every scream, he had to apologize to the other audience for her behavior.
Silence engulfed between them, again. She was furious for what he did, while he was finding ways to calm her down. She was furious for what he did, while he was finding ways to calm her down.
“Okay…forgive me and I will do anything you want.”, He placed a condition, after he could no longer bear the silence.
She didn’t say anything.
“Sweetheart?”, He called for her attention, as he drove.
Still silence from her silence.
“Please, don’t act like a child now! I told you, I am sorry.”
Silence.
“What can I do to make you forgive me? Huh?”, he asked, desperate now.
Her heart melted as she felt the desperation in his voice. She was about to say, that it was fine and not to repeat that kind of stunt again when her eyes fell on the nearby food corner. And looking at that one particular shop that had always been her favorite, made her mouth water.
“Let’s eat Cotton candy!”, She said excitedly.
“What?”, He asked. There he was asking for forgiveness, and she wanted to eat cotton candy.
“Please, Zayden! I haven’t had one since…eternity!”, She boasted.
“No, sweetheart. It’s street food and not good for your health.”
“Stop the care.”, She stressed, as she saw the shop leaving behind. Zayden hesitantly stopped the car and looked at her. “Please…”, She asked again.
“We can order it at home. It’s thundering out and can rain anytime. You might catch a cold, sweetheart.”
“Zayden! I love rain. And I don’t catch colds so easily. Come on! Please. As soon as it rains, we will get in the car, okay?”
“No.”, he said firmly, not liking the idea of her getting sick due to rain.
“Zayden!!!”
“No, sweetheart.”, He repeated, as he put the car into gear and brought the engine back to life.
“I will forgive you for today, if you will come with me.”, She placed her side of the condition.
“You are not serious!”, He looked at her, almost glaring, while she gave him a victory smile. “Fine”, he said as he pulled out the keys from the car and opened the car to get out. Grace quickly got out and waited for him to reach her side so that they could walk together.
Just as he was about to get out, his phone went off. He sat back again and pulled the phone from the dashboard and received the call. He talked for a few minutes with Eric, before disconnecting the call. He saw his mate already walking toward the small food shops, which were at the corner, and in the haste of following her, he quickly placed his phone back on the dashboard and went out.
But in haste, he, unfortunately, threw the keys on the dashboard and took the phone with him, as he thought it was the key.
He slammed the door and almost ran toward her.
“At least you could have waited for me!”, He complained.
“You were taking so long.”, She defended her option.

After ten minutes, they walked toward the car as another thunder roared in the sky.
“Thank you, Zayden.”, Grace said truthfully and gave him a big smile.
“I have already told you before that you don’t need to thank me, sweetheart.”, he said and almost dragged her toward the car.
“Slow down! It’s not like it will rain now!!”, She complained
“We need to get home quickly, sweetheart. You humans get sick easily and this cold air leads to cold, fever and what not! Don’t forget that your wolf has not appeared after the last incident.”
“Okay, mom!”, She joked and received a glare from Zayden. “But seriously, you will make a good mother.”, She added while laughing at his concerning behavior.
“I just want to be a father.”, he winked, making her hit his arm.
Zayden searched his pocket for keys as they approached the car. He narrowed his eyes when his fingers didn’t feel the keys, instead, his phone came out. He frantically searched his other pocket in the hope of finding it there. But, no such luck!
“What happened?”, Grace asked, as she noticed him searching his pocket.
“Did I give you the car keys?”, he asked, already knowing that he didn’t.
“No.”
He quickly ducked and looked inside the car towards the dashboard. He rolled his eyes as he realized his mistake.
“Great!”, He sighed.
“What happened?”
“I left the keys inside.”
“Really?”, Grace said while chuckling.
“We’re stuck outside and you are laughing?”, He looked at her amused.
“No. I am just surprised. How can you, a perfectionist, make such a silly mistake!”, She said, still controlling herself from laughing out loud.
Ignoring her comment, Zayden tried to contact Dominic, who was in no mood to hear him. Sighing in defeat, he dialed his driver’s number asking him to bring another car. It was a relief that their house was quite near now and it wouldn’t take much time for the driver to come here.
“Your cotton candy did this.”, he said after disconnecting the call.
“Oh please! This all happened because of your phone.”, She defended herself. She was about to say more when a bolt of lightning struck followed by a heart-wrenching thunder.
“Whoa!!”, Grace gasped in surprise and came closer to his side. “It’s beautiful.”
“We need to run back to that shop for a cover. It;s going to rain really hard now.”, Zayden said and those tiny food shops started getting close. No doubt, no vendor would keep the shop open at night even after knowing that it was going to rain hard. After all, it was good to reach home before the rain starts.
“Now what?”, Grace asked, more like a whisper.
Zayden looked here and there but didn’t find anything worth shelter except trees. Soon, raindrops started blessing down and they both looked at each other.
“Come.”, Zayden said as he grasped her hands again and pulled her toward the only promising shelter. They both got partly wet as the rain started becoming heavy. He pushed her toward the biggest tree which he could find and stood in front of her, facing her.
“Zayden, you will get wet!”, She said, getting worried, as the current place could accommodate only one person. “You can stand under another tree.”
“It’s fine. I am not going to leave you alone even for a while at this hour. And the driver is about to come.”
“Still!”, She whispered as she searched for ways in which she could save him from getting wet. It started raining really hard.
Grace grabbed both her sleeves and pulled him near to her, in order to save him from the rain that was hitting him from the back.
“Come closer. You are getting wet.”, She explained her action.
He looked at her amused as she didn’t realize that he had come so close to her that if he would bend even an inch, he could literally k**s her.
And he did exactly that as he couldn’t control himself anymore.
Grace immediately closed her eyes as his lips crashed with hers. It was sudden and uninvited but, she didn’t push him. Instead, she placed her hands around his neck and pulled him impossibly closer to her.
She must be out of her mind right now! But then, how can she avoid the urge in such romantic weather.
It was a very cold wind that made them apart from each other, but they still remained in each other’s embrace.
She looked at him briefly to see his expression. Suddenly, she felt very conscious of what he would think of her. She was giving way too easily on him now! What if he thinks of her as that type of girl! She thought.
“Don’t think low of yourself, sweetheart! You have got no idea about how much I feel relieved when you k**s me back. I feel like the luckiest man in the world.”
“How do you know what I feel? Even without Dominic’s help?”
“You will understand it when you will fall in love.”
She looked at him straight in his eyes and she could feel the love he had for her. And the emotion made her heart melt. Her heartbeat accelerated and she couldn’t control herself from tiptoeing and placing her lips on his. He immediately responded to what she wanted.
The ringing of something made them part this time. Well she did, while he still tried to capture her lips, again.
“Your phone.”, She reminded him.
Zayden g*****d in irritation, but still took his phone out of the pocket and received the call.
“Okay! We are coming.”
“Who was that?”
“Driver’s here. Come.”, he said and pulled her fast so that they got wet the least. They both saw the driver rushing toward their direction with an umbrella in his hand.
Zayden took the umbrella quickly and directed it over her body so as to protect her. And it didn’t go unnoticed by her. She was surprised and honored by his act, and it made her feel closer, more secure with him.
When he pushed her inside the car safely, not bothering about himself getting terribly wet, she realized something.
He was everything that she wanted her husband to be….someone who would love her more than himself.
