Death Wolf Saga
Death Wolf Chapter 69 (Book 2)

Silas’s pov

I lift myself up from the bed, looking around to find myself in my room.

Sweat running down my forehead and my vision still a little hazy.

“Your majesty! You are awake! How do you feel now?”

One of the maids asks, bringing in a bowl filled with ice cubes and water.

“What happened to me?”

I ask, when a sharp pain hits me skull and I literally hold my forehead. Letting out a g***n.

“You were having very high fever Alpha.”

Suddenly I remember , Alexandria rejecting me and leaving. And every cell in my body froze.

No…I can’t let this happen! She can’t reject me dammit!

I have to her her back! Where did she go all alone! Why did she steal the red book!

Fuc*! The mysterious forest! She went there!

Dammit! Little one! How can you go there alone!

No. I have to go and save her! I can’t let her die!

Removing the comforter, I was determined to leave. When another sharp pain hits my forehead. Making me hold the wall for support.

“Alpha please! You can’t get up! Your body is too weak!”

The maid pleaded but Alexandria’s face flashes in front of me and I shake my head. Trying to reach the door.

My entire body was protesting, my vision blurry. But I had to reach her no matter what.

Another sharp pain hits my head and I lost my balance. Falling in front ,to have two strong arms steady me.

I look up to see Ace looking at me with concern evident in his eyes.

“Calm down Alpha. You can’t go anywhere in this state.”

“No …she….she needs me….I need to save her….”

I say almost pleading. And Ace sighs, making me sit on the bed. Placing a glass of water near my lips.

“Wh… what’s wrong with me?”

I ask him and he looks down. Not knowing how to say the truth.

“You were rejected Alpha. Once rejected, your wolf dejects from you, and suffers from intense pain. It tries not to harm the human but still some effects show.”

Fuc*! This damned wolf! If I had not lost my control and he hadn’t forcefully marked her.

All this wouldn’t have happened!

Breathing heavily, I try to clear my hazy vision.Ignoring the burning in my chest.

“When can I leave for the earliest?”

“It depends Alpha. The more you rest.”

Damn it!

“Get me Neil. I need to send a search team. I can’t let her go!”

“Search team for where Alpha? I am afraid Elora and Sir Jason are already leaving with half of the team.”

“Leaving? Where?”

“The mysterious forest Sir. The hunter finally told us of the heirs whereabouts.”

No! Don’t tell me they are also going there.

I can’t just lay here and do nothing.

“Ace.Get my car ready. We will be joining them.”

“But Sir you are not well-“

“I don’t care! Do it!”

He bows and leaves, while I try to control my heavy breathing. I am coming little one.

You are mistaken if you think you can run from me.

You may have rejected me, but until I accept it.

You can never be free of me.

Never little one. I am coming for you!

Alexandria’s pov

I wake up to my vision blurry and my limbs aching, like I have run a marathon.

I try to move, to only find something wet on my forehead and hands.

“Don’t move.”

I hear a heavy rugged voice. And I open my eyes to only find those same set of steel grey eyes looking down at me.

The room or rather the hut was lightly lit by the Amber flames of the wood burning in a corner.

The yellow light falling on his face, making me look at him clearly.

“Y..ou…”

I didn’t know what to say. But the man didn’t minded a bit. Busy picking up the piece of cloth on my forehead, dipping it in the water, churning it to place it back on my forehead.

He worked silently.

“Umm wh…o are y..o..u?”

I ask looking around. A hut in the mysterious forest? The man lives inside here? How is it possible? I heard no one survives inside it…then how come this man?

“Hold it”

He says, not bothering to reply to my previous question. Asking me to place my hand on my forehead, keeping the cloth steady.

I oblige. Without a word.

As he turns around and rushes to a steel utensil kept on flame.Switching it off to only say something to himself.

I see him pouring it’s content s into a bowl. And come towards me.

Placing the thing on the side table.

I look at the bowl ,it had a steaming soup like thing in it and my stomach immediately growls.

Man! I haven’t eaten since last 24 hours now.

I look up to find the man’s scrutinizing gaze fixed on me and I gulp. Why is he looking at me like that?

Don’t get me wrong, I trust this man.

