Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) -
Chapter 1770
Chapter 1770
Charlie nodded, "Just went to sleep."
Mrs. James chuckled warmly, "You haven't taken care of a child before, how about we let Kya sleep in our room? I'll carry her over, I promise I won't wake her up."
Charlie immediately stepped aside, "I can take care of her myself."
"What do you mean you can take care of her? What if you roll over in your sleep and squash Kya?" Mrs. James patted Charlie's shoulder, "This is also what your dad thinks, our bed is big. Kya will be in the middle and she won't roll off."
Charlie resisted, "Kya might wake up, not recognize her surroundings, and cry"
"We'll call you if she cries."
Charlie was forcefully pushed aside by Mrs. James, who then unceremoniously carried the sleeping Kya away, warning him over her shoulder, "Don't try to come and steal her back, if you wake Kya up, your dad will have a bone to pick with you-"
Charlie was speechless.
His daughter kidnapped, Charlie was too angry to sleep. He stood up and went to the balcony to smoke a cigarette, then called Jonathan, "Come out for a drink." Jonathan had been busy today, he had just returned, he hadn't even gotten out of his car yet.
Knowing Charlie was definitely disturbed tonight, Jonathan thought about how Charlie had been there for him before, he couldn't be disloyal at such a time.
He agreed to meet Charlie and called Estelle to let her know, "Ella, Charlie wants me to go out for a drink with him, should I go?"
Estelle was straightforward, "Go ahead, I'm at Emily's."
Jonathan chuckled, "Okay, I'll pick you up when I get back."
After Estella hung up, Jonathan swung his car around and slowly drove off.
Midnight Bar Jonathan and Charlie sat across from each other, the coffee table in between them cluttered with several opened bottles of liquor.
Charlie poured Jonathan a drink, "Let me tell you something, I have a daughter now"
"I know." Jonathan replied calmly, then added with disapproval, "You're not spending time with your daughter, but you're out here in the middle of the night for a drink?" "I was waiting for you to say that." Charlie sneered, "So you were hiding it from me too?"
Jonathan stated defiantly, "Ella didn't want me to tell you."
Charlie was about to retort, but Jonathan cut him off, 'Don't even ask who's more important, you or Ella, you know the answer"
Charlie didn't say anything.
Jonathan lounged back in his chair, a smirk on his lips, "I did help you, you know. The paternity test Noreen showed you today, where do you think that came from?" Charlie was taken aback, "You gave it to her?"
"Yeah." Jonathan nodded, "I had it done a while ago, I was just waiting for the right time to give it to you."
"The right time?" Charlie scoffed, "Or were you just waiting for Estelle to tell you to?"
Jonathan took a sip of his drink, his voice steady, "Don't you think now is the perfect time? You need to believe, everything is the best arrangement from above."
Charlie's gaze deepened. He pondered over Jonathan's words. They seemed to make sense.
Jonathan continued, "Your past has made Emily insecure, but now, I think she has changed her mind about you."
Charlie laughed bitterly, "Great, now she won't even see me."
"It all happened suddenly, Emily also needs time to digest."
Jonathan spoke softly, "Noreen has left, I didn't have anyone stop her, I think, you were willing to give her that million dollars, she probably won't come back to J City again." "Yeah, let her go.' Charlie looked up, asking, "How did you know Noreen took Kya?"
Since finding out Kya was his daughter, he had been immersed in excitement, some details hadn't had time to think about.
