I'm a wolf.

A wolf of relatively decent size with a stark white coat.

I'm tossing my head back as much as no shoulders will allow me, my tongue lolling out the side of my mouth as I try to admire this new form.

I stare at my rump. There's a sudden urge to sniff my own a*s. Before I don't of my muzzle with his. His snout trails over the side of my face, sniffing, he moves to stand beside me. I feel his body press into mine slightly. 'Now run.'

My head jerks to his. Did I just hear his voice... in my head?

'RUN!'

This time, it's Levis.

"There!" A voice booms.

I don't hesitate. Pushing off on my hind legs, I leap into a sprint, amazed at how fast this new form makes me. We're dashing through the woods in a blurry haze. The men are hot on our heels, charging after us with zero abandon. But were running as fast as we can. Me in front, all three.

Princes behind me. Quincy's wolf moves into my peripheral, he picks up speed once he catches my attention. I charge after him.

Someone snorts though the bond. I can't tell who did it.

I hear them close behind us. In my wolf form, everything is so heightened. My vision is brighter, more potent, vivid. I feel like I can see everything, even in the darkness of the moonless night. The smells, the feel of the air billowing through my fur. It's exhilarating. I love every second of it.

'Go on ahead. I'll distract them.'

It's Levi's voice in my head, spouting off absolute nonsense. I stop in my tracks, turning to face his wolf that's already facing the direction of the men chasing us.

'No!'

His head snaps in my direction, titling, as if to say, no?

'No you can't go! You could be killed'

'Don't exaggerate, I need to buy us some time. This isn't up for discussion, go.

Asher is behind me, pressing his head against my backside to urge me forward, 'He's got this, let's get the hell out of here.

I let him push me forward. I let him convince me to keep running Tet him convince me to leave Levi behind

'Don't die" | warn

"Like you could get rid of me that easily!

We run until hes nothing but a spot in the distance behind us.

*********

We've been on the move for so long, it's already way past dawn before we make it to any pack lands of sorts.

Asher's already gone ahead to survey the village. I've shifted back into my skin, fully dressed and laying on the ground when he comes back.

"It's a rogue town." He states.

My eyes dart between his and Quincy's, "A rogue town?

What does that mean?"

"It's just a home for a bunch of unregistered wolves," Quincy explains, "They have no packs of their own, so they've created something nice here for others like them. A rogue pack of sorts."

"Oh," say. It's quite endearing, "Does that mean it's safe to stay here?"

"Yeah," Asher answers, "I aired out one of the empty cabins closer to the forest. We can stay there for the meantime."

"Good so we're safe." Quincy states.

"For now." Asher adds.

"Levi isn't safe," I whisper, hating myself for caring so much. After everything that asshole put me through, I'm still unable to breathe properly at the though of his life being in danger. Even though I'm quite privy of the times he's tried to end my life "He'll be fine." Quincy says, "You don't have to worry about Levi, okay?"

"Why hasn't he caught up to us yet, were not been moving for a while. If he wasn't caught, he should be here by now." I'm talking a lot, but my voice is numb. The adrenaline is starting to wear off, and now, I'm not quite sure how I feel about anything. "Listen, Princess," Asher sighs, dropping down to sit beside me, "Stop worrying about Levi. He can hold his own."

A beat of silence passes between the three of us.

"So you want to tell us what the hell happened back there?"

Asher asks.

I'm staring at nothing in particular when I ask, "When were you planning on telling me about the prophecy?"

I feel them stare at each other, then both turn to stare at me.

Quincy is the one who breaks the silence first, "How much do you know about the prophecy?"

My voice comes out brittle, "Enough."

"Shit." Asher curses, and it's the only confirmation I need They lied. "We could've told you but-" "But you didn't." I cut in, "Why?"

"I's some messed up s**t, Amery." Quincy says, "There was no need to wrap you up in all that."

"What the hell does that even mean?" I hear the pitch in my voice rise, "You didn't want to get me wrapped up in your s**t, so you thought it completely logical to not tell me that if I ever let one of you mark me, the other two will die?"

"Are you all out of your minds?" I continue, getting to my feet, "Is this some sort of sick game to you guys? Is that why you've all been vying for my affection like some lost dogs? Because you don't want to be the one that has to die?" I turn on the grass, facing both of them, "That's the reason Levi keeps trying to kill me, right? He thinks that if I die, you all get to live."

Asher drops his head into his hands. Quincy stares at the ground.

"Answer me!" I shout, tossing my hands up in the air. It's one thing to keep secrets, but it's a whole other to withhold information when lives are at stake. "What the hell has actually been going on all this time? Today, we could have all died, and I strongly believe that all this could have been avoided if you'd just told me fitig truth in the first place."

Neither of them look me in the eye, and it feels like I'm boiling inside out.

"There's a man after mel" I yell, barely able to control the venom in my voice, "He has my birth father in captivity and he's refusing to let him go until my mom brings me to him. For an exchange. She wanted to do that today." Asher lifts his head, a horrified expression frozen on his face.

"She wasn't going to trade me," I tell him, holding his gaze," She was going to make the exchange for my dad with the three of you. Heirs to the throne."

Quincy kisses his teeth, getting up from where's he's sat. He kicks at a stray rock with his bare toes, "This is all just a bunch of bullshit." "Yeah, no kidding." Asher says.

"Yeah, no kidding." I mimic, "And there's more." Both boys turn to look at me, once again giving me their full attention.

"There's a deadline."

"A deadline?" Asher c***s his head, "For what."

The words are stuck in my throat, "For the prophecy." Quincy moves closer to me, straining upwards slightly to hear whatever I have to say.

"My mom told me," I say, "She told me about the prophecy and how there's a deadline for the curse or whatever the hell this s**t is."

"A deadline as in? A time limit?" Quincy questions.

I nod once.

He sucks in a sharp breath through his teeth.

"When's the deadline?" Asher asks.

"My nineteenth birthday."

A pause.

"And what exactly happens on your nineteenth birthday?" I hesitate for a moment. Inhaling deeply and letting it out through my nose before I offer a reply. "If I don't choose one of you before that day" I tell them, "All three of you are going to die."
