Chapter 40

Lily POV

I woke up to quiet bickering coming from the living area in our room.I peaked my eyes open and saw Myles, Landyn, and Conner playing call of duty. Those buttholes didn’t even wait for me they knew I would slay them all.

Myles heard me sitting up from the bed. “Morning baby, how did you sleep?”

I felt like I was seriously hung over. I lied. “I’m okay, just not quite awake yet. What are you all doing here?”

Conner smiled. “Well, dummy over here wouldn’t leave your side. Even when Landyn and I suggested that we go play in one of our rooms so we wouldn’t disturb you. You were sleeping so cute.” He batted his eyelashes

I snorted, hearing “cute” coming out of Conners mouth. “What time is it?

“It’s almost six, baby.”

“Six at night? I slept through breakfast and lunch.”

“Yeah, I know. We didn’t want to wake you with everything that happened yesterday.”

“Don’t worry, Lil. I ordered pizza for everyone and even got you your Cobb salad that you like.”

I smiled. “Thank Conner, you sure do know how to take care of me.”

Myles scowled Conner with a clenched jaw. “Dont you dare say what I think you’re gonna say.”

He had an evil grin but said it anyway. “Hell yeah, i do, Lil. I’ll take care of you in any way you need.”

I heard Myles smack Conner. I rolled my eyes and decided to get in the shower before the pizza came. I don’t even remember going to sleep last night.

I went to stand up when I heard a growl from Myles. I looked at him. “What?”

“You’re only in my t-shirt.” I now noticed Conner and Landyn redirecting their eyes, trying not to piss of Myles.

“For crying out loud. I’m pregnant with your pups and wearing your mark. No one is fricken looking at me. If you were so worried about it, you should have left and played games in one of their rooms. So shut it down and no more growling. “I was slightly annoyed. I think I need food.

I went to the closet and grabbed some sweatpants, a large comfy sweater, and some undergarments. I ran out, realizing I hadn’t asked about Amber yet.

I barged out of the closet, startling the guys. Myles was pouting from my outburst before. Conner and Landyn were clearly making fun of him for it. Stupid boys.

“Have you guys heard anything on how Amber is doing.”

Landyn nodded. “Brody linked us a few hours ago that she woke and was released to go back to their room. He said she passed back out almost instantly and hasn’t woke up again yet. Im guessing she will sleep all night being in the comfort of her bed.”

“Alright, well, that makes me feel better. Maybe she will be up for visitors tomorrow. I’m going to go jump in the shower before the food gets here.”

Conner scooted down the couch to put some distance between him and Myles. “I’ll be thinking of you while you’re in there, Lil.”

I shook my head. That dumb a*s is going to get his butt kicked, and sure enough, myles charged at him. Conner got up to run, and landyn tripped him so he would fall on his face.

Conner yelled. “Damn it, Landyn. Why?”

Landyn snickered. “I just wanted to end this quickly. Myles was going to chase you down and kick your a*s regardless. Least this way, it’s out of the way, and we can go back to playing games.”

I rolled my eyes and headed towards the bathroom, shut the door, and locked it. Seriously, why are boys so stupid sometimes.

I looked in the mirror and saw I still had dry b***d on my forehead. My wound was close to being healed. I looked down at my baby bump, noticing how round it had gotten. The worry took over me again of what we would have to go through to keep her safe. I just hope we can end this soon without anyone else getting hurt or worse dying.

I jumped in the shower and washed all the b***d out of my hair and off my face. The water was dirty and tinted with b***d. I would need to change the sheets after this.

I heard a knock at the door and assumed it was the pizza. I got out quickly and dried myself off and tossed my comfy and warm clothes on. It’s really starting to get cold out. A warm fire sounds nice right now.

I ran a brush through my hair and decided it was good enough, especially if we were just going to hang out in our room.

I walked out to see Louise holding quite a few boxes of pizza and a bag that I assumed had my salad in it. Part of me was shocked to see her, but the other part of me was not so much.

I looked at Conner, and he was just nodding his head at me and giving me a thumbs up behind her back. I gave a slight smile, knowing they must be working things out. “So Louise, you joining us tonight?”

She looked shocked. “Oh, um, I don’t want to intrude. I was headed up to check to see how you were doing before I headed back home. I was waiting till you woke up. I was down in the kitchen when they were calling someone to bring the pizzas up. So I just offered to do it.”

“Well, why don’t you just stay?” I saw Conner beaming with excitement from the corner of my eye.

