Dr. Luna -
Chapter 50
She watched Jessica shift uncomfortably in her seat. Mattie was looking down a bit embarrassed and then met his eyes with Lilly. "I haven't been able to. My wolf is refusing to mark her. It's weird..." Mattie said with a bit of embarrassment. This was a red flag for Lilly though. The alarms were ringing loudly in her ear. Something was not adding up. Cedric... do you sense something off with Mattie? I keep seeing remnants of a blue aura or something around him. Something feels off... I have already been wondering about that princess. From the moment he walked in... I don't know how he usually is but there is something unusual about him. Cedric answered her and Tyler (who eavesdropped through the soul mate link) was now looking at Matteus with interest.
"Have you and your wolf been communicating normally?" Lilly asked trying to dig into more details. Lilly watched Jessica excuse herself to use the restroom out of the corner of her eye.
"Actually... it's been a bit fuzzy lately. Like I am getting a bad reception." Mattie frowned a bit.
There was something off about him for sure. His happy go lucky demeanor was gone. He seemed less confident and sadder. Something else was bothering Lilly. He still seemed to have lingering affections for her. It's happened before, but it wasn't usual once you found your mate.
Maybe it was because of the weird coincidence with Jessica, but she was suspecting foul play.
"How did you and Jessica meet?" Tyler was agreeing with Lilly's thought process.
"I was out on patrol and I found her near our borders. It was on my way bringing her back to the pack that I realized she was my mate." Mattie answered Tyler but was looking at him curiously. "How do you guys know Jessica?"
"We will answer that in a minute. When you first laid your eyes on hers you didn't immediately know she was your mate?" Lilly asked, continuing to press further.
"No, it wasn't right away... Where are your questions heading because I feel like you are preparing for an exam." Mattie eyed Lilly knowing she was in thought about something.
Do you think it was a potion or something? What could cause someone to think they found their mate? Lilly asked Cedric.
Fairy, demon, or a witch all have these powers... my money is that she bought a witch's potion. It is probably something she drank to make an unmated male think she is their mate... The only problem is I don't know how to reverse it or if it can be reversed. Cedric frowned knowing that Lilly would be distressed hearing the last part.
Avery, bring the b***h back here. Lilly ordered the all too willing Avery. Avery hopped up out of her seat and trotted over to the bathroom.
"Mattie... I think you may have been tricked." Lilly said with a sad frown. "Jessica has been banished by our pack. She is a misguided person and has an unhealthy obsession with Tyler. I think she did something to you to fool you into thinking she was your mate." "What?!" Mattie and Aaron both yelled out.
"She's gone! That sleezy skank." Avery yelled which confirmed everything Lilly was thinking.
"She must have figured out we were onto her. Caleb get the patrol, see if you can find her!" Tyler ordered and the man quickly went to work on it.
"I'm sorry Mattie. This wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for me..." Lilly couldn't help but feel remorse. Jessica purposely went to her old pack knowing that they would meet with Tyler. She probably had picked out Mattie knowing he was an unmated Beta. "This isn't your fault. I feel a bit overwhelmed and confused. I don't know how I am supposed to be feeling." Mattie shook his head a bit in agitation.
Lilly wanted to help him. She could feel this pull inside of her but wasn't sure what she was supposed to do. She stood up from the table and walked over to Mattie.
"I'm still new to this whole fairy side of me... but maybe I can help? I could also scramble your brain or catch you on fire... your call?" Lilly was not sure if she could help Mattie or not, but she knew she had more power then she had even discovered. So maybe, just maybe there was something she could do.
"Do it. If you can do anything, please do it. I don't want to feel fake feelings for someone. Plus, my wolf is screaming for you to do something too." Mattie was pleading with Lilly to try anything she could to help him. He felt confused and being pulled in different directions. He needed help; he could not live like this. The moment he saw Lilly he thought it was weird how he still felt for her. How did he continue to have these feelings... it had felt stronger than what he had felt for his mate. Now it made sense, it was because he had not found his mate.
