Chapter 27

Ben’s POV

I hadn’t reached back out to Myles again like I said I would. I was trying really hard to work things out with Louise.

I rolled to the side of the bed, looking at my alarm clock, sighing when I realized it was three in the morning.

I haven’t been sleeping. Only few hours here and there. Landyn has been quiet and distant, and I really haven’t heard from my mom or my dad in a while.

I picked up my phone, deciding to scroll through f******k. There was no point in going back to sleep if I had to be up in an hour for training.

Nothing was really catching my eye till I saw a notification that Lily updated her profile picture nearly ten hours ago.

I clicked on it, and a picture of Myles and Lily popped up. I couldn’t control the rage and jealously I was feeling.

Even my wolf growled. Who still refuses to speak to me.

They really looked so in love, and I hated it. How the hell am I supposed to go home in two weeks to this. To see her in another man’s arms when she should belong to me.

I tossed the lamp off my side table into the closet door.

Landyn came barging in. ” Dude, what’s wrong? What’s all the noise about?”

I growled. “It’s nothing. Just go back to bed.”

He put his hand up in surrender. “Fine man, but you are spiraling. I’m here if you want to talk.”

I sighed. “It’s Lily and Myles.”

“Can i say something to you as my longest childhood friend and not my alpha.”

I was unsure for a moment, but I really wanted to know what he had to say. “Fine.”

“I take it you seen the photos of Lily and Myles online, correct?”

I nodded.

“Ben, you dumped her. She has every right to move on with someone else. Isn’t that what you did with Louise? “

“It’s not the same.”

“I understand that, but you made the choice, and now you need to deal with the consequences. Lily and Myles seem happy and what I’ve been told there really good together.”

“Who said that?”

“Does it really matter?”

I didn’t know what to say, but I knew I was pissed.

“I’m headed to go get ready for training since we’re already up. Just let it go, Ben.”

He left without letting me say another word. I shouldn’t have let him talk to me like a friend. Because he was a really shitty one.

After training, I got back and found a package on my bed. I saw it was from my mom and opened it up. It was tux.

We found out we couldn’t leave Alpha school till later than we were originally told . just happens to be the morning of my party my mom had planned. This means I had to be ready to go in a tux before we even got back to the pack.

Louise wasn’t thrilled that my mother wouldn’t change the date of the party. She said she spent too much time and money to change it, and it could still work out.

I called her up to let her know I got it. She answered after the first ring.

“Hey sweetie, how are you? I take it you got your tux? I know it’s not ideal, but it still works out, and everyone is so excited.”

“Yeah, I got it, mom. Louise is still not thrilled, but she said she would make it work.”

“Right, well. If it’s too hard for her, she can always come another time to visit. “

“Mom, you know this is more than a visit. I know dad told you I’m taking her as my Luna.”

She was silent for a moment.

“Ben, I really don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“Why? Dad told me you guys were chosen mates not fated. What’s the big deal? Most people take a chosen mate.”

“I just think you should come back and see Lily she’s matured and way more beautiful than when you seen her last.”

“Mom, I already know.”

“How?”

“Mom, just let it go. She’s with Myles now.”

“Ben, she’s not thinking clearly. Her mom took off, and she’s just lonely. “

I wonder if that’s why she went to Beach House with Myles. So she wouldn’t be alone at her cottage. I guess technically, she could have gone with Amber and not Myles.

This all makes way more sense now. Myles just took advantage of her being lonely.

“Why did she leave?”

“Oh, umm, well, no one’s quite sure. Back in July, i think.”

I couldn’t help but feel like maybe she was lying, but I shrugged it off.

“Okay, mom, I’ve got to go. we will see you in a couple of weeks.”

“You’re still going to bring her.”

“Yes, mom, I’m still going to bring her.”

If Lily is just lonely, maybe I can have her and Louise both like I had with her and Brooke before.

This could work out. Yes, this is all going to work out great. As soon as Lily sees me, she will want me back.

Rayas POV

When I found out from Remi that Charles was alive, i couldn’t sit back anymore. Lily was a grown woman now. She would be fine. I needed to find him before she got her power. Before she marked Myles or found her fated mate. But my instincts were telling me Myles was it.

When we got to the Rouges’ current hiding spot. I saw my Charles hanging from a post. It was like he was displayed for me to see.

There was no one around which I found odd, but I knew i needed to least try to take the opportunity to get him down and escape.

I didn’t even get twenty feet in when rogues surrounded me. Charles opened his eyes. “Run Raya, baby run, it’s a trap.” He had tears in his eyes.

I started to run to him. “No, Raya, our daughter needs you.” It snapped me back to reality and ran off in the other direction. One rogue scratched my arm badly when I took off past him. I got away, but it almost felt like they let me get away.

It was then in that moment I knew I couldn’t go home. They had to have been planning to follow me or at least kill me.

I was set up. The only two people who knew about this were Meghan and Remi.

I hid behind a tree stump, trying to catch my breath and my thoughts.

I heard a few grunts and twigs snap. I didn’t smell any rogues, so I just stayed down and quiet.

“Raya, it’s me, Remi. I can smell that you’re bleeding. We were set up, and I need your help. One of them broke my leg, and I need help setting it back in place to heal.”

I could tell how scared and sincere he was in his voice. I stood up, and sure enough, he was in bad shape. I ran towards him. We got his leg back in place, and I took a stick and some elastic bandage I had in my backpack.

I helped him up, and he leaned against a tree. “We need to head to the human town. We aren’t safe here or safe back at your pack. I have a couple thousand in cash, and i know you said you brought some to, right?”

“Yeah, I did.”

Deep down, I already knew the answer, but i had to ask. Even if my heart really didn’t want to know the truth.

“Why can’t we go back to my pack?”

“Only three people knew about us headed to the rogues hide out, and two of us are standing here hurt. I think I was expected to be dead, same for you. “

“Why would Meghan do this? What about my daughter? “

“I’m not sure what’s going on. I’m her own brother, and she tried to have me killed, and I barely got away. She won’t kill Lily, she’s too valuable.”

“But we have to get moving, I’m pretty sure they have a scent tracker. They won’t touch as in the human town.”

We finally made it to the human town, and by morning, Remis leg was completely healed.

We checked into a cheap hotel room. As soon as we got to the room, I broke down. I broke down for my poor mate chained to a pole for goddess know how long and the torment hes indured over the years, and my poor daughter who probably had no idea what’s going on and how unsafe she actually is.

A few weeks went by, and we were still cooped up in a shitty hotel room, not knowing what to do. I decided to write my daughter a letter but send it to the gammas so no one would expect anything. But what could I say? I had no proof that Luna Meghan betrayed me.

“Is it possible someone heard one of our conversations in the pack.”

” I don’t see how. We always talked in my sisters office, and she has that room sound proofed by some witch. As long as that door is closed, no one can hear a damn thing. “

He was quiet for a moment.

“If it wasn’t her, she would have reached out to check in. But she hasn’t even done that. I think she thinks I’m dead. The rogue I knocked out probably told them he killed me so he wouldn’t be killed himself for letting me escape. He was covered in my b***d.”

I nodded. It just made me feel sick. I’ve know Meghan and Remi are whole lives. How could she do this to me, and why would she do this to me? She always complained of Rodger being power hungry, surely she wasn’t the same was she?

“What do we do now?”

“Write the letter and I think it’s time we go to the palace. We have no other choice.”