“Oh, umm, I don’t know. It’s getting late.” She seemed really unsure of herself.

“I promise it will be fun, and it’s only like seven. Just stay, we can watch movies, eat junk food, and gossip.”

“Okay, you may be starting to convince me.”

“Hey, you can even stay the night. I’m sure Alpha will let you stay in one of the guests’ rooms again. Or you can stay with me and we can kick Myles to the couch or he can stay with one of the guys.”

We both look over to see Myles mouth drop slightly and then turn into a pout. He sat down and crossed his arms and mumbled something along the line of “not fair.”

We both giggled at his reaction. It was even better than I anticipated. Louise smile really got to me. She doesn’t seem at all like the person at the ice cream shop. I’m honestly thinking i missed judged her.

She looks back at me. “Okay, you sold me after seeing Pouty Mcgee reaction over there. It was priceless.”

I see Conner mouth “Thank you” towards me. I juat gave him a slight nod. I knew he needed this. He was clearly changing his feelings towards her, and he needed the support of his friends.

I clapped my hands together. “Okay, Conner, you’re in charge of getting soda, candy, and popcorn. Oh, and grab some girly magazines.”

He saluted me. “On it boss or should I say princess.”

I glared at him and looked at Myles for help. He shook his head. “Nope, I’m not helping you. You kicked me to the curb. He can call you princess all he wants. ” I rolled my eyes such a baby.

Conner gave me an evil grin. Ah, crap this isn’t going to be good. “So my princess should I give you the royal treatment tonight.” He wiggled his eyebrows at me.

I couldn’t help but laugh. Even Louise was busting out laughing. She shook her head. Are they always like this? It’s very entertaining.”

“Oh, this is nothing. Just wait.”

Myles shot up. “Nope, I can’t do it. Princess thing is done.” He starts chasing after Conner, and they take off out of the bedroom.

Landyn gets up slowly. “I’ll go make sure Myles doesn’t kill him.”

I give my attention back to Louise. “Do you have any comfy clothes?”

“Actually, I don’t. One of the reasons I was going to head home.”

“Well, you can borrow some of my stuff. I’ll grab you some sweats and such.”

I walked into the closet and pulled out some stuff that I thought would fit. She is a couple inches taller than me.

I handed her the clothes and pointed where the bathroom was at. “Thank you, Lily, for everything. “

While she went to change clothes, i quickly changed my sheets and bedding. I didn’t want her to have lay in dirt and dry b***d. I figured the guys would be playing games for a while on the couch.

Right when she came out, the guys just got back with the junk food. Conner had his hands full. “Where do you want this, my lady?”

I rolled my eyes. At least it wasn’t princess this time. “The bed is fine.”

He tossed everything on the bed, and Myles brought me my salad and a slice of pizza. I kissed him softly. “Thanks, baby.”

“Anything for you, princess.” I squinted my eyes and scrunched my nose at him. Which just made him chuckle.

I sat on the bed, and I patted the spot next to me. “Come sit, Louise.”

She sat down hesitantly, and Conner handed her a plate of pizza. “Just cheese, right?” I smiled, realizing they were trying to get to know each other.

She looked slightly shocked that he knew that. “Um, yeah, that’s right.

I shooed Conner away, so Louise and i could girl talk. He gave us one of Myles Pouty lips and went and sat with the guys in the living area. Me and Louise both chuckled at his reaction.

I tossed a throw blanket over us. It started to get chilly in here, and i forgot to ask Myles to start the fire, and i didn’t want to bug him now.

I took a few bites and finally worked up the nerve to ask. “So what’s going on with you and Conner?”

She blushed and finished chewing. “So you noticed that?”

“Yeah, I saw you guys talking at the club.”

“Honestly, I’m not sure what we are or if we’re even anything. I apologized for rejecting him and how I acted . I made a huge mistake and wanted him to know that. I was trying to keep my dad happy. Instead of taking the time to actually think of what I wanted. My whole life, it was drilled to me that I had to be a luna, but I’m not sure if that’s what I want anymore. We decided to take things extremely slow. All I know is I like him, and he likes me, and that’s enough for right now.”

I smiled and grabbed her hand. “I love how you said that. Do you have any idea what you might want to do now?”

“I’ve had this thought in my head for a few days now about going to college. I’m thinking of going to law school. I wouldn’t mind being a pack lawyer. I know my dad wouldn’t accept that or let me be our packs lawyer. I would have to go somewhere else. I think I’m honestly okay with that, though.”

