Chapter 113

"Madeleine?" Levi called out shocked and utterly speechless. Judging from his reaction, Amery could tell that he wasn't expecting her. But if he wasn't then why was she here In the first place? Amery felt something building inside of her. She didn't know if it was jealousy, anger or pain but one thing was certain, she didn't like it and it left her unsettled. These past few weeks has been one of the best weeks of her entire life and now everything was suddenly going down the drain because he's supposed girlfriend had showed up on his doorstep. "You're here?" He tightened his grip on the door knob. "Why are you here and what do you want? I didn't send for you to come here?"

She chuckled. "Since when have you sent for me Levi? I have always been the hopeless romantic between the two of us haven't I? Not that I'm complaining or anything but I came because I missed you and I wanted to see you."

Her answer irked Amery and she felt her wolf getting triggered. She was perceiving Madeleine as a threat and if she doesn't try to curb her emotions from spiraling out of control, she might do worse to hurt her.

"I can't believe that I followed you all the way out here because we wanted to say hi to your girlfriend." Quincy rolled his eyes lackadaisically and disappeared into the kitchen.

"Nice to meet you too, Quincy." Madeleine called after him. "Are you going to let me in or are we going to stand out here all day in the sun?" She asked and Levi stepped aside allowing her to enter. Amery had always heard about Levi's girlfriend but this would probably be the first time that she was seeing her up close and judging from everything that she was seeing, she didn't like it. Not even a little bit.

"Hi." She called out Amery as she approached her. "You must be her. I've heard a lot of things about you."

"Good things I hope?"

"Oh of course." Madeleine smiled at Amery but somehow she wasn't convinced. Amery could feel it deep down in her guts that she doesn't like her. She wondered what Madeleine might have heard that would trigger such reaction from her about her. "You look different from the last time I saw you Levi. Are you eating well? You don't look nearly as good as you were when I had visited you the last time." She reminded him, her eyes pinned on him affectionately.

"I am eating well and I feel a lot better than I've ever felt in months." He led her towards the couch and they sat down beside each other.

Amery saw the look in Levi's eyes as he stared at Madeleine. She recognized it because that was the exact same look he had been giving to her for the past two weeks now. It made her question if those two weeks were indeed real as she had hoped or if he was faking it just to remain in character. She averted her gaze when he caught her staring. Everything must've been a lie then. The love notes, the kiss, the affection, it was all a lie and she had been so dumb enough to believe them. She wasn't supposed to be too invested in them but she couldn't help it. With every emotion they portrayed in front of her, she felt it sting a thousand times.

"Who's ready to eat?" Quincy hollered from the kitchen and she immediately walked out of their presence but her little victory barely lasted because they showed up a minute later.

"Help me set up the table Amery." Quincy instructed and she set to work. She set up the table for the three of them, Intentionally leaving out Madeleine.

"All done." She announced when she was finished setting up the plates just like Quincy had requested.

"You set up for only three people?" Madeleine asked and everyone casted their eyes on the table. "What happens to me?"

Amery flushed feeling embarrassed. "I thought that you weren't going to join us." She told her calmly even though deep down she was boiling in nothing but unfiltered rage. Her jealousy and anger were slowly starting to get to her. She wasn't supposed to be so angry though. Levi had already told her from the very beginning that he won't date her, neither would he fall for her so why was she feeling a possessive claim over him?

"Of course I'd like to join you. I haven't had a meal with Levi for months now. I miss eating with him." She stared at him with dazed eyes that lit up like a Christmas tree.

"Of course you m-miss eating with him. He's your boyfriend after all." She stated the obvious, as she tried to curb her animal. "I'll grab you a plate." She gave a fake smile and proceeded to grab a plate for Madeleine. Quincy who noticed how uneasy she was and how weird she was acting pulled her quietly to a corner.

"Hey, are you okay?" He inquired, his face etched with worry. "You seem a little out of it. Is something going on?" No, she wasn't okay. She was far from okay. Levi's girlfriend was in town and she was being all lovey dovey and clinging to him like glue but she couldn't say that can she? Because it was meant to be a secret.

"I'm fine." She said at last. "I'm just so surprised to see Levi's girlfriend here. I had no idea that she was visiting." Or even coming at all. She said the last part to herself.

"You don't have to worry. That's Madeleine and that's how she has always been. She drops in from time to time to see him and we are all used to it. I mean they've been together since the twentieth moon."

"Twentieth moon?" Amery's brows knitted together in ardent confusion.

"It's just an expression. What I'm basically trying to say is that they've been together for as long as I can remember. I don't like her that much but she's Levi's choice so who am I to object. He's my brother after all isn't he." He patted her shoulders in comfort. "Just forget about that and let's eat okay?"

Quincy finished serving up dishes while she approached the empty seat next to Levi but before she could sit down, Madeleine beat her to it.

"Oh, do you want to sit here?" Madeline questioned, her face devoid of every emotions whatsoever.

"No." She replied sharply. "You can sit down wherever you want. I'll just sit down next to Quincy. I mean, it's only proper that you sat down next to your boyfriend right?" She chuckled nervously and pulled out a chair next to Quincy before lowering herself on it. Amery watched the exchange between the two of them. Madeleine dished out for Levi and also spoon fed him at some point during the meal. If she wasn't kissing him at intervals or teasing him, she was holding onto his hands or intertwining their fingers together. Just the sight of it made her want to puke but she endured it.

"So Madeleine?" Quincy beckoned, breaking the silence. "What brings you here?"

"Do I need a reason to visit my boyfriend?" She tilted her head to the side. "I'm here because I want to be with him. What's so wrong about that?"

"Your visit to this place is becoming more frequent and it's only a matter of time before they figure out where we live. It's not about you but I'm a bit worried so don't take it personal." Quincy stated and took a bite out of his food.

"I can assure you that I'm careful." Her voice had gone from soft to hard in a matter of seconds. "I won't do anything to jeopardize Levi's safety and he knows that too."

"After lunch, can we spend some time with each other...Alone?" She stressed the last part and Levi nodded at her request. Amery wondered why he was giving her so much audience when she was literally sitting across from him. She was his mate for crying out loud and not her.

"The meal is tasty. Thank you both for sharing it with me." Madeleine commended and they both smiled at her. At least she was well mannered.

The meal continued quietly with Amery picking her food and stabbing the plate. She did it unconsciously and so everyone decided that it was best to let her be. Levi finished up his meal and let his girlfriend lead him out of the dining area as they made their way into his bedroom, leaving her alone with Quincy.

She couldn't believe that she had let him kiss her only to come face-to-face with the love of his life today. She wasn't expecting much from Levi but she had hoped that nothing would ruin their moments together. Maybe she read a lot of meaning to the whole fake dating thing than she was expected to.