After all he saved my life, but those grey orbs. They had mysteries which were even more dense than mine.

“Wo…n’t you eat?”

I ask. To only see him sigh. Moving his head in a no. To lean back on his chair.

“The stock is limited and the next carriage from the human town doesn’t comes in 3 more days.”

I couldn’t say anything. Just stare at him. That dream very much alive in my mind.

I am sure this was the person I saw.

He has changed alot.

His perfect features were hidden behind that unkept beard which he didn’t seemed to have trimmed since ages. His hair long , tied in a ponytail.

His cheeks were hollow and body thin, showing he had lost a lot of his weight.

What happened to him?

“What is a girl like you doing here?”

He says suddenly. While staring at me. And I decided to trust me.

“I am here to look for my mother?”

“She looked just like me! Except for my eyes. The death wolf took her years ago and I…came here to search for her.”

“You seem to live here….so have seen her?”

I see his back stiffen. But he doesn’t say anything.

“No.”

The hope rising in my chest dies as I look down.

“Oh…I am sorry…I thought maybe you knew her…”

“Hundreds like you come here, searching for their dead loved ones, to never return.”

He says turning his back on me. Going towards a slab, to mix some herbs into a bowl.

He continues to work while I stay in silence.

Not knowing what to do or say.

Till my curiosity got the best of me and I ask him the question, I wanted to ask him since I saw those creatures.

“Those wolves…in the forest. I have never seen something like that before. Do you happen to know who they were?”

Silence.

Man! This person was so frustrating! Why can’t he just answer.

Not that I was going to give up any sooner.

“Since how long are you living here? I haven’t heard of someone living in this deadly mysterious forest?”

Silence.

.

.

.

“You must be bored sitting here alone. I can give you company.Or better, I bet we both can work together to avenge!”

.

.

.

“Anyways you will be needing someone. You know killing that wolf is not that easy.”

.

.

.

“Have you seen it before? You know no one has seen it till now”

.

.

“Life really changes. Just few days back I didn’t even knew werewolves existed and look at me now?”

“In this mysterious forest with you, surrounded by dangers and death!”

“Life can be really change drastically. Trust me”

.

.

.

“Wait, but why do you live here?Do you also lost someone to the death wolf? Are you also searching for that person? Do you also loved-“

“Just shut the hell up girl! And drink that damned soup!”

The person literally roars at me. Keeping down the knife with which he was cutting the leaves.

Sh**! He looked scary.

I let out a nervous laugh. Gulping to pick up the bowl and drink the soup.

Yumm. It tasted good.

He breathes, trying to control his anger. To only settle down on a chair.

My questions seemed to have gotten onto his nerves.

Running his hand through his long hair. He finally settles his eyes on me.

“The wolves you encountered before were the wolves of people whose souls the death wolf has taken before.”

“They were not living. They were dead. Just puppets of that death wolf.”

I blink. Souls? Dead? Were those ghosts? It explains the red eyes.

It looked like they were hypnotized by something.

And this something being the death wolf itself.

The voice in my head was right…they needed help. They were held captive by the powers of the death wolf!

“So it means…their souls are entrapped? We need to save them then! “

The man sighs. To only look at me with softened eyes.

“You can’t save those that have already died girl. You can only save the one living.”

“I will show you the way out of this forest tomorrow. Go and save yourself.”

I don’t know what happened inside me. I felt angry at his words.

No! There has to be a way! I won’t be leaving!

“No! I won’t leave! My mother is there entrapped! Waiting for me to save her! I won’t let her to die! I will save her!”

The man’s eyes softened again. Till I speak the next words that made him go still.

“When you love someone? You don’t doubt them! You don’t leave them! You trust them!”

“And I trust her! I trust her even in my dreams! She is here and she needs me!”

I scream trying to get up. Struggling with my trembling legs, as he stares at me blankly.

“Who was you mother?”

He asks suddenly getting interested. And I lift up my head to speak unafraid.

“Thora Valentine Black”

His eyes widen , and the look of horror that covered his features.

Were a testimony to it, that my dream was indeed true.

“Tho….ra?”

He asks, his hands trembling. And that’s when I see a rogue tear leave his eyes.

As he lifts his hand to touch my face.

And I go still.
