Connor strode over with determined steps.

"Diana, what on earth are you doing?" His voice was as cold and stern as a winter night. Diana had heard him approaching long before he spoke.

She didn't bother turning around. Her eyes were glued to the horizon.

"Uncle Connor, isn't it beautiful up here?" she asked, almost dreamily.

"Do you think if I jumped from here, I'd turn into a butterfly with wings?"

"Diana, get down from there," Connor's voice sliced through the air, both firm and frigid.

But Diana remained still.

"Uncle Connor, do you have any idea what these last two months have been like for me? It's as if twenty years have passed. I've been in so much pain, and I can't help but hate you all."

Connor stood silent for a moment. "Everyone has to take responsibility for their actions. I'm deeply sorry for your loss, but that's not on me."

"How can you say that? If I hadn't seen your marriage certificate, none of this would have happened."

"Diana, you're old enough to see how ridiculous that sounds. Do you really think the world revolves around you? That everyone should cater to your feelings? You honestly believe I'd give up the love of my life just to keep you from being upset?" His voice grew even colder. "You're overthinking things."

Diana finally turned her wheelchair to face him. Her face was a canvas of anger, her eyes blazing like a dark fire.

"Uncle Connor, do you really not care about me at all?"

"If I didn't care, I wouldn't be here," Connor replied, his voice deep and frosty. "But Diana, if you don't value your own life, how can you expect others to? If you want to jump, go ahead."

Diana stared at him, unable to believe what she was hearing.

Disappointment, anger, disbelief-everything surged within her.

Ever since Chloe entered his life, it was like she didn't matter anymore. Maybe he'd always seen her as a burden.

Tears welled up, threatening to fall.

Connor continued, "I'm here only to tell you that threatening me with your life won't work."

"If you're going to jump, do it now. I'll handle what comes after."

That broke her. Tears streamed down her cheeks.

In the end, she wheeled herself away from the edge and approached Connor.

Tentatively, she reached out and grabbed his sleeve, her expression suddenly softening.

Gone was the anger, replaced by a look so vulnerable it tugged at the heartstrings. "Uncle Connor, please don't treat me like this. You know how much you mean to me."

"I've lost a leg, and every day feels worse than death, but I've never

Uncle Connor. I love you so much."

Connor pulled his arm back and took a step away.

"Diana, haven't I made myself clear before?"

She lowered her head, tears dropping one by one like rain. Her voice was nearly a whisper, laced with desperation.

"Uncle Connor, I've tried to let go, but

I just can't. don't mind if you love someone else, just give me a tiny space in your heart, even if it's just a corner A corner for us and the memories we shared, please?"

Connor remained unmoved. "I'm sorry,
