Demon War: Rise of the Alpha Chapter 73
"You promise you will keep her safe?" Jason asked as he held Jin into his chest. Her small frame next to him made him feel like she was even more vulnerable. He wanted her here and safe but leaving right now was gut wrenching. It was hard to leave his mate and unborn child. "I promise. She will be perfectly fine. Go concentrate on what you have to." Harley then looked up at Wyatt. "Nothing will happen to the Diamond pack territory with me here."
"Jin." Jason reached his hand up to her chin and tilted her head up to him gently. "I love you so much. I'm coming back to you, okay?" He watched her eyes water as she tried to fight off the tears. This tore him apart even more.
"You better come back to me." Jin offered him a brave smile and reached up to him on her tiptoes. "I love you, Jason." She whispered into his lips before she met with his own.
Jason pressed into her and moved his lips against her own. He deepened the kiss, pouring his love into it. Just in case, just in case he didn't make it back to her she would know how much she meant to him. He slowly pulled apart from her and traced his thumb over her cheek. He kissed her forehead and glanced up to see Wyatt and Freya already gone. The packs were all assembling and meeting up at Elysium and the Diamond pack was finally moving out.
"I'll be back before you know it." He squeezed her body gently before he released her. "I have to go." He said in a hoarse voice as he felt his eyes starting to blur from the rising tears. He quickly mustered up his resolve and strength to walk away from her. He quickly left the area while he could. He didn't turn around to show her the tears that were forming in his eyes. But then he stopped walking pausing for a moment. He turned to the side slightly. Not so much that she could see his eyes completely though. "Destiny." Jason said quietly. He smiled and then turned his head more to look at Jin. He could see the crystal streams flowing down her cheeks. "Let's name her Destiny. Since it was my destiny to be with you." Just in case he didn't make it back he wanted to feel like he had at least a small part in his daughter's life. He watched Jin smile and nod her head. This was even harder than he imagined. He looked behind Jin and to Harley who was smiling hearing the name of his mate.
"Take care of my girls." Jason said quietly and then shifted into his bear, running away. Jin would be safe. He knew that. Harley would keep her safe. He just wasn't sure if he would ever get to see her again or the face of his baby girl. The next day...
"There isn't anything we can do. Now what?" Tyler reached his hands up and rubbed Lilly shoulders.
"I'm scared. I'm so afraid because I have this really strong feeling screaming at me inside. Gosh, Tyler I'm afraid our babies are going to get stuck inside of that hole." A wet crystal streamed down Lilly's face as she leaned back into Tyler.
"As long as Titus is alive there will always be hope that they can return." Tyler shook his head and then forced a smile upon his face. "Lills we don't know what is going to happen. They might make it back out just fine."
"Baby if I could, I would go in their place. I would do anything to protect our family." Tyler leaned his head and rested his chin near her neck.
"I wish we could. But there would be no way for us to find our way back out." Lilly shook her head and looked down at the floor. "Mom and Dad are going to keep studying, but I'm sure if there was another way the moon goddess would have tried it already." "Come on Lilly. Let's go and visit with your brother before all hell breaks loose. He came here early to visit with you. You know how much he misses his 'Lillybug!" Tyler smiled into her neck and brushed his lips over her sensitive skin.
"Yes, I haven't gotten to see him and his son Ace much. But after the war is over things will finally be peaceful. I just hope that we will be able to visit with everyone. I don't know how I will handle it if-"
"Let's not think about it. We already agreed to let them make their own decisions over this matter, right? All we can do is support them and trust them. And if it all goes to hell... we will be here to pick up the pieces and hold the family together. That is our job, Lilly. Freya, Levi, Cody, Jason, Jin, and Kelsie will all need us. Same with Titus." He kissed her neck sweetly and wrapped his arm around her. "Come on baby. Let's have a few more good moments. And when the battle starts don't you leave my side for a second." Lilly giggled. "You are the one who left my side last time, remember?"
"Yeah, and I had a siren wanting to keep me for a mate."
Lilly growled. "Glad she was made an example of. If Rowan didn't kill her, I would have gone back to do the job."
Tyler chuckled. "I know you would have baby. I know."
