Chapter 105

Amery struggled to get away from Levi but it felt as if the more she tried to, the more difficult it became. She couldn't help but hide her face away from the side glances she got from the other students as they walked past them. She could practically hear their tiny whispers and in as much as they tried to act as though they weren't concerned about anything going on at the moment, she could tell that underneath that farcade, that they were all deeply invested and wanted to know more. Levi dragged her to a Janitor's closet and locked the door behind them. He released her hands when they were finally secured and away from the prying eyes of other students.

"This is madness Levi." She snapped at him but he remained unmoved and acted as though he wasn't bothered at all. "Let me go, right now!" She stomped her feet on the ground to create more effect but he still didn't budge. Frustrated, she tried to reach out to the door knob but he blocked her path so that she wouldn't be able to.

"Are you mad? Huh?" She queried, her anger spiking fast. "Why would you post those pictures on your social media? And why did you admit to the entire school that we are in a relationship?"

"This isn't the type of reaction I expected from you." He stated. "I just saved your life and the least you could do right now is say thank you."

"Thank you?"

"You're welcome." He replied sharply and she almost felt like strangling and choking the life out of him. If they hadn't been locked up here, she would've done so much more than kill him. "You just announced to the entire school that we're a couple." She repeated and waited for that piece of information to sink in. "This isn't your realm. This is mine and saying something like that would only bring more problems for me."

"And that's why you have me. If anyone tries to come for you then they'll have to answer to me." He said as a matter of factly.

"Don't you get it? I don't want you creating any more problems for me Levi so please try to stay away from me. I don't need your help." She shunned him in hopes that he gets the message. Levi was always known to doing things his own way and doesn't care about the consequences or aftermath. In fact, he damns them both.

"They'll keep coming for you anyways, you know they will and one day, they are going to hit you where it hurts. You need me and that's a fact that you can't deny so stop being such a baby and just go with it." He warned her. "Let me keep you away from harm."

"And why do you want to do that? You don't care about me that much Levi so why do you want to protect me? Why are you trying to do all of this and what are you trying to prove?" She threw her hands up in the air feeling exasperated.

"You're right. I don't care about you but I can't stand it when those people bullying you or try to hurt you and that's why I'm trying my best to do whatever I can to stop that. They already believe that we're a couple so let's just go and play along with it." He suggested and Amery arched a brow at him. "Let's call a truce and make everyone believe that we're a couple."

"You want us to fake date?" Her eyes widened in surprise. She had imagined Levi doing a lot of things but this was something that she had never thought that he would ever attempt to do. He was asking her to date him. Not like a real date or anything but does it matter? Why does everything about him feel so strange and different these past few days?

"Did I stutter the first time?" He questioned.

"And why do you want us to date? The last time I checked, we aren't even friends and you've never considered me as anything but a girl you're trying so hard to kill so what changed all of a sudden? Why do you want to do this?"

"If it'll keep those people from hurting you then why not? I'm your best shot at navigating this school in peace without having a single scratch."

She thought about it. "No. I'm not interested." She turned him down almost immediately. "I cannot bring myself to trust you Levi and besides, Asher had asked me for this and I had refused so agreeing to go out with you, whether fake or not is something that I don't want to do. It wouldn't be fair to him or anybody for that matter so no, I'm not interested."

"It's a fake relationship-"

"Which makes it all the more harder for me to accept it. It's easy for you to say it's just a relationship but it's harder for me." She explained. "This is my turf Levi and no matter what, I'll navigate it on my own, alone like it's supposed to be." She picked up her bag from the ground. "And please delete that picture of me on your story. I don't want it causing any more damage than it already has." She opened the door to leave and came face to face with Sean who looked like he had just been caught doing something suspicious. Before he could say anything, she walked away leaving him with Levi.

"What is it?" Levi asked the minute Amery was out of sight.

"Coach is asking for you. You're needed in the gym after first period is over." Sean relayed the message to him and Levi nodded with a straight face as he made his way to class.

"So what's your deal with Amery?" Sean asked out of the blue as his steps fell in sync with that of Levi. "Are you two a couple now?"

"Who's asking?" Levi retorted much to Sean's displeasure. "It's all over the school's website. Isn't that enough evidence for you to know what's true and what's not? I thought you all used to believe in whatever's posted there so why are you trying to get a validation from me?" "Amery is my girlfriend." Sean said and Levi chuckled.

"She was your girlfriend." He countered with emphasis on that particular word. "And right now, she chooses not to be because she's finally decided to go out with me. She picked me over you. The same boy who was stupid enough to make out with her best friend." He scoffed. "You think you have a shot with Amery? Last time I checked, she wasn't exactly girlfriend material."

"And when was the last time you checked? Twenty centuries ago? Just admit to the fact that you've lost and that I have gained what you've lost. You weren't man enough for her anyways and that's why she chose to leave you. I'll see coach later. You can go now." Levi left him standing there and made his way to his classroom for first lesson. The class ended in less than fifty minutes and he immediately made his way to the gym. He arrived to find the others training and he joined them as well.

Amery was done with her first class and just as she was about to leave, she was cornered by Sean in the hallway. She had never spoken to him one-on-one after that incident that happened between him and his teammates at the gym the other day. She had been avoiding them because she didn't want to get into any type of trouble because of them.

"Why are you here?" She questioned when he wouldn't move. "Do you need something from me?"

"You're going out with Levi now?" He asked and she folded both hands across her chest. "The school's website was right about you all along wasn't it? You little whore."

"Are you done? Can I go now?"

He sized her up from head to toe. "What's with the change of clothes? Are you trying to impress him now?"

"You sound like someone who's jealous." She beamed. "Why else would you be interested in who I go out with if you aren't jealous of Levi?"

"I'm not jealous and neither am I interested. I've known you all my life Amery." He started with a half baked smile. "You're a wimp and nobody else would ever want to date someone like you. You're the one who throws yourself on everybody because you're one lonely, pathetic and psychotic human being who's only looking for attention from other guys. I'm pretty sure that Levi never asked to go out with you. You're the one who might have convinced him and begged him to take you out because he had never liked you." "And what if he does now?" She countered.

"He doesn't. And do you want to know about how I know?" He asked but she didn't reply. "Because I had once dated you." He added before walking out of her presence as he took the path that led to the gym.
