AMERY

.

"Amery, it's time for breakfast!" Mom yelled from across the hallway leading downstairs to the living room. I had been in my bedroom getting ready for the greater part of the morning and to make matters worse, I haven't been able to find something suitable to

wear.

I wasn't the one to care about my looks and all but today was different. I wanted to look different, I wanted to be different. What prompted this sudden urge? I have no idea but it isn't going away anytime soon. Was it because I had spent some time with Levi yesterday? Was that the reason why I was suddenly doing this?

No. It can't be. I'm doing this because I want to and not because I was trying to impress anyone. I don't care what anyone has to say about this but the fact remains that I wanted to look good for myself and that's it.

I rummaged through my closet and settled for a skirt, a strapless top and jacket. I finished the look with a pumps and styled my hair. I stared at my reflection in the mirror, satisfied with how I looked, I grabbed my bag and made my way downstairs for breakfast. "Whoa.." Mom gasped softly when she spotted me walking down the stairs. She stopped whatever she was doing and placed both hands on her hips as she focused her attention at me.

"Who are you and what have you done to my daughter?" She teased and took her seat on the table next to dad.

"Don't make it weird."

"How can I not when you look like someone who's about to walk the runway." She retorted and dished out some pancakes for me. She went further to add some cream too.

"These are just my regular clothes." I answered through gritted teeth. "I wear them all the time and you know that too so stop."

"You've never worn these type of clothes to school before." She argued still. I mean why couldn't she just drop the issue and leave it the way it is. If she keeps talking about it like this then I wonder what other people at school might say. "Honey, I'm not saying that It looks bad. I'm just saying that I'm surprised to see that you decided to dress up like this for school and that's all so stop being defensive unless maybe, you have something to hide." She eyed me curiously.

I looked away and focused on the meal in front of me. "I have nothing to hide."

"Is there a boy that I should know about?" She asked and I choked on my pancake. For goodness sake woman, let it go. I thought to myself but I wouldn't dare say it out loud.

"These things are normal." She went further to say. "I also did most of them back in the day when I was still a high scholar so it's completely normal."

"You're going out of context mom." I faked a smile. "There's no boy so please, let it go."

She winked at me and I sighed deeply. I'm not going to hear the end of this. I should have just went along with my regular choice of clothes. What have I gotten myself into now? "You see-"

I pushed my chair backwards and stood up my feet when she started that sentence. "Thanks for breakfast, have a nice day at work and good bye. I'm off to school now." I discarded my plates, picked up my bag and quickly ran out of the house. I took the path that led towards the bus station and luckily for me I was in time for the bus to arrive. I got in with the rest of the passengers and the bus started for school.

I arrived in less than thirty minutes and made my way inside but I was surprised to see everyone staring at me. I immediately became alarmed. I thought that the issue about the drug had dispersed from the minds of everyone so how come I was getting the same vibe as I did before when the video about the drug incident was released?

Did someone release another gossip on the school's website? And if they did why was everyone staring at me? Or was it because of my outfit? I knew that I shouldn't have worn this choice of clothes to school. Was that the reason why I was getting all the attention? I wasn't used to the spotlight being on me and so it freaked me out in a kind of way. This was Natasha's thing and not mine.

Trying my utmost best to block out the gossip and ignore the stares being thrown at me, I made my way towards my locker to pick out my books for the first class.

"Asher and Quincy wasn't enough for you and now you've gone after Levi too?" Someone's voice boomed from behind me and I recognized it to be Natasha's. She was the only one who took it upon herself as a life mission to always ruin my mornings and the rest of the day afterwards. In fact, I was slowly getting used to the fact that my mornings would not always be colorful as I had envisioned it to be.

"Aren't you tired of whoring around?" She accused angrily but I could hear the hurt in her voice. She had been trying so hard to get their attention but didn't succeed in winning anyone over. Instead, they avoided her company like a plague. I wanted to say that she had it coming and that she deserved it but then I had the slightest idea about what she was talking about.

"Whoring?" I repeated with furrowed brows. I turned around to face her and I am surprised to see here standing here alone. I am tempted to ask her about her little minions but I refrained from doing so. It's not like it's my business anyways. "What is it that you want this time around Natasha? If I didn't know any better then I would have said that you were my fan and that was the reason why you always followed me around but we both know that it's not the case."

She scoffed obviously feeling insulted. "Fan? I'd rather drop dead."

"Then drop dead or stay away from me!" I exclaimed. "Seriously, all these things are getting old. Haven't you done enough? You've tried all your little tricks and gimmicks to get me out of your way or expelled but it clearly isn't working out for you so Isn't it about time you gave up?"

"Give up? So that you can have all three of them to yourselves?" She asked but I decided to play dumb. I would forever be the enemy and there's nothing more I could do about it.

"Isn't that why you changed your looks and choice of clothes?" She scoffed. "You're trying everything you can to seduce them aren't you. As if hanging with them after school still isn't enough for you."

I looked at her confused. "Hanging with them after school? You're delusional Natasha and for the record, I don't know what you're talking about." I made to leave but she held up her phone for me to see and there it was, in plain sight. It was a picture on Levi's social media feed. The one he had taken of me yesterday where my eyes were closed during the countdown of the fireworks display.

I couldn't believe this. How and when did he... And why was it on his feed. I mentally slapped myself. Of course it was on his feed because he had posted it himself but why? Why would he post me? Was this the reason why everyone was looking at me earlier when I had arrived at school? And here I was thinking that it had something to do with my clothes.

'Damn it Levi' I cussed inwardly but I wish that I could say it to his face right now.

"Are you still going to deny it?" She asked, flashing her phone on my face. "Because from the look of things, it's obvious that you both are in a relationship with each other and everyone in school is quite aware of it. And to think that you always talk about how much you love Sean. You're a disgusting person Amery."

I chuckled. "Me, disgusting? Or is it the girl whom I considered my best friend who went out of her way to make out with my supposed ex-boyfriend? You're no saint so stop acting like one." I made to leave but she grabbed me by my hair and pushed me back. I slammed my head on one of the lockers and groaned deeply. Damn it hurts. Everyone stopped and slowly started to gather around.

"Stop trying to act as if you're someone important. Levi hasn't even said anything about the two of you being exclusive so if there's anyone being delusional, thinking that she'll find love again, it's none other than you." She poked at my chest.

"And who said I haven't?" I heard Levi's voice as he majestically walked towards me. He held Natasha's hand and twisted it a little causing her to cry out in pain.

"I told you before didn't I?" He started while I tried to regain composure. "I told you that if anyone tries to get close to her then they'll answer to me or are you deaf."

"Let go!" She struggled pointlessly.

He released her hands and she took a step back. "This is my last warning to you because the next time..." He tilted his head to the side. "You might end up without hands or legs or maybe both because you really have no idea about who you're messing with." She eyed him angrily but he ignored and walked up to me. "Come with me Amery. Let's go make out in an empty classroom. Apparently, that's what couples do these days." He winked at me and dragged me away while everyone gasped in shock. I willingly followed him and the crowd slowly dispersed. Okay, what exactly is going on right now?