Lilly wasn't sure what to do exactly, or if she could do anything. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the warmth she had deep inside of her. A gentle light, that she could almost see with her eyes closed, washed over her. She slowly took Mattie's hands into her own and concentrated. A sickening feeling started to crawl into her, making her feel nauseous. She was drawing it out of him, but what was she drawing out of him. It was dark... impure... tainted and foul. Lilly's hands began to shake as she continued to draw the fake lure from him. She could sense it... she could smell it. Focus on your light Lilly! Don't ever stop focusing on your light! Suzaku commanded from within her head. She finally released Mattie's hand and took a few staggering steps backwards. Tyler was at her side and she held up a staggering hand to keep him away. She was feeling nauseous and didn't want to get sick on him. Of course, Tyler ignored her hand of warning and wrapped his arms around her gently. He could feel what she felt and knew what her senses were picking up.
"So... Jessica is consorting with demons... seems to be in cohorts with the demon that is after Lilly as well. The moment we find her she dies. I warned her... I warned her..." Tyler was shaking with fury.
Calm down love. I'm okay. Lilly leaned her head into Tyler's chest and she felt his breathing calm down. She then turned her direction back to Mattie. She was hoping that what she did worked. "Mattie, how are you feeling?" Lilly asked quietly.
He looked up at Lilly and smiled. "It's gone. It's all gone. The fuzzy feeling, the fogginess... everything feels normal again."
"What did you do Lilly?" Kade could see the glow but wasn't sure what had just transpired in front of him.
"I took it out of his system and into myself." Lilly answered calmly.
"You know your mother also had healing gifts too." Cedric said quietly smiling at Lilly. "Your mother was able to heal injuries, though that wasn't all. You have so many different gifts and abilities. It will be exciting to see what they all are." "Will she get wings and fly?" Kade asked in a childlike excitement.
"You watch too much television." Cedric scoffed loudly.
"Jessica has signed her death certificate." Tristan's eyes were dark and angry. The idea that she consorted with demons and the very demons that were after Lilly sent an icy rage through his veins. He had a hard-enough time dealing with his anger over miniscule things. He was furious and barely controlling his rage.
Alpha! There are rogues everywhere. We are getting over run on the North side. Caleb mind linked Tyler with urgency.
I'm on my way. I'll bring the rest of our warriors too. Tyler turned and looked at Kade.
"Kade, mind link with the pack. We are under attack and need all warriors to report towards the northern border." Tyler then turned to Lilly. "Stay here."
"Don't you dare! We are stronger together. I am coming with you." Lilly was furious he was asking her to stay back.
"I'll fight with you Tyler; I need to vent this anger out." Tristan stood up and pumped his fist in his hand.
"Cedric stay here with Lilly. Aaron please stay here and keep her safe for me." Tyler pulled Lilly deep into his arms.
Please, baby. Don't fight me. Stay here. We don't know what we are up against. I love you Lilly. Tyler gave her a deep kiss full of urgency and passion. He then pushed her shoulders back and into Cedric's arms before rushing off with Kade and Tristan. "Don't worry Lilly. They'll be back in no time." Avery said trying to calm her nerves as well.
"Hey Lills, you'll be able to feel if anything is wrong. So, don't worry." Cedric's voice was calm and gentle as he gently held onto Lilly's shoulders.
"Should we help too?" Mattie asked Aaron.
"No, we will stay here and make sure Lilly is safe like Tyler asked us to. This doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. The thing with Jessica and the rogues... demon involvement. This all seems to tie in together." Aaron looked at Lilly he knew she was already thinking the same thing. All the more reason to stay back and keep an eye on her.
We should be there... we need to be there too. I don't like this. Lilly frowned as she felt her agitation grow. Kira was angry too. She was pacing around her head. She was anxious to be by her mate as well.
She could feel the build up and anticipation rising inside of her. And then it was nothing but chaos and fury. Tyler was there and fighting. She felt the surprise he had, the numbers were larger than he had anticipated. He didn't seem too worried, but she got the feeling that the battle would take longer than he originally thought.
Lilly walked away from Cedric and went into the kitchen to get something cool to drink. She felt on edge. She felt like she was being backed into a corner and had no choice but to face what was in front of her head on. I've found you.
