Divorced Heiress -
I am Not A Contract Chapter 6
Sarah followed her friend's steps, realizing what had just happened, and looked worriedly at her cousin's car until it disappeared from her field of vision. Of course, she knew it wouldn't be convenient to mention anything related to Vincent, for fear of how the brunette might react.
Although it was more than evident that Abby was biting her tongue in anger, and that if she had him in front of her, she would be capable of hitting him relentlessly just to let off steam, so she preferred not to say a word until they arrived at the presidential floor. In complete silence, Sarah glanced at Abby's face out of the corner of her eye. Her slightly flushed cheeks let her know that her blood was boiling inside and that she was hiding her anger and insults towards Vincent behind a faint fake smile.
"Will you take your belongings with you or would you prefer me to send them to you?" Sarah asked as the metal elevator doors opened. Abby shook her head, coming out of her thoughts, in which she could only curse Vincent's few eggs, and together they left the elevator.
"I don't have many things, I can take them myself, Abby dismissed it with a wave of her hand, changing the subject quickly in an attempt to erase that man from her mind. It wasn't worth mentally exhausting herself over him.
"I'm going to prepare everything for the cruise reservation. It will be an unforgettable evening, you'll see."
"I have to admit that everything that comes from you scares me a little," Sarah said with amusement in her voice, immediately understanding that she didn't want to touch on the topic of her retirement.
Abby smiled proudly from ear to ear at Sarah's confession.
"Thank you for such a compliment. Otherwise, nothing would make sense," Abby responded, feeling her mood gradually improving. Furthermore, she knew she wouldn't encounter that jerk because he had left. She had enough time to collect her things and leave without being seen by Vincent.
When they passed by Zafiro's workshop, L&J's star designer, Abby's gaze stopped on the face of a man she hadn't seen since the company's inauguration.
Bastian immediately connected his hazel gaze with Abby's, and he couldn't contain the smile as he saw her face light up.
Suddenly, he felt a chill run down his spine, raising the hairs on his neck, and he had to hide the slight tremor in his hands by gripping the share transfer document he had been holding since leaving his older brother's office.
Then, at that precise moment, he realized that no matter how much he stayed away from that woman or how many times he told himself that she was off-limits because she was his older brother's girlfriend, his efforts to forget her were in vain.
What he was starting to feel for her, inexplicably, was growing larger every day. He confirmed it just by locking eyes with her and realizing how it affected even his breathing.
He knew this because just by seeing her face, he felt that every part of his body was invaded by immense tranquility, filling him with peace. He felt ecstatic to the point of forgetting the argument he had had with Vincent a couple of hours ago. Even though they were meters apart, thousands of images passed through his mind, and in all of them, they were making each other happy.
Bastian no longer had any doubts; they all disappeared the moment she appeared in his field of vision.
I'm head over heels in love with my brother's ex-girlfriend.
Now that Bastian was aware of Abby's situation, he wouldn't repress his feelings out of fear of causing a confrontation with his brother over a woman, especially when he knew he had a clear path to approach her and the opportunity to do what his i*t of a brother didn't do and wouldn't do.
However, he didn't want to be seen as if he were taking advantage of the brunette's most vulnerable moment.
Since he found out about Vincent's treachery towards Abby, he hadn't been able to erase the anger the whole situation caused him.
He felt so powerless, felt the need to do so much for that woman, but the last thing he wanted was for her to end up distancing herself and losing his only chance of making them more than friends, beyond just fake boyfriends.
If I was going to do something about it, I would do it right or not at all.
"Abby!"
Bastian found it impossible to hide the excitement in his voice from just seeing her, and he got up from the chair where he had been sitting while talking to Zafiro since he left Vincent's office.
"Excuse me for a second, Zaf, I'll be back in a minute to finish going through the drafts of the new collection. It's looking amazing, there's no doubt about that."
"But of course they're amazing, who do you take me for?
My hands have magic, everything I touch turns into art, but it wouldn't work with you," said Zafiro effusively, waving her hand in the air and greeting the pair of women who had stopped at the entrance of the workshop, curiously looking at Bastian. They had no slightest idea of what the dark-haired man did at the company, if he had kept himself out of business, why was he at L&J so early?
'You're right, that wouldn't work with me, my Zaf. I am already art," Bastian joked, playing along with Zafiro, causing her to burst into hysterical laughter at his remark.
She playfully shook her head while watching him walk away. With that exchange of jokes, Bastian felt less overwhelmed and approached Sarah and Abby naturally to greet them with a warm hug. "Sarah, my dear, you're radiant as always."
"What a surprise to see you here, Bastian. Is everything okay?" Sarah asked as they broke the hug, and Bastian smiled genuinely before responding.
"Everything is fine," Bastian replied before looking at Abby, still wearing a smile on his face.
Within seconds, he observed every detail of her face; in her brown eyes, he could see how she caused chaos like in hell, that made him feel alive, but it also made him feel like a sinner. "Long time no see, and you're still as beautiful as ever."
When his arms surrounded the brunette's body, he felt his legs threaten to tremble and his heart began to beat so forcefully in his chest that he feared Abby could hear it.
He closed his eyes as his nostrils were filled with the floral and sweet scent of her perfume, as if he wanted to memorize the exquisite fragrance of the woman who drove him crazy.
After swallowing hard in an attempt to swallow the butterflies that threatened to escape from his mouth, Bastian was forced to let go of Abby, even though his whole being pleaded with him to stay embraced to her until his arms couldn't take it anymore. Abby, on the other hand, had a mixture of feelings that left her uneasy. On one hand, she felt calm being in his arms because she hadn't realized she needed a comforting hug, and on the other hand, she felt that hugging Bastian was the same as hugging Vincent. It wasn't about their similarities, because despite the similarity of their well-worked bodies and almost identical physical features, it wasn't the same to feel a hug from Bastian as it was from Vincent. It was mostly because they were brothers, and the first thing Abby thought was that they shared the same ideas.
He's a Lefebvre! Abby thought that, being brothers, they were cut from the same cloth.
Thinking about that, Abby quickly stepped away from his arms, feeling upset, but this time with Bastian, even though he hadn't done her the slightest harm.
"What are you doing here?" Abby asked directly, not hiding the disdain in her voice. It was more than evident that she didn't like Bastian's visit at all, as if she were seeing Vincent.
Sarah stood frozen by her side at the unexpected reception from the brunette, and immediately knew that she was connecting one with the other.
Big mistake!
