Chapter 114

TWO DAYS LATER...

"I think we're done here." Quincy said to Amery as he wrapped up the finishing touches to the artwork that they were supposed to submit for the second stage of the competition. They had been working on it for hours but it seems as if Amery's mind has been too preoccupied thinking about other stuff. She wasn't focused on it as she was before and it actually got Quincy worried.

"Amery." He poked her with his fingers and she flinched. "Are you okay? I know that I've been asking this question frequently now but I can't help it. You seem to be lost and it's actually making me worry." He gave her a concerned look and she smiled at his thoughtfulness. Quincy has always been the one to tease her and make her feel uncomfortable but now he was the one offering her support and trying to share her problems with her. It made her feel a certain kind of warmth that she couldn't explain. The only person to treat her like this was Asher but now, he was no more available and Levi has been invested in his girlfriend who had come visiting two days ago with no plans of leaving.

It's been two days already and Amery was beginning to wonder why she was still sticking around and refusing to leave. She didn't want to admit to her feelings and the longing inside of her but she misses him a lot.

At school, was the only time she was allowed to be closer to him but after that, he treated her like some kind of stranger. Even when he drove her home to see Quincy after school, he never said a word to her in the car. She even tried bringing up different topics for a conversation but he turned them down or acted as though he wasn't interested in any.

She found out recently that ever since he became distant, she wanted him close to her. She was slowly getting used to the new Levi who showered her with so much attention and love even though it was fake. She doesn't know if it's her wolf talking or if these emotions were real but as long as she felt them, they had to mean something right?

"I'm fine Quincy." She answered at last, but her mind was a bit distant. She was seated here but it didn't look like she was. "I was just thinking about homework and stuff." She lied through her teeth.

"I'm surprised that even the smart kids think about homework. It only means that we're not all useless don't you think?" He proceeded to pick up the already finished work. The second stage of the contest involved making a video about yourself making art. It was supposed to show the other side of the contestants hidden behind the camera.

"Would you be spending the night here with us?" He asked and she ducked her head. "It's almost late at night and it wouldn't be safe for you to leave."

"I already called my parents and I told them that I would be staying here for the night."

"Good. I'm glad that they see things your way these days." He commended.

"Well, they don't have that much of a choice anyways. And besides they're trying to make amends for what had happened the other time in school when you got expelled." She said in a low voice.

"You still haven't forgiven your father for that?" He arched a brow at her.

"I'm trying to but it's just so hard. When I found out that I was adopted, I was scared that I would lose both of them but I didn't know that he wasn't scared of losing me so I just left it at that. I'm trying to move on but I think I won't be able to do it at a go so I'm giving myself enough space to heal."

"You'll be fine. I know you will." He reassured her with a smile. "And on that note, please tell me that you didn't forget to save the footage because I'm supposed to upload it on the website now." He panicked, fear flashing through his orbs. "Of course I didn't. Here." Amery removed the flash drive and connected it to the laptop so that she could upload the video. "And done."

"Thanks Amery. I promise to get you ice-cream as a thank you treat for helping me with all of this."

"Can't wait!" She squealed excitedly but her excitement was short-lived when she heard giggling sounds coming from outside Quincy's bedroom. Curious, she stepped out of the room and quietly followed the sound till it brought her to the living room. There, she saw Madeleine straddled on Levi's laps. Their lips were locked together in a heated kiss while his hands roamed over her body. They looked so engrossed in their actions that they didn't even know that she was standing there, watching them. "You're a bad boy you know that.." She heard Madeleine teasing Levi and she clenched her fists tightly beside her.

Just then, Levi whipped his head towards her direction and she immediately became self-conscious. He had perceived her scent when she walked into the room.

"Amery, you're here." Madeleine pushed herself away from Levi and sat down next to him.

"Yes, I um...I wanted to grab a bottle of water from the fridge. Carry on and just pretend like I wasn't even here in the first place." She muttered nervously and dashed Into the kitchen. There, alone with no one to judge her or make her feel small, she basked herself in her feelings as all the emotions washed up on her.

"Hi Ames. I was looking for you." Quincy stormed into the kitchen unannounced and she was forced to hide her tears.

"I wanted to get water. Is something wrong?"

"No. I just wanted to tell you that the video has been uploaded on the site and ask you if you would like to join me for a little late night swimming in the pool."

Amery dropped the bottle on the table. "You guys have a pool? How come I haven't seen it and I've been here more than once so it's ridiculous that I haven't seen it yet."

"You've never asked to see it. So should I take that as a yes?" He winked at her and she chuckled.

"Of course-"

"You guys are going swimming?" Madeleine asked out of the blue. Amery crunched her face in anger. The fact that she was everywhere was slowly starting to annoy her now. "I'd like to join you guys too. Me and Levi if it's okay."

Levi came out of the dark and joined them in the kitchen. Amery cussed her body for reacting to him even when she didn't want to. He had always managed to stir her feelings without even trying so hard. They lock eyes briefly but she quickly looked towards the opposite direction. "It's a big pool so you're welcome to join us. I was just getting Amery on board."

"I...um." Amery scratched her head. "I don't think I'll go swimming anymore. I'll sit this one out."

"But you were excited about the pool ever since I told you about it so why change your mind now?" Quincy asked, feeling perturbed at her sudden change of decision. "Come on Amery, don't bail on me now. There'll be drinks and we'll play a lot of games and have fun."

"I don't think I'm up for it. I'm sorry."

"Alright then. I guess it's going to be just the three of us." She mused. Amery somehow felt that she was doing all of these acts on purpose to get to her. she has been hugging onto Levi ever since she came, she hasn't left his side, she always wanted to be involved in all of the activities especially if it involved her which would only mean that Madeleine didn't like her that much.

It bothered Amery but if that's what she was playing at then she would gladly show her that two can play this game. After all Levi was her mate and she has a right over him as well.

"I changed my mind." She countered. "I would like to swim with you in the pool Quincy."

"Alright." He hit his fists In the air in utter excitement. "I am so glad that you changed your mind. Come on people, let's go." He held Amery's hands and dragged her out of the kitchen. She took one look at Levi before exiting the kitchen with Quincy who took her to the part of the mansion where the pool was situated.

They arrived and she gasped in shock. She couldn't believe her eyes. "This has been here the entire time?"

"Of course. Now let's get wet." Quincy pulled off his clothes and dived into the water making a big splash. Amery waited for the right moment and as soon as she cited Levi she reached out for her buttons and started on doing them making sure to pin him down with her gaze. After getting half naked in front of him she tirelessly and seductively dive into the water as well.
