Emelda, Amery's mother, watched with great displeasure as the three brothers seemed to be in a happy mood, taking turns devouring the honey she sold for her overall well-being and care.

She hated them, and the initial happiness she had felt about getting the chance to see her daughter once again was overridden by the memory that it was for the sake of these three boys that she had been separated from her daughter for almost two decades. Perhaps, it wasn't their fault as they had not chosen to be born under such cruel fate, but she couldn't help but blame them and she hated the fact that they were happy while her life had been turned upside down because of them and the evil tyrant that was their father. Amery sensed her mother's tension and held her hand, which caused the woman to look at her and force a small smile in her direction.

"Come here," she said, and led Amery to the sofa, then motioned to her to sit down while she sat beside her.

Emelda pricked her arm a little to ensure that this wasn't another one of her imaginations, and that, truly, her daughter was right there with her. "Are you hungry? What would you like to eat?" she asked.

Amery shook her head, politely. "No, I'm okay. It's way too late for me to eat. I'll have something in the morning," she answered.

"How was your journey?"

"It was rough, but it wasn't necessarily bad," Amery replied.

Emelda touched Amery's face and smiled. "I'm sorry that you had to go through all that trouble. I should have gone to see you a long time ago, or probably even escaped into the human realm with you. Your father and I just thought you'd be safer without us," she explained.

Amery nodded in understanding. "It's okay. You don't need to dwell on the past," she explained.

Emelda looked up at the boys who were now calm and simply listening to the conversation that was going on between Amery and her mother. She could see the facial resemblance the boys shared with their late mother now and saw how they took after their father in terms of height and stature.

She ignored the feeling of wanting to do something drastic to them and rather just cleared her throat. "If you go through that corner..." she started, pointing her fingers towards the left, "...you'd see the bathroom. There's more than enough water in the tank. You can go and have your bath. I'll prepare the guest room for you to sleep in," Emelda said.

Levi and Asher were reluctant to go all at once, finding it more reasonable to go one after another, but recognising the fact that the mother and daughter duo needed some private time alone, Quincy urged them to leave at once and so, they excused them. "How did you meet those boys? How did you even know this place? What happened? Did the Alpha King chase you into the human realm? For years, we believed he had given up on searching for you," Emelda explained.

"It's a long story, mum. There was an accident and I found myself in the werewolf realm, and I somehow got entangled with Levi, Asher and Quincy. They've not been the best people to me, but they have really helped me in more ways than one, and when I was in a trance of you trying to save me when I was little from this place, they helped me find my way to you. I have so many things to tell you, Mum, and I need answers... a lot of answers," Amery explained.

Emelda held her daughter's hand. The last time she had done so, she had just been a baby, and her heart ached as she thought of just how many wonderful years she had lost because of that.

"What's wrong?" Amery asked, seeing her mother's sad expression.

Emelda shrugged. "It's nothing. It's just that even though I tried to get you out of the whole drama, you still somehow found your way to your destiny. Truly, no one can escape fate and what they were born for. If I had known that the result would be the same, I would have just kept you close to me," she explained.

Amery was confused even with this explanation. "I don't get you, mum. What are you talking about? What fate? What was I born for? Why am I so different?" she asked.

"With time, you'd know. So, which of those boys do you fancy?" Emelda asked.

Amery gave a shy smile and looked away from her mother. "I don't know. They all have amazing qualities which I admire, and at the same time, they all do some annoying things that make me want to hit them or something," she said, and they both burst into laughter.

When the laughter dried out, Emelda engaged Amery in another round of discussion. They spoke about everything... boys, school, food preferences, hobbies, and some major events that had happened in Amery's life, such as junior prom, becoming a freshman, her 16th birthday, leaving pre-school and her first kiss.

Amery wanted to keep speaking to her mother, but she couldn't cheat nature. She was exhausted, and after the long day's events, she needed to unwind and get a good night's rest. She could barely keep her eyes open and resorted to replying with just a murmur or a nod, and soon, she dozed off.

Noticing this, her mother carefully placed her head on her lap and began to stroke her brown hair, lovingly. In that moment, it was all okay, and Amery smiled in her sleep, dreaming of a beautiful life now that she had reunited with her mother and the Alpha Princes' relationship seemed to have improved.

As she slept, her mother's mind began to wander. Her daughter was cursed by the Moon Goddess, and whether she liked it or not, she was going to ruin two brothers' lives, but she didn't want that. Emelda wanted all three brothers gone, and with all the misery she had suffered just because she had birthed Amery, she wanted the Alpha King to suffer as well.

Her eyes rested on the picture frame on the wall, which showed her husband. It had been almost a year since she had last seen him, and for the first time since he had disappeared from her sight, her heart felt warm, knowing that with her daughter back, she could also get the love of her life back.

They had endured so much pain over the last eighteen years, and it was now their time to smile and for the tyrant Alpha to be brought to his knees.

"Sleep well, Ondina. Thank you for showing up when you did," Emelda whispered, and soon, she also drifted off to sleep, not conflicted about her decision and with absolute certainty that she was making the right choice.
