Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 164
If at a loss for words could be moulded into two people, it would be the Alpha Princes at this very moment.
Quincy has his gaze focused on the rock he's been kicking around, his lips pressed tightly together.
Asher's
put his head back in his hands.
It's one royal clusterfuck.
"I'm guessing from your reactions that you didn't know about that part." Amery breaks the deafening silence this time.
Asher attempts to wrack his brain for something to say, hell, anything at all. But theres only one thought channelling through his mind at the moment.
And it's, f**k f**k}f**K}f**k.
F**k
How the hell did things spiral so beyond their control?
They'd kept a lid on this whole thing with Amery right from the beginning, and with the dynamic, they've always had as brothers, eventually, it turned into a sort of unconscious game.
Who could f**k her first?
Who could mark her first?
Who would get to live?
And now s**t has gotten so out of hand, there's nowhere to begin if they'd ever want to piece things back together.
"How sure are you?" Quincy asks. His voice is solemn, grave.
Asher was ninety-five per cent sure Quincy didn't want to know the answer to what he'd just asked.
"I'm not sure at all," Amery whispered.
The vice around Asher's chest tightened, its grip was now akin to a steel clamp. Her uncertainty did nothing to calm his raging spirit. He gets to his feet, walking away from Amery and his brother so he can hide his turmoil.
That damn prophecy always pissed him off from the very beginning. Everything about it was so f*****g unfair. And now, what the hell could he even do? What the hell can any of them do? They could all sit like ducks and die, that was always an option. But who the hell does that benefit? Who the hell gets to make that choice?
Quincy just stares at his brother's retreating figure, arms folded over his chest as he says nothing.
"I don't want it to be true." Amery sighs. "It shouldn't be. I can't be. That's too unfair."
"Life is unfair," Quincy states.
Amery turns her head sharply, staring at him with her red-rimmed, glassy eyes, "How can you say that at a time like this?"
And his heart just... breaks.
After all the s**t they've put her through since the day they'd found out about this whole prophecy, after everything she's suffered at the hands of the Alpha Princes, she still has it in her heart to be torn over their demise.
Something that, looked at from wide angles, wouldn't even be her fault
"Do you not care about the fact that either two of you could die? Or that you all could?"
"I do."
"Then what the hell?" She throws her hands up in frustration, "Why aren't we going above and beyond to do something about it? Why aren't we trying to fix it?"
We.
She said we, not you guys, but 'we'.
To Quincy, that didn't go unnoticed.
He clears his throat, "Amery, I don't think there's a way around this prophecy."
"There has to be!" She cries, "There has to be a loophole, some cheat, some trick to it. Oh my God, how do we even know for sure if this prophecy is even a real thing?" "Itis." He replies.
"How do you know that though?" Her voice shrill, uncontrolled, "Just because."
"Amery." Quincy interrupts her, a sad frown pulling down his features. "Stop."
Her expression is a mix of shock and horror, lips parted wide open as she stares at him.
"I can't." She says, whispering. Her shoulders sagging as she curls into herself, looking away from him. She pulls her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. "I can't just do nothing. I can't just blindly believe that all this is true." "You need to face the f*****g facts." Asher walks up to them, all his patience long evaporated into thin air, "We're not living in some goddamn fairy-tale. This is reality. And you need to face. Facts."
"Have you ever bothered asking yourself why the hell you have those powers?" he continues, his eyes unwavering from Amery's, "You ever bothered to check in on that? Why a king has dozens of his skilled warriors patrolling for you?
It's not a coincidence, Amery. We don't have time for you to be in denial."
"Then what do we have time for?" She shouts, rising to her feet. Her cheeks are flushed as she meets him toe to toe, their chests brushing.
"What exactly would you prefer !
rather do? Suck it up and pin you all in a line-up? So I can make my pick?"
Asher's jaw tightens, it's taking everything in him not to lash out. Not to say something hell regret. But his emotions are boiling over, day in and day out, it's been the same s**t they've all been dealing with. He blinks and there's something else. He's f*****g tired of it. "Why did that man want you?" he asks.
"Excuse me?" Amery's expression betrays her confusion.
"The king." Asher states, "You said your mother was going to trade up the three of us to get her husband back. You said she was making us take your place. But the men that showed up at that house had orders to bring in all of us."
She steps back from him with a pause, her eyes meeting the ground, "I don't know."
"It's possible your mother lied to you. Maybe she only cared about getting her husband back."
"No." Amery's gaze cuts to Quincy, hot and steady with her denial, "She locked me in the basement so I wouldn't try to save you guys. I might not have known her for that long, but I know she didn't want to give me up. The king promised that he would forget all about me if he had the heirs to the throne instead."
"So she made a deal with a cheat." Asher pipes in, "He was going to betray her. Where the hell was she during all this anyway?"
Amery ducks her head, that delicate flush spreading up her neck again.
Quincy steps closer to her, "Did you do something to her?"
"I didn't mean to," she looks up, "I swear I didn't. But I was so mad, I could barely even think straight and it just happened." "What just happened?"
"I accidentally used my powers on her. That's how I even, got out of the basement."
"You mean you did to her what you did to the men blocking the back exit?"
"No," she shakes her head at Asher, "It wasn't nearly as bad.
She's not dead."
"How did you learn to use your powers like that anyway?"
Quincy asks.
"I didn't." Amery says, staring down at her open palms, "It just... happened. All I know is I was so mad, I felt so helpless and I heard the men getting closer to the house. I needed to save you, I needed to get out. And then I screamed in front of the closed door, and a second later it... blew apart."
The boys' eyes widen, they share a shocked glance before looking at Amery once again.
"Woah," Quincy says.
"Yeah," Amery breathes, "It was so crazy, and I was so shocked but there wasn't time for me to be shocked. I wanted to get you guys to safety. But then she was trying to talk to me and I wanted her to get away from me. So when she touched me, I brushed her off, and she went flying."
Asher lets out a breath, running a hand through his hair," She went flying, huh?"
"Yes. She just crashed into the wall. But I saw her move, so I know she's still alive."
"She's still alive. Her husband is still in captivity. The man who's after us is still f*****g breathing." Now Asher tugs at his hair with both hands, "f**k. f**k it all to hell! There's no way this can end well."
"Which is why I've been saying we have to do something.
We have to do something about all this!"
"f*****g hell!" Asher growls, "Have you not heard anything I've been saying?"
"ve been gone for hours," A voice calls out from the distance, "Nice to see nothing's changed."
All three heads turn towards the interruption.