Tristan, Lilly and Tyler left Elysium with the fairies who were able to fight. They didn't have to ask the kelpies twice they were always blood thirsty and ready for battle. Others were a bit more hesitant but still rose to the call. There were many different species gathering; all were answering the fairies call for aid.
Aaron and Ace walked out with them just as the werewolf packs starting trickling in. The werewolves had run in their wolf forms the whole way making travel way faster. They wanted to make sure they had time to rest and setup before the demons arrived. They shifted back into their human forms and began making preparations; setting up their camps.
Wyatt, Freya, and Jason strayed from the gathering packs and walked up towards Lilly and Tyler. They passed Aaron and Ace who nodded their head in acknowledgement as they continued back to their pack. Lilly outstretched her arms and hugged both Wyatt and Freya. Then she hugged Jason and squeezed him tightly.
"Rest easy knowing she is at home safe." Lilly whispered in his ear. Then in a breath only audible to him. "I bet your brother wishes he could have left Freya there too."
Jason smiled and nodded his head. He understood what his mother was saying. He needed to actually be thankful that Jin wasn't here. Because Wyatt has the real worry of losing his mate. Their whole family was fighting against the demons and he knew they were all nervous. There was a chance their family would forever be altered after this war. He glanced over at Wyatt who was holding Freya's hand as he talked with their dad and Tristan. He would do his duty as a guardian. It was his job to protect Wyatt no matter what and that is exactly what he was going to do.
"Little cub." Tristan took a step towards Jason. Lilly smiled up at Tristan and then walked back to Tyler's side. "I know you have had a few fights before, but this is going to be completely different. There is no holding back here. We can't afford to offer mercy. Every enemy we encounter is a dead enemy. No matter what. You understand?"
Jason smiled. "Yes, Uncle Tristan."
"We are going to make sure we get you back to your mate." Tristan said with a smile as he slapped his hand on Jason's shoulder.
"Did mom tell you that I am having a little girl? I sent her a letter explaining everything." Jason was proud and feeling a bit sentimental thinking about his pregnant mate.
"Yes, I heard. You are sure we don't want to just off this demon?" Tristan asked quietly.
Jason chuckled. "Actually, I left Jin with him for protection. If anything, I guess I will know she has a strong protector." Jason said with a small smile. "We are going to name her Destiny."
"I think that's a great name." Tristan sighed and squeezed Jason shoulder. "Don't get flustered and forget everything I have taught you."
"Wyatt, your mother and I have been trying to find another way with this black hole business, but we can't find anything." Tyler looked at his son's silver eyes. "We are going to win this demon war. And then you are going to do what you have to do. No matter what we won't give up on you. No matter how long it takes we will be waiting for you and Rhea to come back to us."
"Don't worry dad. We are going to make it out of there." Wyatt felt Freya's grip on his side tighten. He squeezed her back gently and nudged her lightly.
"You are going to make it out of there no matter what." Tyler nodded his head agreeing as he looked at Lilly.
Wyatt could hear the noise coming from the packs and he turned his head to look. He could see the army of the vampires slowly coming into view. As he glanced over at the different packs, he could see they seemed a bit unsure and antsy.
"I better go and keep the packs calm and greet the vampires. I'll be back shortly." Wyatt turned and looked at Freya. "You can stay here I won't be long."
"Nonsense. My place is at your side." Freya smiled up at him and he grinned down widely at her.
"Yes, it is." Wyatt looked up at his parents and then Jason. "We will be back. Jase, go ahead and stay here with mom and dad." Jason nodded his head to him and then the two of them headed towards the vampires. He wasn't sure if the king and queen would be there, but he was certain Jester would at the very least. And maybe Irene too.
Jason watched Wyatt walk away until a dark shadow fell upon the ground. He looked up and his eyes widened. "Hey look!"
The sky was covered with large ancient beasts. They sky monsters blocked the sun as they slowly made their descend. In the front were the largest dragons. And on top of a familiar blue dragon was Rhea waving down at them. The moment they landed they all took to their human forms.
Rhea smiled as Lee cradled her in his side. Her premonition that she had before was no longer valid. The dragons were here. She had done her part to change the future. Grayson and Ruby strolled up to her side and looked ahead towards where her parents and brother were standing. Cody jogged up to them along with Titus and Lila.