“Well, maybe if things work out with Conner, you could stay here. I wouldn’t mind that. You’re not who i thought you were at first.”

“Yeah, being with Ben brought out another side in me. I’m sorry for being so awful towards you.”

“Louise, you already apologized. It’s really okay. We are all good.”

“So you’re a princess?”

We both gave out a knowing laugh. I gave her the run down in how I found out and what happened to my dad. I told her some of the parts luna had in it but not the parts of her being fated mates with the rogue king and of her sons. I also kept out about the attack they had planned for November. I wanted to tell her. I just need to make sure i put my trust in the right people. I couldn’t risk luna finding out what we knew.

“Wow. I’m sure that came out as a shock to you. I’m forever grateful that i didn’t end up becoming luna of this pack. Luna Meghan is unbelievable. I’m honestly kind of shocked you haven’t bitched her out yet.”

“Oh you have no idea what she’s capable of. She was my mom’s best friend. I just hate how all of this turned out.”

“I can tell there’s more, but you don’t have to tell me. I understand completely. It’s not like we had the best start.”

“Some things I feel like I should tell Ben first. Me and him are actually in an okay place, and there’s just some things he should know. I just hope he doesn’t end up super pissed at me for not telling him as soon as I found out.”

“I think you have a free pass with after everything he’s done to you.”

“Maybe so.” I jumped slightly. I was completely startled when one of the pups kicked me in the ribs.

Louise looked at me with worry. “Are you okay, Lily?”

“Yes, one of the pups just kicked me pretty hard.”

She looked at me with so much wonder and admiration. “Oh, okay.” She stared at my stomach.

“Do you want to feel?”

“Oh no, I couldn’t. I don’t want to overstep. You’ve already been so nice to me, and this seems a little more personal.”

“it’s really okay, but only if you want to.”

“Well, okay, as long as it doesn’t bother you.”

I reassured her. “It doesn’t.”

I lifted my shirt and took her hand where the pups had been kicking before.

Her eyes lit up with excitment. “This is just amazing. A tiny miracle well, miracles.’

Someone knocked at the door, and we all looked at each other puzzled. Myles got up to get the door. Ben stood there looking awkward as ever.

“Hey, I was wondering if we could talk.” His eyes got directed right to Louise and I. He was staring at her hand on my belly.

Conner looked at Ben, to us, and then back to Ben. “Having a hard time with your ex groping your other ex?’ I personally think it’s kind of hot.”

Louise tossed a pillow and hit him straight in the head. “Seriously, Conner, way to make it awkward.”

“Oh, come on. It was already awkward. I just made it fun.”

I shrugged my shoulders back and forth. “Well, I don’t know about fun but definitely entertaining.”

Louise looked at me amused . “Is it always like this with you guys, like seriously?”

We all answered at the same time with a quick “Yes.” We all looked up at Ben. He answered right along with us. We all couldn’t contain our laughter.

Myles invited him. He awkwardly took a seat in the armchair. ” I know we agreed to wait till Amber was up to have this conversation, but can one of you tell me why my mom was just talking to the rogue king?”

I bit my l*p. We all stayed silent.

Ben pulled at the back of his neck and then clasped his hands together in front of him. He looked around at all of us. “By the silence and the tense reactions I’m picking up on, you all know exactly what I’m talking about.”

Conner got a little red in the face. “Damn it, does that mean Call of Duty is over with since shits about to hit the fan?”

Louise got close to my ear and whispered, “i take it that this is what you were holding back on telling me.”

I gave a nervous nod.

“Ah, yeah shits about to hit the fan. Did Conner bring up any popcorn.”

I gave her a stunned look, and she just looked at me with a big “what” expression. “I’ve just realized that you and Conner are perfect for each other.”

She beamed at me. Clearly liking what I said. “But seriously, is there any popcorn. I have a feeling Ben is going to flip s**t and I stress eat.”

I shook my head and tossed her a bag of popcorn. We look back at the guys, and they are staring at us. “What? We’re fast friends.” Louise put up her fist for me to bump.

Landyn was holding back a smirk. He looked so amused with me and Louise.

Ben just looked annoyed. “As weird as this is for me that Lily and Louise are suddenly best friends, can someone please tell me what the hell is going on?”

Before we could even get a word out. The door was flung open, causing Louise and I both to jump into eachothers arms. From the look of shock that was on everyone’s faces, no one was expecting this.
