Claiming My Wolf -
Chapter 64
~~Sadie’s PoV~~
Everyone else leaves, taking Micah’s dad’s body with them, and I turn back to Logan a little shyly. He’s standing there completely naked, of course, and even though I know I shouldn’t, I can’t help glancing down at him.
When I lift my eyes again, he’s smiling at me, his eyebrows raised. “Really, Sadie? You couldn’t wait a few more days?”
“What do you mean?” The way he’s looking at me makes my heart race.
“I mean, it’s your 18th birthday in a few days,” he reminds me. “And then I can claim you properly as my mate. With everything that involves.”
He steps closer to me, his scent flooding my senses. He smells like rain and the ocean, a smell I could definitely drown in.
“You want to wait until then?” I can’t help asking, and he laughs.
“I don’t want to, trust me. But I want to do everything right with you, Sadie. Now that I know you were always meant to be mine, I want it to be perfect.”
My heart twinges a little. Even after everything that’s happened tonight, even after me finally accepting the Moon Goddess’ fate for me, it stings to hear him say that he wouldn’t have chosen me otherwise.
Logan seems to feel my uncertainty. “s**t, no, that’s not what I meant.” He runs a hand through his hair in frustration. “Why do I always say the wrong thing? I swear I’ll get better at this, Sadie. I just meant, I was going to make you mine anyway. but now that I know it was meant to be, it makes it even better.”
“Really?” I want to believe him, but it seems so unlikely after everything we talked about before. “You were really going to choose me?”
“Really?” I want to believe him, but it seems so unlikely after everything we talked about before. “You were really going to choose me?”
“I really was,” he promises. “And you were going to choose me, right?”
“I guess we’ll never know,” I tease him. Someday I’ll tell him everything that happened with Selene and why I made the choice I did. But not tonight. Tonight, we’ve both been through enough already.
He talks me through how to shift, and it’s honestly not as hard as I expected. Ebony does most of the work. I just have to let her take control of my body, our body, and once she does, she initiates the shift herself. It hurts like hell, especially since I’m still healing from my wounds, and then once we’re in our wolf body, it’s the weirdest thing I have ever experienced. My eyesight is sharper, my ears hear better and I can smell a million more things than before, but Logan’s scent is still strongest of all. It feels like I could find him from miles away.
‘Let’s go,’ he says to me in my head after he turns into his wolf too, and together we run back through the woods, our pace in perfect sync.
He takes me back to my aunt and uncle’s house. When we get to the front door, he speaks in my head again. ‘Stay there, I’ll get the door open.’
He shifts back to his human form and knocks on the door. My aunt opens it and she looks like she’s been crying. “Logan? Do you have any news about Ava?”
Ava? What’s happened to Ava? I don’t have any idea what she’s talking about, but Logan seems to. “She’s at the hospital, they’re just operating now. Aaron’s there with her, he’ll update you as soon as he can. For now, can I leave Sadie with you? I’ll be back to see her in the morning, but I think after everything, she could use a good night’s sleep in her own bed.”

“Sadie?” My aunt looks down at my wolf in shock. “But… how?”
“I don’t entirely know,” Logan admits, and I realize there’s still more I need to tell him. “There’s going to be a lot to sort through in the morning.”
He crouches down, looking straight into my wolf’s eyes.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Sadie.”
I nod at him and he strokes my fur, sending little sparks flying through me again, and then he shifts back into his wolf and heads off back to the pack house. I have a feeling his night isn’t over yet, but he’s right about one thing. Now that it’s all over, I’m absolutely exhausted.
My aunt takes me upstairs and makes sure I get shifted back to my human body okay. I know she has a lot of questions, but she’s also distracted about Ava, so when the phone rings, I tell her to go and I’ll see her in the morning.
It doesn’t take long at all before I fall into the deepest sleep of my life.