"That is my twin brother over there." Cody grinned pointing at Jason.
"Another bear with a voracious appetite?" Weston teased as he strolled closer.
"I don't want to hear that from you Wes. You can eat more than me." Cody laughed and Weston chuckled and shrugged.
"I am a dragon after all so that makes sense."
"Come on. I want to introduce you all." Rhea said as she dragged Lee along. They might be getting ready for war, but Rhea was still her excited self. It was better this way. Why worry about it? She was going to have faith in the army they have prepared. And she was ready to do her part in the war. She would believe in Lee because she had to. He was their only hope against Mephisto. She wasn't under the illusion that this would be an easy fight. Quite the contrary. But all the more reason to make these last moments as precious as possible.
"Jason! Where is Wyatt?" Rhea asked as she dragged Lee behind her.
"He is over there greeting the vampires." Jason nodded in the far direction behind them.
"Mom, Dad, Uncle Tristan. I wanted to introduce you to the other dragon kings. Of course, you already know Titus and Lila." Rhea said as she turned to looked at the others. "That is Dex the king of the north and by his side is Ciana his mate. Then this here is Grayson the king of the east and his mate Ruby. Then last and possibly least is Weston the king of the south."
"Hey. I resent that." Weston said and he clicked his tongue.
Rhea giggled. "You were meant to."
"Kelsie should be with Jin now." Cody said as he looked at Jason. Their chocolate eyes stared at the other and he nodded in understanding. Both of their mates were pregnant and carrying their future. Lilly and Tyler began talking with the other kings and Cody took this moment to walked up to Jason and hug him. He then whispered quietly to him. "If something happens to me... take care of them for me." He had died once. This was a real reality for him. And he was worried about leaving Kelsie and their future child. "I will Code. And you do the same for me." Jason said in a whisper only Cody could hear. The two brothers were both in agreement. And they were both bound by their duty. They were the guardians of the fairy prince and princess. They would fight to protect them and secure the future for the fairies.
Of course, their quiet whispers couldn't be missed by the deity's ears. Levi slowly made his way over to them while Rhea was poking fun at Weston some more. He looked at Cody and Jason with a smile on his face.
"You two are going to make it through this. You know how sad my fairy would be if you didn't? I already saw her like that once. I won't have her going through something like that again." Levi winked at the two guys. "No Locke family members are dying on my watch." "You just worry about keeping yourself alive. We won't have another fairy princess without you, right?" Cody winked and Lee laughed quietly.
"Unless there is already one in there cooking." Jason said with a wink.
"Ha if that was the case Lee would have locked her up." Cody chuckled.
"She is lucky I am not locking her up as it is." Lee said with a disapproving scowl.
Rhea giggled and slid her arms around Lee's waist. She tilted her head around him and beamed up at him. "He knows better than to lock me up, don't you, my Lee."
"Doesn't mean I haven't thought about it."
"That's bedroom talk." Rhea said in a sultry tone.
Lee chuckled grabbing onto her wrist and pulling her around to his front. "I'm letting you know this. You are my number one priority. Over everything. Let the world burn down, but I will always save you first. If I have to choose between the world or you, it is you. So, don't put yourself in a lethal situation." "Don't worry about me. I will be fine. You just worry about destroying Mephisto."
"Yeah, don't worry about Rhea. Besides, I'll be by her side the whole time." Titus slapped Lee's shoulder as he walked in front of him. "Rhea and I are going to put our awesome Gemini powers to the test. Maybe it will be like getting the star off of Mario or something equally cool." "Are you comparing our powers to a video game?" Rhea giggled and Titus beamed widely at her.
"If you haven't noticed princess our lives are like a real-life video game." Titus chuckled. "I mean Cody even got a continuation after his game over."
The others chuckled and nodded their heads. Their lives were like a video game. Except to their knowledge there wasn't a star that made them invincible.
Rhea looked up and noticed her mothers' green eyes staring at her. She smiled up at Lee. "I'll be right back." She walked away from his side and towards her mother. She was sure she wanted to give her one last pep talk while they still had time.
